Oh my gosh, Michael is smiling throughout the whole entire song, you can tell he's really enjoying it... And he did this with every song he sang in the Jackson 5! So cute. He is the cutest child star ever.
+Rosee Negri Rosee, yeah I read that Berry Gordy of Motown trained the Jacksons in stage presence because he felt newer and younger artists weren't properly exposed to the customs of "white America". He trained the Jacksons in stage presence, smiling, dancing, hair afros, and their clothes and outfits. He essentially made them what they are and groomed them to cross over into all of America.
WOW, I feel such a longing feeling of sadness, just watching Michael, when he was younger, and then knowing how some hateful ass people tried to destroy him when he got older.. He will always have a place in my heart!!!
It is known by some, that the road to rich and fame ask us not to sacrifice our time and to have talent. Road to rich and fame ask from us a dead family line as you must end up sacrificing them all, if want to remain alive and rich and famous. And if we bother to listen, then we hear them all admitting that a dead family member or a dead friend, or a dead band member was needed for the album to sell. - sinister and very dark, but true nevertheless.
man micheal jackson sings better then anybody on this planet honestly its 2011 and no one haven't measure up to this man. he was truly a gift to this world. rip mike
First off, respect to the family, secondly, Jermaine wore a wig. Best Fro's of all time? 1) Michael Jackson 2) Shirley Hemphill 3) Jeff Daniels 4) Leon Silvers
You can see it here man... Mike was starting to let that beast out. All the head pops and dance steps in between the choreographed moves. Unstoppable. GOAT.
I'm two years younger than Michael was and had such a crush in the early 70's. The psychedelic outfits and their harmonies bring back such good memories...and sadness that Michael couldn't be happy inside with his own natural looks.
I saw a interview with Bell Biv Devoe during the Soul Train awards Red carpet ceremony. During the interview Tito Jackson came from the crowd to see how BBD was doing the group was very happy to see Tito, Rick bell said during the interview I quoteeverything that we did was because of them (New Edition) you see not everyone gonna be like Mike someone had to be Tito someone have to be Jackie someone had to be Jermaine someone had to be Marlon. Everything that they did we try to do the same. That shows that the Jackson 5 one of the most greatest groups in music history.
📀 TOUGH TALKING MR JOE JACKSON REALLY SAW THE POTENTIAL IN HIS BOYS AND WORKED REALLY HARD WITH THEM SO THEY COULD AMOUNT TO SOMETHING SPECIAL 🤫 QUIET AS KEPT ! !
People can say all the negative comments they want about Michael, but in the end he was without a doubt the greatest entertainer of all time; a world wide cutural phenomenen and prodigy. If we could live a thousand lifetimes, we will never see this kind of talent again.
I know this is not a new video, but I came here from an article posted on Johnny Jackson. As the author said, Johnny and Ronnie were the unsung members of the J5. The author mainly points to Berry Gordy as failing to not only recognize these two talented musicians, but failing to pay them any royalties for their contributions to the J5 sound. I saw them all in 1970. I read where Johnny was born in 1955, which means he was only 15 and playing the drums like a veteran. The music business is so dirty. Eddie Kendricks was once asked if he would ever write a book. He said if he couldn't tell the gospel, he didn't want to say anything. I really hope someone bring these two musicians to light, at least while Ronnie is still alive.
So wonderful! my eyes were focused steadily on Michael Jackson the whole time. His smile alone is worth paying for. Love their choreography at 0:25 - 0:35
Such amazing talent...All of them!!! Jermaine always had such a great soulful voice, along with some real soulful basslines! Thanks so mush for posting this gem in HQ!
Mike Jackson is the real thing my Lord what a beautiful person . l miss him so. Never knew him other than through his greatness and music and kindness.
man this really brought back memories. i remember seeing them sing this song a the flip wilson show. this was great. there can never be another group like the J-5. their timing was oh so perfect. thanks for posting this;and for me to see this again after all of these years,it's just so amazing how fresh this performance of theirs still is.
I've never heard the Jackson 5 cover this until now. I wish Michael would have toured with them more in the 90s. I know they were probably pooped from the 70s and Michael from the 80s, but what a group they'd of made in the 90s
0:11 - 0:24 Jermaine: (singing) Ain't nothing like the real thing, baby. Ain't nothing like the real thing. No, no. Ain’t nothing like the real thing, baby.
@Ben Dover There is no comparison. Milli Vanilli weren't singers, and lip synched live shows. The Jackson Five, like all Motown artist, were real singers. However, during many television performances of the '60s, and '70s, it was too impractical to take the Motown musicians along, so they lip synched, or pre recorded backing vocals, and instrumentals. Check it Out! Ciao!!!
@@renaissanceman165 It wasn't just the J5. Most acts were lip synced. These television shows were taped, and had specific time requirements and performance quality targets to meet. In other words, it's business. With that being said, the song selection above could be handled with keyboards/synth, percussion, drums, guitar and bass. It wouldn't be out of the ordinary for them to perform. Also, the Flip Wilson show, of course, had it's orchestra to provide strings, horns etc.
I got your picture hangin' on the wall It can't see or come to me when I call your name I realize it's just a picture in a frame I read your letters when you're not near But they don't move me And they don't groove me like when I hear Your sweet voice whispering in my ear
There is a glow to this beautiful little boy's face when he performs. It goes beyond talent. He was made to do this... Truly one of a kind. Great quaility video thank you.
Wow I'm confused to whose version is better, J5 or Marvin and Tammi. That's a tough one because I like how J5 version made the beat a little funkier but Marvin and Tammi sang that song with so much passion so with that said I give a slight edge to Marvin and Tammi. R.I.P. Michael/Marvin/Tammi
Don’t forget Ashford and Simpson. They wrote the song and performed it live. Those two were so in love! Also check out Ashford and Simpson “Is it still good for ya? “ for another performance so full of passion. RIP Nick Ashford 22 August 2011
I love this music group the Jackson 5 so much all there album and songs from when they where younger and Michaels early solo album and later albums in his career
Thank you so very much for posting this outstanding quality video. I never saw the Jackson 5 performing The Real Thing before. I heard Tammi Terrell and Marvin Gaye deliver this song. Michael was so sweet in this performance. The brothers were wonderful. The Jackson 5 were extraordinary in their stage performance. We were so blessed to have The Jackson 5 in our lives. Michael looked happy having the opportunity to share his gifts with so many. Love and respect always to my beloved Michael!
Oh my gosh, Michael is smiling throughout the whole entire song, you can tell he's really enjoying it... And he did this with every song he sang in the Jackson 5! So cute. He is the cutest child star ever.
He is and Donny Osmond, too!

@@jamesb.7151 Greatest group of all time. Bands today don't ever dare put this much work in their craft.
❤
He had too or Joe would whoop his ass
WOW, I feel such a longing feeling of sadness, just watching Michael, when he was younger, and then knowing how some hateful ass people tried to destroy him when he got older.. He will always have a place in my heart!!!
The original version is so good. But this is a vibe by itself
I can't get into the original much but J5 really could make a cover their own
Hearing Mike come to the front (as he always does) and command a song that was a cover is just crazy. He really went crazy on this
Jermaine was the coolest Bass player~~the Greatest sibling group to ever DO IT!!! And THE G.O.A.T front man!! AKA KING OF POP!~

Loving Michael and Jermaine harmonizing. Really something!
They flow so well together
Ikr
When it was all of them together I was astonished by all of them combining together
Boy if I could’ve been a teenager in 1972…
Ain't nothin like seeing all of the brothers on stage together! The harmony, the choreography, wow, just simply amazing. So lucky to grow up with J5!
That's why it's called soul music 🎶 🎵 where you feel the music 🎶 not just hear it ❤❤❤
2:13 - 2:16 is just so amazing. His smile, the way he's dancing slightly leaning towards the mic. I could cry.
He is from heaven.
"Michael Jackson was that dude. He was reall a star. His presence even at that age was bigger than life." ,
No one like u micheal.....rest in perfect peace.
All you can say is legendary
Absolutely does not get any smoother than that ...
Not many things can upstage the Jacksons.....
but the drummer almost pulls it off with that hat !
That hat is everything
@@aielnod EVERYTHING!! 🤗🤗
That foot placement...polished beyond description...Motown really knew how to present this group... flawless.

Love and respect for MARVIN GAYE & TAMMI TERRELL's version of this song, but THE JACKSON5's is my favorite.

The Flip Wilson Show. 1972.
