I saw Sarah Chang play this at the Barbican in February 2010, it was the first time I had heard it and was divine, in fact '' Music of the Gods'' I think this performance by So Young Yoon is every bit as good as Sarahs, just so wonderful that a human being can write such music and also that other human beings can play it with such expression and emotion. I think the modern top musicians such as this young lady show far more soul and expression in their music than the violinist's of the past.
I really love her playing and am pretty disappointed that she wasn't placed second or third. It's also really obvious that she beat the hell out of herself for this competition (the bloodied neck in the final round was a surprise).
The wrap on her hand is probably a menthol patch, they're popular as analgesics in Japan and Taiwan so I wouldn't be surprised if they are in Korea as well.
@olicabinotto
In fact, because of her being a child prodigy, as far as I know Sarah Chang has never entered or won any violin competitions and has never had to go and be judged by anyone as these other artists have. Sarah is a wonderful artist and I have seen her many time playing live but there are also many other wonderful Violinists in the world today.
Soyoung Young!!!!! genial la pianita !!!!! tambien.
Beautiful!!
And looking at that violin makes me think about a violin I tried last year from Shar :( It was so adorable and easy to play!!! At the time I chose the violin that sounded louder from another store, but now I miss that other one...
Perfect!
hermosa interpretacion!!!!!
素晴らしいですね、そして美しい方ですね。
@olicabinotto she will never because in fact, she is a different person.
Of course you are completely correct .
Soyoung Yoon is a Virtuoso Violinist as is Sarah Chang.
Neither of them needs to pretend to be anyone else as they are both wonderful in their own right !!
whats that wrap she has on her arm?
my wrist is starting to get tendonitis and i dont know why. my teacher can't tell what's wrong either. does that wrap she has help with keeping the arm and wrist loose?
Practice very slow and piano and watch every muscle, the grip on the bow and the finger pressure in the left hand. Increase speed an volume only if you are totally sure that you are completely relaxed - not only in your hands and wrist, but also in the shoulders and neck.
Be aware, that everything you repeat is practicing, so you must, during the whole practicing, have the feeling, that, what you practice is easy. If it feels difficult, stop repeating (otherwise you will practice the feeling, that it is difficult) and find out, where the difficulty comes from, correct it and then, always closely watching yourself, commence repeating.
Good luck :)
I think it's matter of your preference. There is certainly ppl who prefers style of certain artists. Or, are you talking about the technique, instead of musical content? Your statement lacks detail.
@olicabinotto
What a very stupid and insulting remark. This young lady violinist does not need to pretend to be Sarah Chang or anyone other than herself. She has entered many competitions and done very well. The competition at the top for these many fine artists is very tough and intense and they are all very gifted and dedicated to their music. Their profession is not like the instant fame accorded to the talent shows run by simon cowell, people who make one or two records then vanish.
I love you
that was a beautiful performance.her bandaged hickey threw me alil off guard tho
what happened to her arm?
Probably
She is better than Sarah Chang. Sarah Chang used to be so much better when she was young. It makes me so sad.
Great performance. the only disappointing part was that the pianist could not hold her horses (she couldn't control the piece at that speed very well)
