What a lovely lesson. Holding the drum in my left hand, I still look for the position that allows me to get a full sound with my left ring finger. Practice, practice.
Hi Ken, you are the best drum teacher I found online, I am a beginner, so your explanation is understandable, straight, clear and natural; I ordered my drum and looking forward to practising with you; thank you very much.
Love this video. I prefer holding the drum to resting it on my leg. I initially was taught the balance method. I will be doing this daily now to get myself back into the strength and rhythm.
I love you so much !!! 😘This is the best video for the very beginner , found on line. Im just holding my new frame drum ( delivered today ) and following you . Im so excited and happy. Thank you very much.🌞
Though I use this style the least, the one thing I like about it is how much louder a drum sounds when held in this way. Especially outside, where there is no echo like in a room.
Many drumming traditions use a type of syllabic system which imitates the sounds of the drum. This particular set of syllables is commonly used when learning to play drums of Middle Eastern origin.
Thank you sooooo much! 😊 Love your channel

my left hand pinky was holding the drum 🌿 guess my hand and thumb need to hold it better
This technique took me a while before it felt comfortable!
I really like upright style. Easier for me.
why is it called doum tak pa ka etc?

I find this style easier to play than lap style and the strokes resonate more especially on the rim
