Air Canada Flight 143 was a Canadian scheduled domestic passenger flight between Montreal and Edmonton that ran out of fuel on July 23, 1983, at an altitude of 41,000 feet (12,000 m), midway through the flight. The crew successfully glided the Boeing 767 to an landing at a former Royal Canadian Air Force base in Gimli, Manitoba that had been turned into a motor racing track. This unusual aviation incident earned the aircraft the nickname "Gimli Glider"

When a plane lands why does it lands on the back gear why not infront??
It's just simple because the front wheel isn't able to withstand the weight of the plane. The rear gears are able to withstand the weight of the plane.
It is done to do a smooth landing....and if the nose wheel touches down first the plane may be out of control....
For example if you are jumping from a height you use your legs to touch down the ground and not your hands..😅
If the plane would land it could land oo both the wheels why only back
@@deepakarolkar9671 if the plane lands touching down all its landing gear at the same time the vertical speed will be more which results in rough landing...so the pilots first bring main landing gear with contact to ground and then the nose landing gear automatically touches the ground.

We always landed freight DC-8 with all four engines on idle from 350 altitude...just like a glider(at night, of course with no other traffic!) Which was 80% of the time! One time, I asked gallons and morons loaded liters(In the USA!)...I thought the gages were stuck but after TO, I had to see I was short, so I just landed again and loaded the needed fuel!

I think it was a fuel problem, it was a fuel starvation and it was a first computer operated flight of that time, hence analog meter was marked as inop, and the engineer who filled the fuel didn’t knew the metric conversion. And they changed it for the first time to kg so not all knew the conversion ratio

Unhone pehle bhi a66e pilots ko naukri se nikala tha for foolish reasons like emergency fuel stops, "not to his liking" type etc. Furthermore wo expect krta h pilot se ki chahe mausam a66a ho ya kharab, us pilot ko always VFR (Visual Flight Rules) me udna chahiye jo ki kharab mausam me risky approach h, aur wese weather conditions me pilot ko IFR (Instrumental Flight Rules) me udna chahiye but since Kobe ko late hone ka chances the IFR k chalte so VFR me hi udwana chahte the Kobe.
