"So he twisted on his injured foot which caused him to go down. Are you telling me Punk literally lost due to a *heel turn*?"
🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂
🤣🤣🤣 Brilliant
Best comment ever 😂
Are you telling me you made my day?
Because you did
😂😂😂
Moxley beats CM Punk, Punk turns heel, teams up with MJF, they become the best heel team ever.
The announcers were talking about him pulling the instep of his planted foot.
Brian with a more sensible take than the majority of the iwc (shocker).
Fans complain when it's predictable and then get hurt when they all of a sudden don't know everything.
dont forget the constant bitching about "ex wwe guys" beating aew guys then crying when the complete opposite happens
It’s not alway the same the person making those contradictory statements
That last sentence of yours.
Nail.
Head.
Just because it's a shock doesnt mean it's good. Those words aren't synonyms. It was terrible.
Punk is channeling 1990s Bret/Shawn Michaels intentionally. It's a work. You notice that every match he works is a nod to (typically) a Bret Hart match? This tracks.
Like Bret losing the IC title to The Mountie at a house show when he had the flu… Then Mountie loses the title to Piper at the Rumble, then Bret beats Piper at Wrestlemania… Moxley sure AF isn’t the goddamn Mountie but… haha.. Sorry, just rewatched that shit on OSW the other day… Moxley deserves it - love to see it… career defining shit….
With all the Bret Hart tributes punk does, I wonder how long it will take before someone kicks the leg out of his leg
I love that you rewatched it on OSW Review. Best channel on UA-cam ❣️🇮🇪
@@sjaw10 can of coke to you
minus the believability and workrate
Initially I was absolutely shocked and kind of out of it for a few minutes after. I thought about it all day and finally rewatched it tonight. While rewatching the match I realized how well executed it was. I can’t wait to see what’s next. And Starks vs Hobbs is gonna be amazing. They’re both great but Ricky Starks is an absolute star. Strap the rocket to him asap
mark
This is EXACTLY what happened to me. I was so annoyed by Punk losing when I took a step back and watched it again I realized noticed what the actual is and how well done the match was
Sharks weighs 150 pounds. No way he will be taken seriously in the ring with a real wrestler. Hobbs out weighs him by 100 pounds. He should win.
@@keni95851 my opinion. That's all. Name calling is childish. One love
@@TheUnDisputedDoc.G and my opinion is that anyone who has that train of thought is being gullible, its not "name calling" its accurately stating what you are in the context of a discussion. Its like calling a fat person fat if we're talking about health.
remember when brodie lee absolutely destroyed Cody for the TNT belt? Or when Malakai squashed him in like 5 minutes. This is definitely in AEW's wheelhouse but they don't pull it out that often.
FACTS dude aew has done the surprise squash match in the past I don’t know why people are mad about it.
@@cliffordjackson3 Because this doesn't make any sense. Cody putting Brody over made sense. It immediately established him in AEW.
Mox is established. He's been there longer than Punk. All this does is make Punk look bad.
Exactly! People act like this is the first time this has happened in AEW. Selective memory I guess.
@@SkySoFew it doesn't make punk look bad at all, he is injured and his leg is broken, how is he supposed to fight??? He came back too soon and paid the price, he also came back too soon due to ego which helps establish him as a heel in the future, it is called storytelling, learn abt it dummy
@@khalidhatim7035 lmfao yes the moron "came back too quick" threw one kick and reinjured himself.
That's the story you say they're telling. How does he not look bad?. He just looks stupid now.
But what you think amazing story telling, you think AEW am I right?
Punks next promo to mox.."your not even the first person to kick my butt in 3 mins, tell me when I'm lying"
The more I think about it the more I love this.
FACTS dude once you realize the context of the aew world championship between cm punk and jon moxley it makes soo much more sense.
sucks that team taz wont be able to go after the trios titles now, that wouldve been another good team
Oh man... Hobbs, Starks and Hook would have been a brilliant trios team!!!!
@@billywashere6965 yeah i know, but HOOK is the FTW champ.
@@RGF91 As if the FTW championship matters lol
But like if mox loses it makes him look. Bad and the same time why would you give the title to mox for one match
Also what would be the catalyst for the rematch Punk lost clean. It would make Tony a heel if he gives Punk the match for no reason
Who cares how Moxley looks? Moxley isn't the star, Punk is. If Moxley can look bad after they've booked him like Ultimate Warrior for 3 straight years then he doesn't deserve a job. Moxley is lucky Punk even entertained the idea of working with him.
No one during the whole match realized it was a squash until Punk actually lost
My criticism is now I don't want the match at All Out
Yep. Agreed. I don't want the match at All Out. Let it simmer some more. I would actually want to see a program with Mox and Christian.
Why not? Genuine question. The squash doesn’t make me less interested, since it was a squash. I’m more interested in seeing them actually wrestle and see a legit main event.
@@infinitetranquilo Because it's not believable now. A legit main event wrestling match between them is not credible now, since you just made Punk look like he has no business in the ring with Moxley whatsoever. You can't have a legitimate main event and have it make sense, all you can do is another squash, else there's no coherent logic.
But it's AEW, there will be rematch at All Out.
What I've long suspected is that Punk wasn't fully ready to come back. Khan brought him back to A.) Help ratings, and B.) Rectify the mistake of having an interim Champion in the first place. The mention of Page was by design. AEW even posted a video of Punk's challenge to Page, on their twitter page, and promoted it. Originally, I thought that Page would get involved in the match on Dynamite, making the All Out match a three way to lighten the load on Punk and give Moxley someone to pin. That way, Punk could be written off, fully heal up and come back later as a heel, declaring that he never got pinned. But it's clear to me that Punk is really struggling. Even if he weren't, it wouldn't make logical sense to have a rematch at All Out, because in story-line, Punk shouldn't be cleared anyway. So, I expect either Moxley to come out on Wednesday, lamenting the fact that he doesn't have a match for All Out and demanding an opponent, or they will actually do the rematch at All Out anyway which would make no sense.
Bryan I'm so glad you said it because that's what I told my friends. This had Mahor Shock value like that Brock Vs Goldberg match and I'm glad Moxley is getting the respect he deserves. Props to CM Punk for elevating aew talent which he vowed to do a year ago. It's good that guys without steroids are mainstream.
Goldberg vs Lesnar was shit wwe booking.
Yeah good job Punk elevating that young up and comer JON MOXLEY
@@Willtendo2 He put more eyes on Darby and MJF, who looked even better after loses.
As far as I'm concerned Moxley is the heel.
Moxley VS. Some JP dude confirmed All Out main event
Was there live and in person. I was shocked but in a good way at the end of the match lol
The problem that I have with it is we're in an era where "Injury Angles" don't work anymore. Because the wrestlers have showed the audience that a wrestler can be seriously injured and still go out and have a 20-25 minute match.
So when you do an "injury angle" and said guy gets beat in 3 minutes, it still makes the injured guy look like a chump because now we've seen guys basically wrestling with every kind of legit injury imaginable.
It just looks silly for Mox to beat Punk so fast and dominating then a week later Mox gets beat by a HURT Punk? Cmon that makes no sense to anyone
It hasn't happened yet.
Maybe wrestling isn't for you.
Try to be better.
@@bennyomega9153 😂
@@bennyomega9153 but it’s still stupid to book punk getting squashed this week while in storyline re-injuring his foot then 11 days later expect people to believe anything different should happen or that punk stands a chance
100 percent. Especially if during the match Mox is targeting Punk's ankle/foot. Completely unbelievable.
Punk is so unbelievably bigger than Moxley as a star that Punk beating Moxley with a hurt foot makes more sense than Moxley beating Punk at all. Nobody thinks Indy death match bum and failed WWE midcarder Dean Ambrose beating the guy who single handedly legitimized AEW and has given them the only buzz they've ever had, let alone squashing him is a smart idea. Moxley being booked like Ultimate Warrior is what makes no sense.
Mox is on the run of his goddamn life and he absolutely deserves to have it legitimized
Imagine that being the run of your life, shit promos, worse matches. Fucking hell he is rotten.

Perfect setup for MJF Babyface turn. You already know they are gonna pop like crazy when he shows back up. It'll be after All Out just because of the location
Why would they turn one of the best heels in the business face?
What's a work and what's a shoot are so blurred in wrestling lately and it's great!
mark, it's all a work
Punk, MJF & Starks Heel Trio 🔥
Mox walked through Punk, then cut the promo of his life where he talked about it's his time now. If they toss all of that away just for a Punk miracle comeback win at All Out it will be far, far worse than the awful TNT championship mess from earlier this year.
So now the company who works kn rankings and no rematches have completely thrown the rankings out the window and will be doing a rematch in 10 days time.
It’s CM Punk and Jon Moxley, it’s a bit of a stretch to say they’ve thrown out the rankings system entirely
You know when Danielson & Punk were racking up wins to uphold that ranking system, you lot were the same ones who said " Punk & Bryan can slot in the title picture automatically because of who they are Tony Khan's such an idiot"
They threw out the rankings where they made Moxley number contender when infact Wardlow was number 1 contender. Wardlow was number 1 a week before, won his match and then even before Mox faced Daniel Garcia, the rankings was updated with Mox jumping from 4th to 1st. He was announced as the number 1 contender And he didn't even win the match yet!
TK took to social media and said its because Mox faced a tougher opponent but totally ignored the announcement was made before the match took place. TK has been awful at booking since this.
Now Punk will get a automatic rematch lol
I remember in early aew even kenny had to go through the rankings before challenging for the title
@@DJSkandalous i remember a promo from wardlow that he doesn't want to fight for interim title instead he will fight for the real championship and no one knows what they are doing with wardlow now
Yo, MJF has to be the Joker in the Casino Ladder match gimmick
Oh this is funny listening back to it, Bryan hypothesising about a Post Chicago Punk backlash plus the Fall Out from All Out
I love Jon Moxley. And I do NOT want to see him lose that belt.
ricky starks should be a world title contender or at least one of the minor titles
Ricky Starks sucks and shouldn't be a contender for any title unless AEW creates the AEW Universal, inter dimensional jobber title.
Jim Ross’ commentary alone for this match let me know that Punk is turning heel. It would be cool if Punk is a baby face in Chicago and a heel everywhere else like the MJF thing
Or like Bret circa 1997?
I'm waiting for Punk lost his smile promo
Really enjoyed this outcome. Tells a great story… Mox - on the run of his career, unbeatable. Punk - coming back from a broken foot too soon and loses to the better man. I’m sorry but no one predicted this outcome and it builds intrigue as to what’s next. Just my take.
I predict it , it was very obvious. Why they moved the match to dynamite 🧨
Yeah the ratings pattern in AEW doesn't support your story there pal
@@michaelrivera8360 mate, I honestly don’t care about ratings. As a fan, I watch a show, I enjoy it. Everyone can have their opinion, that’s cool. I’m just talking about how I feel.
@@haddibashiir2360 you got the lottery numbers for tomorrows draw then please?
Actually it was predictable, considering the stories that have going around and that everyone was saying that punk was gunna win, for them to then make mox win was very predictable and very obvious from how they both was announced before the match started but they made the right choice to be honest.
Looking forward to seeing what happens next.
Cm punk losing to mox kills any hype for when he would have dropped the title to a MJF
Punk HAS to turn Heel. Imagine Punk feuding with Members of the BCC. Punk/Claudio. Punk/Yuta. Punk/Danielson? Yes
Please.
Moxley is one of the best plumbers in the world today.
If they pay this off with a punk heel turn I'm all for it. Unfortunately wrestling has taught me things don't always pay off (thanks wwe and fiend booking for this paranoia)
I didn’t like it at all, no bc Mox won but because everything else. Bryan is coming up as a fan boy of AEW, if WWE would it done this, he would it buried them, facts…
Me and my friends think that Punk should turn heel and fight a face MJF. MJF would get INSANE response.
MJF is their best heel. Why make him a face?
MJF costs Punk the title, Mox retains
“If you put it in the main event spot it gives it away because it was a 3 minute match” gee, then book the match to go longer than 3 fckin minutes!
...Brock wasn't coming off an injury in that Survivor Series match, tho, just sayin. Apples to oranges. And the rematch was months later, not 10 days.
I don't know they're playing with fire with the CM Punk verses John Moxley which is not even confirmed for all out and if they don't stick that Landing then this will just be looked back upon poorly
I agree with Bryan 100%
This is exactly what I wanted to happen
Wow cheers for spoiling this lads.
it's been 24 hours. you spoiled yourself
Does anyone else think Mox is dropping Cena lines on Punk purposefully? It seems pretty blatant now.
Cena lines?? Really??
What makes you say that….. well apart from moxley saying my time is now about 100 times 😂😂
@@peterlee6374 he also said last week that "the champ is here"
Punk turning heel is the likely route, but I personally want to see Moxley turn heel. We have not seen a proper Moxley heel run. I've seen his work before he debuted on the main roster of WWE. He always played a great singles heel. Last year before he stepped away I believe that's where we were going.
MFJ & CM punk both stay heel and go on a 2man power trip (like HHH/austin)
I don’t like it if the ppv match is a rematch, because if punk was injured that badly to lose in that fashion, how am I supposed to believe he’s ok to fight Moxley at the ppv just 9 days removed?
Didn't it used to be "left foot hospital, right foot morgue"? So to the point of it being a compared to a quick UFC bout, Punk went for a big hail mary, and it clearly at least dazed Mox.I don't mind how it went, I'm confused why some people are calling it "weird".
I thought brock Lesnar vs goldberg was better no one thought brock Lesnar would lose to goldberg especially since brock Lesnar came back from UFC a former world champion and ended the undertaker undefeated streak plus goldberg was old but hey everybody got their opinions
That match was pathetic. I remember both me & my friend was eagerly waiting for the match after all the promo work. We felt cheated the match ended instantly.
Goldberg was never gonna be able to wrestle long & perhaps Punk too because of his injury. The only difference is we wanted to watch them fight, & Idgaf about Moxley.
alvarez argument is fine, but you can't do that with a title unification match . if such a match isn't worth a tv main event it means that the title means nothing, right story wrong contest
In the eyes of the company (kayfabe-wise), they were *planning* on the match to go the entire hour, so for all intents and purposes, it WAS in the scheduled main event slot.
never thought i'd see sting vs meth hardy part 2 on tna part 2.
I would agree on it being great BUT I think it hurt Punk and Mox both… mainly because I can’t be the only one that didn’t think Mox beat punk that Page/Bucks/politics beat punk as punishment… if that isn’t true then it’s Punk’s fault for mentioning Page the week before but either way that idea took me completely out of the match/finish
I’m sorry, but Punk cannot win again. Moxley is way too damn hot atm. There’s no way Mox wins that quick, then Mox cuts the promo of a lifetime after the match just to lose and drop the title a week later at the PPV just cause it’s in Chicago. Mox would look like a total dweeb if that happened, even if a Punk heel turn happens.
Oh no. Have Punk wrestle with some kind of foot brace, and then have him cheat to win by taking Mox to Dick Kick City with the "loaded foot". Then for even more heat, have Punk run off with the belt like a chickenshit heel once Mox recovers.
If you recall, Mox's last title reign wasn't NEARLY as badass as his title CHASE. That's how you keep his babyface fire going, even though he acts like an insane homeless man.
Ok, great, Moxley looks like a total dweeb. What's the problem? He IS a total dweeb. How about Punk doesn't win just because it's Chicago, how about Punk wins because he's a STAR and Jon Moxley is NOT a star?
Also, Chicago is by far, not even close, AEW's biggest market and where they get the lions share of their touring revenue. Yeah, let's piss them off. Great idea.
As soon as I saw this match I knew Alvarez would compare it to Lesnar/Goldberg.
The DeathRider is a very poor finisher.
It's a double hook underarm suplex. How is that a finisher???? The double arm ddt was by far a better finisher.
That's kinda weird to me. But hey, what do I know? 😅😅😅
Yeah, the double arm DDT looks WAAAAAAAAY better. The Deathrider float-over suplex looks weak as well-water. I notice Mox seems to use it to go easy and soft on an opponent. I notice when he goes hard on an opponent he uses the DDT version.
I liked it, when the normal Double arm DDT didn't work, he would try it with an elevated double arm DDT next time. But throwing the guy over himself really looks less effective 😁
It is a lifting ddt. Just like with Finn's Bloody Sunday or any brainbuster EVER HE DOESNT ACTUALLY DROP HIS OPPONENT ON THEIR HEAD BECAUSE HES A GOOD SAFE WORKER. Smh. People complain about ish they have no clue about. Just be quiet.
So to answer your question, you know nothing.
I bet you think Okada has a lame finisher too
Should have announced as main event and act like they are just putting match together . More realism
This is not a good story. What was the payoff to Bryan Danielson turning heel? What was the payoff to Bryan Danielson losing to Daniel Garcia. This doesn’t make Mox anymore over; it just makes Punk look weak. Which is a story you could’ve told w/ anybody. 100+ wrestlers on the roster. Don’t play with fire and burn your only big babyface star
So Mox goes 20 with Effy and 3 with CM Punk? AEWs booking is hilarious. Your champ made out with a guy he was in a fight with
MOX deserves a long run with that belt.
He’s already had one the fk u mean
@@brickflair8926 One with a full crowd, while being on the road. Punk is nowhere on his level.
He's officially been world champion since he beat Tana
@@kryceksangel but it would technically count as interim. idk man, mox feels worthy of having a world title. punk, not really.
"I thought this whole thing was great"
Of course you did Bryan. Has there ever been a bigger blind spot in wrestling analysis than the one Alvarez has for Moxley?
When you listen back to the stuff they buried WCW and TNA for then listen to how they just give AEW a pass for similar stuff it becomes obvious they are getting perks.
So I'm curious what the Dynamite rating is next week. Only because as it did over a million this last Dynamite. Maybe the casual wrestling fan tuned in because of Mox and Punk were going to unify the titles expected a match, but got an angle instead which may not have resonated with them. We'll see next week if it was a good thing or if its a bad booking choice.
Didn't have a problem with the match itself.
Awkward placing and out of 4 matches, 5 had weird wonky finishes. So became frustrated at this point.
1:26 why would he go down to a twist of fate, neither hardy boy is in the match waka waka
The more I think about it I guess it makes more sense
What happened to no rematches?
This is what it should have been. Not exactly all that happy, but what can you do?
Not exactly hyped for the rematch though...
Yeah that is my problem tho really with this the rematch aspect of it.What is going to happen Cm Punk wins this time cool 50-50 booking and if Mox beats him at chicago you killed the chicago market
No
MJF is going to be soooooo over when he returns and tweaks his character from "general douche" to "TK and the powers that be just slurp former wwe guys, I'm here for AEW and for wrestling bla bla bla." O-V-E-R
Obviously punk will turn heel soon...but it will lead to Punk vs MJF.
Punk turning heel by beating a guy who is a heel in every way except fan reaction. 🤔
Welp. He’s champ again. 😅
Goldberg/ Lesnar II is a terrible comparison.
Edit: Goldberg beat Lesnar at WM and stops wrestling. Over a decade later he comes back and buries Lesnar who is on top of the world and unbeatable. Nobody thought an old rusty Goldberg stood a chance and he squashed former UFC champ Lesnar like it was 1998.
That was nothing like Moxley burying Punk
Best analysis yet
Moxley said that he'll take on anyone. So, I would have MJF return. Announce that Tony Khan has finally paid up and because MJF is better than you, and you know it. He had a AEW World Title shot included in his contract and he's going to use it at ALL OUT vs Moxley. Then I would have MJF beat Moxley.
Now Moxley can drag the AEW title through garbage indie shows bleeding and kissing people.
If I wanted to see men fighting, bleeding and kissing, I'd watch Oz again.
How dare you not appreciate the monotonous garbage wrestling of Jon Moxley and this crappy booking 😠
@@xShoTime83x It’s ok when Ric Flair does it!
1st bit of decent story tellin in AEW in ages lol
everytime i see people whining about stuff like this they show theyre not very smart at following stories or noticing things
MJF's best work was with Richard Holliday -- where their obnoxious shtick could feed off one another. He is an on-the-cutline wrestler....without the golden motormouth, there is no way his in-ring work would earn him paychecks. And the repetitiveness of the Andrew Dice Clay persona makes ya wonder if he is in a very long and tedious audition to hopefully star in a Diceman biopic.......if a side hustle script writer ever gets around to making a pitch to a streaming service.
Guys...Punk/MJF/Gresham are going to be a group. It has been made so blatantly obvious with these BS "leaks".
Mox is going to be protected as always. He's not going to lose clean
Send Mox to Japan. Get him ready for the IWGP Title
I thought it was perfect!!! No One expected CM Punk to lose "Squash Match" style... Plus the fans weren't too behind him for this one.. The RIGHT guy WON!!
CM Punketty jobbing to the Johns of wrestling, love to see it. 10/10 Dynamite.
boy the shot they got of Mox celebrating then cutting back to Punk with the face of having to watch as the people cheer the other guy was very good.
People saying Punk isn’t an athlete. Have you seen Moxley wrestle? That boneheaded bum has two moves. His finisher is a DDT. Calm down
They do realize that punk is not really injured lol
I have no issues.
Then again I had no issues with Kofi vs Brock and Bryan flipped out over it. Bryan is correct...not every match needs to go long. It doesn't make you look weak especially when you've been established already.
With that said I think this story can fall apart very quickly. In my mind the worst thing you can do is have a clean rematch in Chicago with Punk still blatantly injured and suddenly its a 30 minute banger with Punk winning. No...terrible storytelling. This wasn't Punk making a 'mistake'...it was him going into the ring too soon and being punished for it because AEW is full of top tier athletes who will destroy you. Don't ruin the story by making Moxley look like a total chump while Punk learns absolutely nothing from this match and is rewarded for it.
I'm curious where they go from here and that's the goal of their tv show so I'd call it a success.
I agree with the "not every match needs to go long" argument. Goldberg spearing Brock out of his boots out of nowhere was so much fun. Mox beating an injured Punk up was fun. Brock squashing Kofi was insulting.
But Kofi getting squashed by Brock was just insulting and in theory inconsistent with the previous matches. Bryan lost to Brock but gave him hell at survivor series. Bryan then became an "unstoppable heel champion". Kofi beat Bryan clean at Mania. Brock picks Kofi up and pins him in 8 seconds.
Matches arent angles, angles arent matches. This bullshit was an ANGLE not a fucking match. Its such bait and switch WWE garbage. This is why people have stopped watching WWE, and now AEW is copying him
@@keni95851 Honestly...this is the opinion I fully expected Bryan to have about the match. I was ready to defend it but was surprised he was cool with it as well. Your not wrong by the way. It didn't bother me but that doesn't mean I expect everyone else to just go along with it either.
@@r4nd0m1zer2 With regards to Kofi I was completely fine with it because he was presented as the underdog who kept overcoming the odds. He had a ton of big wins in quick succession leading to that Brock fight and for me the shock win was appropriate. This man can't just withstand everything and always endure.
Of course that's also where WWE completely screwed up and I get 100% on board with the hatred of the Kofi story. The man needed to stay at the top of the card. He needed to continue being the threat to others that he was as champion. Even if he was seen as beneath Brock that's fine. Plenty of top talent are booked as beneath Brock and Roman but are still top card threats that can be slotted in when needed. If they wanted to tell a long term redemption fight with belt or no belt on the line they could have as well.
CM Punk should not win the AEW World title again. Him with that belt is a curse. It was sad when he beat Hangman for the belt too.
Such AEW shills round here this was hot garbage and I'm a big AEW fan from day one the booking is so sporadic
Obviously the “Elite” asked Bryan to condition fans to turn on Punk
Towing that company line Bryan 👍
So u blow this big match on free tv only to turn around and do it again at All Out. I don't care; that decision sucks imo. I'm liking Aew and Wwe at the moment but I challenge them to be more creative. You need more!
Good to hear Bryan talking sense - every other wrestling news site and channel is jumping on the anti-AEW bandwagon since Papa H has taken over the E and it's gross. Just because one company is getting better you don't have to cultivate the narrative that the other is in decline. Thank god for the Wrestling Observer. AEW consistently puts on good to great shows each week regardless of any apparent "backstage drama".
Bryan comes in hot. Immediately jobs to a jabroni. Momentum killed.
MJF starts a hot angle. Disappears. Momentum killed.
Wardlow gets hot. Immediately after beating his rival he clowns around. Momentum killed.
Punk returns hot. Jobs in his first match back against garbage man. Momentum killed.
Rinse and repeat.
Same with Eddie Kingston, he had so much momentum after the Punk feud and it was all wasted. Unfortunately going to have to add FTR to that list soon as well
Punk aint lucky in Cleveland
