A high school wrestling champion and hard working student, Katy Funai is well liked by her friends and peers, but has also faced the pain of bullying. Threatened by classmates while attending intermediate school, Funai spent a great deal of time in the counselor's office and would often cry from her emotional pain. During the year she was being picked on, Funai would often go to the nurse's office. It was there she met an adult who helped her through her struggles. Due to this support, Funai was able to conquer her fears, and even though she considers the experience of being bullied a negative one, these events have made her a stronger person. She advises others who are being bullied to be strong, to not give up, and to seek out the support of an adult who can help. This story was told by students of Hilo High School.
