Here's the thing - please don't hate, open your mind here - I think that the *writing* for Clara was a bit off. She started as a mystery for the Doctor to solve, then became his buddy and sort of caretaker... But then I feel like the writers ran out of ideas for what to do with her, and I didn't like either of her endings from a story perspective much. I think a big part of that is to do with Jenna's innate adorableness and her audience appeal putting the writers in the awkward spot of not being able to write Clara out once her arc was over.
