Just came across this POD. Subbed right after your intro. Sober 34yrs and in AA. Thank you for your service. I'm a alcoholic son of a sober Alcoholic who died with 52 yrs.
What a great podcast. I relate to just about every single thing you guys said. One thing I would do to keep myself in denial- watch the alcoholism episodes of Intervention- and tell myself “THOSE are the people with the problem.. not me- even tho I drank an entire bottle of straight rum on a nightly basis). I was caught in the death grip of alcoholism. Physically dependent. The morning withdraws were awful and unbearable. So much more to my story. Nine years sober now- but no matter how much time goes by, the problem is always within arms reach. It’s never distanced by time.
For the vast majority, a very high price is paid on our way to recovery. There is just no getting around that! It is ONLY when we have reached the end of our endurance physically, mentally, emotionally, and morally, that we stand any chance of achieving sobriety. The good news, however, is that long term recovery is not only possible, but probable..."IF" we are willing to "live differently". What I think will NOT save me. What I say will NOT save me. It's what I "DO" that determines my fate. We have many sayings in sobriety, a few of them being complete nonsense, but the one I have experienced to be absolutely true is, "Bring the body, and the mind will follow"...or if you prefer, "Get busy livin, or get busy dyin"! ✌❤ Mark
Great show, congrats to you both. Been there done that. 43 yrs sober from full addiction/dependency. Keep up the good work, your a natural. I'm sure you will end up helping many people. Good Luck. Jim in Reno NV. Take care 😀 God Bless

Brilliant share thank you ❤
And for clarity, it’s not just Notre Dame, prisons, gangs, etc. Alcoholics are found many other places as well.
