Cuban's are terrifying. They're practically terrestrial, extremely intelligent, lightning fast, and have a mean streak a mile wide. That said, I love them. They're so unique among Crocs, and are fascinating to watch. It's such a shame they're so endangered. I really want to see more of them.

Patience is the key. Selecting natural behaviours to reward and reinforce definitely requires an understanding of the queues displayed by the animal. Clearly your hard work is paying off. Your love of wildlife gives me hope that you are reaching more people each day with your message of conservation and education. Thank you, even with the risk, you continue to do what you do love. Congrats to you both. Stay safe.

I just started watching this channel not long ago but watching old videos to this, the growth in these gators has me totally mind blown kinda but also you can see that the only reason these animals are so comfortable and adapting is because they have somebody that is conforming and adapting with them as well. This guy is a croc expert, he stays his distance and doesnt get too comfortable, he can tell when a croc is going to strike or gets aggro... and i think this is the best form of training. But training can only go so far, a hungry croc is a wild animal apex predator, closest thing to dinosaurs in a way, I personally would never go near one but i love watching these videos.

They were heavily hunted after the Cuban revolution imposed food restrictions on the population. Before Castro you could find crocs not only in the swamps but in every river in the wild. Cubans in order to have some protein literally eat and hunted down the whole animal population of the island.

If you crouch in front of these crocodiles, you are visually reducing your size. Does it make them more likely to attack you? If it does, does it impede their training?

It depends on how passive you’re thinking. Casper (the one he does underwater events with) is very passive and swims with him without an issue usually. He said that although Casper would never try to lunge at him, that if he did somehow get attacked by other gators, Casper would likely take advantage of that and join in once he’s down as well
