Especially when Mumbo cuts at 22:14 from the waste zone to the little town and despite previous looking so cluttered and lived in, it looked really bare and empty without any armour stand magic. Really excited for when it gets populated and we could have Big Ron in the store as well!
Via Armorstands, you should make a group of Mumbos trying to figure out what's wrong with the redstone of a contraption they built. And one of them ends up finding a small Grian with a bag of potatoes and is placing one into a hopper. Would be a good reference to Season 6. Also there should be just an Armorstand of Iskall near the toxic waste while holding a device to see how hazardous it is.
MUMBO- All the people in the village should be you- clones- just insane- idk the lore, but every one of the magic mountain villagers should be you in a different outfit, with potentially different hair and mustaches, or literally every skin is unique minus the mustace. Maybe mumbo prime was lonely and made clones, but whatever the case, city of mumbo

13:02 As a hobby game developer, let me tell you transparency in video games is very tough. Transparency is view order dependent, and requires looking up the current fragment color, which makes it difficult to implement correctly and computationally expensive(in a regular triangle-rasterizer based renderer). A lot of games have "bugs" like this(related to depth sorting).

As someone who used to live in an area where there was a bit of pollution getting dumped into a river, you should consider taking the green spillage that's in the river and having it curve in the direction of the flow of the current, thinning out as it gets further from the source. Obviously Minecraft rivers don't actually have a current, but you can just pick a direction that makes sense (towards the nearest large body of water for instance) and go with that.

That toxic waste looks amazing! In the lore of the waste eroding and wrecking the environment around it, I think it would be cool to replace a couple of the hay bales beside the sludge with some dried kelp blocks to make it look wilted or composted.
Mumbo! This is by far my favourite POV of any season of Hermitcraft so far. You said at the start of the season you wanted to do it differently, slow it all down, take your time, and wanted us to feel connected to every block, and honestly I can say you've done just that. I honestly think you're revolutionising(for a lack of a better word) this type of content on the way your doing your world building by taking it outside of the game, with the buisness cards, concept arts etc. Part of the beauty of hermit craft is slowly seeing the base come together, and I think you've nailed the pace of that. Keep it up, we're all really enjoying this version of mumbo (P.S I totally thought the scar in the thumbnail was real.)
This is the best way I've ever seen Cleo help someone with armor stands. Not just asking Cleo to do it and leaving her to herself but actually learning how to do it yourself and interacting with her during that.
I fully agree, it was so sweet seeing Mumbo not just ask Cleo to do it for him, though we all know they wouldn’t mind doing that, but asking them to teach him some basics so he can add some things in himself. Mumbo is just so sweet, and he is being added to my list of Most Wholesome Hermits.

Between the approach with all the visuals, the mood boards, the behind the scenes, the prototype art, and all the different thing's you've been doing. Your episodes have just been a great balance of fun with friends, building, experimenting, redstone. You are just killing it! Thank you for another killer episode.
Ren's head was perfect for that as well because he has those glasses. I could imagine whatever organization that is doing this handing out hazmat suits and when it gets to Ren they just toss a pair of glasses like "You'll be fine"
Cleo teaching Mumbo armor stands wasn't something I knew I needed, but now I'm glad it exists. Suggestion, you could give the Keralis that's taking a sample a potion in his hand instead of an empty bottle. Potions of night vision are bright green.
I think that dead bushes would be an awesome addition to the area by the toxic waste. It would tie in the crops and also show that the crops are dead. If you cant place them on mud, you could armour stand them.
Cleo was a teacher so she probably has good patience but I can definitely see her swearing off camera out of frustration due to using the armor stand book
When it comes to adding armour stands into the rest of the base, I think it would be funny if there was one person in safe storage who got a raw deal and the opening system for their garage doesn’t work so they are trying to lift the door open with brute strength.
You gotta love how accessible they devs of the armour stand mod made their mod! Hats off to the team its been so cool to see more hermits tackling amour stands and bringing more life to their builds with it!
Go back farther than that: during the Big Base Swap, Cleo took Keralis' impressive yet sterile city and staged a whole *superhero* battle across the skyline. While you're going back in time, make sure to catch the giant... bird that Keralis added to Cleo's zoo.

Watching mumbo this season has been SOO MUCH FUN... The way mumbo has approached building his base this season, how his episodes are planned n such have been way more engaging than ever before imo. I think the attachment to making a 'mega base each season for the sake of it' burnt out alot of creativity and that showed with how soo many bases in the past were just abandoned or rushed because they were just taking too long. So mumbo's base this season already feels miles better than his previous 2 or maybe even 3 seasons. There's soo much more depth in the build, the reasoning behind each block, the DETAIL and most importantly, mumbo seems like he's wayy more happy with each build rather than it seeming like a task to check off a list each episode.
I feel very similarly! I think it has a lot to do with the stories and the lore he's creating for his build. I mean, his season 7 base had a bit of lore, and his sources of inspiration for season 8 were gorgeous, but I every now and then got the feeling he was having way more fun with Hermit Challenges and his Peace, Love, & Plants/Potato Man bits than the builds themselves. Season 9 he seemed to enjoy himself the most while interacting with other hermits, building just seemed to stress him out? I'm glad he's enjoying himself and having so much fun this season, and taking it slow
These armor stands are a great touch, they bring so much life to the entire scene! Personally, I would love it if panicking Keralis literally had a trail of "Dont panic" signs behind him that he placed down on every second block in his hysteria
My immediate thought while Mumbo was killing fish was "Mutated Super Salmon!" And honestly, I think that could really work! Like, instead of being dead, it's got wings and is flying above the water or something similar. You could go crazy and run with it!

Dude, Mumbo. Its amazing to see how far you have come and how much you have grown in regards to your skills. You ain't just that "it's actually quite simple, really" red stoner we all started watching at the start. You are the amateur builder and armor stand user now (along with future MC dance dance revolution master lol). It's honestly something to behold, being able to see this slow progression of getting out of the usual norm and not just developing new skills but picking the up very quickly. Legitimately can't wait to see what direction you'll go in next. Also, wanted to say, your armor stand work is fricken amazing and funny af. Im sure Cleo will pass by this build of yours and have to take a moment to stop and just admire how well you already took to this. Keep it up man.
I really do want to point out that even just this episode, you’ve shown so much growth with your building. I can see that armour stands are going to become a subtle but powerful asset, and your texturing in the ooze, using deep slate and mud, was a great choice. Your base is coming along amazingly, and I hope you are taking on the compliments the other Hermits have been giving you this season. I could almost hear the smile through the whole episode!
Mr Jumbo, this has been the most fun I had watching a video with my morning coffee in a while. You learnt the basics of armorstanding amazingly quickly (i'd know, i've tested some also) and yes, your vision is exactly what was missing in this place : a funny, comic book like little scene, that will make anybody stop and look and smile. 16:15 helpful tip! Instead of breaking and replacing the dirt blocks with mud, grab a single bottle and spam click while underwater to automatically fill the bottle and turn dirt into mud
Brilliant! It's amazing how much of a story you can tell with the armor stands. Also, ren holding keralis out as keralis flails around, trying to get a sample whilst ren tries to keep his head away from the toxic sludge, is easily one of the best things I've seen all season. Genuinely laughed out loud
For where the sludge goes into the river, a potential idea could be to add on the sides of the river(still in the water though) azalea leaves and moss with large ferns and small dripleaf on to look like some sort of large algae patches which do occur quite often when large amounts of nutrients pollute water places
This happens most commonly with runoff from agricultural fields. The extra nutrients make their way into rivers and feed the plants there. If it gets bad enough and spreads out over a wide enough area, they can create a dead zone. The lack of oxygen will kill all of the fish in that area and it turns into barren seafloor.
Oh man, with the level of detail and worldbuilding Mumbo is doing around every building's history this season, I genuinely cant imagine how insane he's going to go with armor stands. I feel like they are just a matter of practice, and since Mumbo already seems to be pretty proficient with them for his level, I hope we end up with another armorstand master like Cleo (as if he wasnt already amazing at redstone and building)

I wanted to say how much I've been enjoying your build process this season, particularly the explanation of your process and how you've been kind of been learning and growing with each build. As a traditional "function over form" builder myself who is also trying to level up my form game, this has been very inspirational. In fact, your idea to make a sketch of your ideal build, ignoring what is actually possible in-game, has directly inspired me to do the same for my Valheim builds, and I am really excited to see how it turns out based on my sketches (Which I am very proud of). Thank you for being you, Mumbo, and a special thanks for all you've done this season!
Mumbu is the best Minecraft builder. His buildering skills are bar none. He's the builderest I'd ever beholded. Just look at all those buildingings. Imagine if he did redstone too...

I think soul sand for bubbles in the water and smoke coming from the toxic waste would really sell the effect even more, plus the soul sand blends in with the mud.
It's so cool to see how much fun you're having with all the silliness and build details! It really is the most fun part of building, trying silly little things and discovering how well they actually work.
Big Ron should become a snail. That way Mumbo, Grian, and Gem can just write off the whole diamond fiasco as Ron's enterprising but morally questionable niece and nephew who "borrowed" their uncle's shop front for a bit while he was "out of town".
I don't think I should be this affected by Mumbo using Cleo's preferred pronouns. It's really nice to see. It's good to know that there are some decent people who will idk just be kind and supportive.

Hey Mumbo, for the toxic waste in the actual river, you could used weathered copper grates, which can be waterlogged. That would give the effect as well, but not so the weird transparent water thingy… hope this helps!

Mumbos toxic sludge reminds me of Iskall's base in S5 where the convex (scar and cub) pranked iskall by flooding his base with toxic sludge. Funnily enough, I believe mumbo was playing the part of a fisherman in a boat being engulfed in the sudge during the prank.
I hope there will be an episode where you just sort all your stuffs. Armor enchantments, tool enchantments, sorting of resources in corresponding Shulker box and dyeing them and putting them inside the ender chest. Just like what you did on season that I can't remember, I'm sorry :D But holy moly, I love this unhinged Mumbo Jumbo. Love your vids!
@tijuanawoman I wouldn't say Eldritch, when I think Eldritch I think mountain-sized or bigger shrouded in darkness and mystery. It's the unknown that makes it scary. Cleo's build is scary because of what we see and know
Seeing how that statue was posed, my instinct was to start screaming, "Lift with the *knees!"* which I think is a really strong indication that he did a phenomenal job making the posing life-like.
It shows how much fun you've beeb having with armorstands since you've had just one idea after another pop upsurrounding them and managed to build up that one area. Absolutely love the whole Ren bearing with not having a hazmat suit and turning away holding his breath while Keralis is wobbling about, as well as the opportunistic fishermanxD they are very silly and enjoyable, and you were clearly so happy with them! Cant wait to see more armorstands showing up with small bits of stories from your head!

I SERIOUSLY cannot stop smiling watching Mumbo's episodes of Hermitcraft so far. He has grown so much as a builder and just continuously does so! This episode had me giddy with the minor silly detail of having the dead fish in the water. The whole story with everyone around the toxic waste river is just so good. I feel a well of creativity after each episode and it inspires me to do some writing or crafts! Great stuff Mumbo!
I think the wheat needs to expand, now that so much is taken over by sludge. Love the effects. I headcanon that fisherman grian is mutating into a river monster due to exposure, hence the cod head. And because everyone is eating the wheat, they should also be mutating. Could have some weird armour stand people...

I think this is a bug to do with the sodium mod.
The "new" Fabulous graphics setting should partially or completely resolve it if I remember right.

Mumbo! This is by far my favourite POV of any season of Hermitcraft so far. You said at the start of the season you wanted to do it differently, slow it all down, take your time, and wanted us to feel connected to every block, and honestly I can say you've done just that. I honestly think you're revolutionising(for a lack of a better word) this type of content on the way your doing your world building by taking it outside of the game, with the buisness cards, concept arts etc. Part of the beauty of hermit craft is slowly seeing the base come together, and I think you've nailed the pace of that.
Keep it up, we're all really enjoying this version of mumbo

This is the best way I've ever seen Cleo help someone with armor stands. Not just asking Cleo to do it and leaving her to herself but actually learning how to do it yourself and interacting with her during that.
Grian's definitely the former type. Sure, he's coded EVO and provided info for the Life Series, but armor stands seem to be beyond him.

I fully agree, it was so sweet seeing Mumbo not just ask Cleo to do it for him, though we all know they wouldn’t mind doing that, but asking them to teach him some basics so he can add some things in himself. Mumbo is just so sweet, and he is being added to my list of Most Wholesome Hermits.

Mumbo I don't know what magic you've captured this season. But I have absolutely loved EVERY episode you've put out this season. Between the approach with all the visuals, the mood boards, the behind the scenes, the prototype art, and all the different thing's you've been doing. Your episodes have just been a great balance of fun with friends, building, experimenting, redstone. You are just killing it! Thank you for another killer episode.
Ren's head was perfect for that as well because he has those glasses. I could imagine whatever organization that is doing this handing out hazmat suits and when it gets to Ren they just toss a pair of glasses like "You'll be fine"
Cleo teaching Mumbo armor stands wasn't something I knew I needed, but now I'm glad it exists.
Suggestion, you could give the Keralis that's taking a sample a potion in his hand instead of an empty bottle. Potions of night vision are bright green.
I think that dead bushes would be an awesome addition to the area by the toxic waste. It would tie in the crops and also show that the crops are dead. If you cant place them on mud, you could armour stand them.

When it comes to adding armour stands into the rest of the base, I think it would be funny if there was one person in safe storage who got a raw deal and the opening system for their garage doesn’t work so they are trying to lift the door open with brute strength.

Watching mumbo this season has been SOO MUCH FUN... The way mumbo has approached building his base this season, how his episodes are planned n such have been way more engaging than ever before imo. I think the attachment to making a 'mega base each season for the sake of it' burnt out alot of creativity and that showed with how soo many bases in the past were just abandoned or rushed because they were just taking too long. So mumbo's base this season already feels miles better than his previous 2 or maybe even 3 seasons. There's soo much more depth in the build, the reasoning behind each block, the DETAIL and most importantly, mumbo seems like he's wayy more happy with each build rather than it seeming like a task to check off a list each episode.
I feel very similarly! I think it has a lot to do with the stories and the lore he's creating for his build. I mean, his season 7 base had a bit of lore, and his sources of inspiration for season 8 were gorgeous, but I every now and then got the feeling he was having way more fun with Hermit Challenges and his Peace, Love, & Plants/Potato Man bits than the builds themselves. Season 9 he seemed to enjoy himself the most while interacting with other hermits, building just seemed to stress him out? I'm glad he's enjoying himself and having so much fun this season, and taking it slow

These armor stands are a great touch, they bring so much life to the entire scene! Personally, I would love it if panicking Keralis literally had a trail of "Dont panic" signs behind him that he placed down on every second block in his hysteria
My immediate thought while Mumbo was killing fish was "Mutated Super Salmon!" And honestly, I think that could really work! Like, instead of being dead, it's got wings and is flying above the water or something similar. You could go crazy and run with it!

Dude, Mumbo. Its amazing to see how far you have come and how much you have grown in regards to your skills. You ain't just that "it's actually quite simple, really" red stoner we all started watching at the start. You are the amateur builder and armor stand user now (along with future MC dance dance revolution master lol). It's honestly something to behold, being able to see this slow progression of getting out of the usual norm and not just developing new skills but picking the up very quickly. Legitimately can't wait to see what direction you'll go in next.
Also, wanted to say, your armor stand work is fricken amazing and funny af. Im sure Cleo will pass by this build of yours and have to take a moment to stop and just admire how well you already took to this. Keep it up man.

I really do want to point out that even just this episode, you’ve shown so much growth with your building. I can see that armour stands are going to become a subtle but powerful asset, and your texturing in the ooze, using deep slate and mud, was a great choice.

You learnt the basics of armorstanding amazingly quickly (i'd know, i've tested some also) and yes, your vision is exactly what was missing in this place : a funny, comic book like little scene, that will make anybody stop and look and smile. 16:15 helpful tip! Instead of breaking and replacing the dirt blocks with mud, grab a single bottle and spam click while underwater to automatically fill the bottle and turn dirt into mud
Brilliant! It's amazing how much of a story you can tell with the armor stands. Also, ren holding keralis out as keralis flails around, trying to get a sample whilst ren tries to keep his head away from the toxic sludge, is easily one of the best things I've seen all season. Genuinely laughed out loud

For where the sludge goes into the river, a potential idea could be to add on the sides of the river(still in the water though) azalea leaves and moss with large ferns and small dripleaf on to look like some sort of large algae patches which do occur quite often when large amounts of nutrients pollute water places
This happens most commonly with runoff from agricultural fields. The extra nutrients make their way into rivers and feed the plants there. If it gets bad enough and spreads out over a wide enough area, they can create a dead zone. The lack of oxygen will kill all of the fish in that area and it turns into barren seafloor.
Oh man, with the level of detail and worldbuilding Mumbo is doing around every building's history this season, I genuinely cant imagine how insane he's going to go with armor stands. I feel like they are just a matter of practice, and since Mumbo already seems to be pretty proficient with them for his level, I hope we end up with another armorstand master like Cleo (as if he wasnt already amazing at redstone and building)

Or he could be standing next to the "nobody panic" Keralis holding a mic to Keralis' face like he's interviewing him, and Keralis is just nervously spewing the narrative they want everyone to believe - which clearly worked for Scar because he's just obliviously canoeing down the river having the time of his life.
I wanted to say how much I've been enjoying your build process this season, particularly the explanation of your process and how you've been kind of been learning and growing with each build. As a traditional "function over form" builder myself who is also trying to level up my form game, this has been very inspirational. In fact, your idea to make a sketch of your ideal build, ignoring what is actually possible in-game, has directly inspired me to do the same for my Valheim builds, and I am really excited to see how it turns out based on my sketches (Which I am very proud of). I think soul sand for bubbles in the water and smoke coming from the toxic waste would really sell the effect even more, plus the soul sand blends in with the mud.
It's so cool to see how much fun you're having with all the silliness and build details! It really is the most fun part of building, trying silly little things and discovering how well they actually work.

Hey Mumbo, for the toxic waste in the actual river, you could used weathered copper grates, which can be waterlogged. That would give the effect as well, but not so the weird transparent water thingy… hope this helps!

Mumbos toxic sludge reminds me of Iskall's base in S5 where the convex (scar and cub) pranked iskall by flooding his base with toxic sludge. Funnily enough, I believe mumbo was playing the part of a fisherman in a boat being engulfed in the sudge during the prank.
I hope there will be an episode where you just sort all your stuffs. Armor enchantments, tool enchantments, sorting of resources in corresponding Shulker box and dyeing them and putting them inside the ender chest. Just like what you did on season that I can't remember, I'm sorry :D

@tijuanawoman I wouldn't say Eldritch, when I think Eldritch I think mountain-sized or bigger shrouded in darkness and mystery. It's the unknown that makes it scary. Cleo's build is scary because of what we see and know
The thing about the lid falling off when you're caring is so true, especially when it's something heavy
Seeing how that statue was posed, my instinct was to start screaming, "Lift with the *knees!"* which I think is a really strong indication that he did a phenomenal job making the posing life-like.

Absolutely love the whole Ren bearing with not having a hazmat suit and turning away holding his breath while Keralis is wobbling about, as well as the opportunistic fishermanxD they are very silly and enjoyable, and you were clearly so happy with them!

I love when you and Cleo interact. You both have matching hermitcraft tenures but you've both gone insane with it in completely different ways (see DDR and armour stands). When the Venn diagram of amazing skills overlap with you two, we're always due for a good time

I SERIOUSLY cannot stop smiling watching Mumbo's episodes of Hermitcraft so far. He has grown so much as a builder and just continuously does so! This episode had me giddy with the minor silly detail of having the dead fish in the water. The whole story with everyone around the toxic waste river is just so good. I feel a well of creativity after each episode and it inspires me to do some writing or crafts! Great stuff Mumbo!
I think the wheat needs to expand, now that so much is taken over by sludge. Love the effects. I headcanon that fisherman grian is mutating into a river monster due to exposure, hence the cod head.
And because everyone is eating the wheat, they should also be mutating. Could have some weird armour stand people...
