With 11 - 12 hours of sleep I never need the alarm clock. With 9 hours and below I always do, and have to force myself to get up.
It is very annoyng when teachers give you a lot of homework that will take most of your required sleepin time and then blame you later for being late or not paying attention in class because you're too tired to listen to their shit.

If you take that long if possible try to stay away from screens for 2-3 hours before bed time. Also, take a warm shower before bed or 1-2 hours prior, take melatonin 5-30 minutes before bed depending on dosage and body size, drink chamomile, and meditate before going to sleep.
Are you just saying that your self or is it true becasue if you get home atlike 3pm or earlier and spend 1 hour on homework (id you don’t have missing work) and then you got to consider essential things eating using the bathroom possibly taking a shower or chores the rest is your free time so 2 hours of those tasks plus the 1 hour of homework is 3 hours 3+3pm is 6pm so thats 4 hours of whatever you like doing and then bed at 10pm wake up at 6am thats 8 or 7 hours of sleep

School is the problem. 1) it starts too early so you don't feel awake or you can't think 2) When you get home, you do about an hour of HW and study 3) You're too busy to sleep at a good time, because your doing an essay or watching your favorite tv show 4)You are sitting in a classroom for about an hour at a time, the get up to walk for 5 min.

I sleep 6-8 hours on average, which isn't bad considering I work two jobs while going to college. I seem to be able to wake myself up at will, and usually wake up a few seconds before the alarm clock rings. If I sleep more than 9-10 hours then I usually wake up with a killer headache.

I once stayed up for 58 hours and swam 20 miles in that time. I started hallucinating. It was part of a relay for the make a wish foundation and I plan on doing the same thing this year with no caffeine this time.

When you're building muscle or just exercising a lot in general, you need more sleep. Also 7-8 hours of sleep per night is ideal for adults. I don't know your age, but if you're not in your 20's yet, I wouldn't worry about getting too much sleep. You certainly won't build muscle as quickly if you start cutting down on your sleep either.
Yo Jaxblade! Your body will tell you how much is enough most times. I find that when i hit the gym i need an extra hour to sleep too. Just take what you need, and recognise when you're getting too little or too much. Rock on Brony
9 Hours is fine for you mate. Your body automatically schedules your sleep time so don't worry. I myself sleep 8 hours and as soon as 8 hours of sleep are up I wake up and can't go back to sleep no matter how hard I try. So don't sweat it :P.
Atleast you have a weekend. I don't have any holidays from school and classes. We have weekly tests on sunday mornings. The only time I get sleep is on mondays. We don't have a holiday but there isn't any classes in the morning. But even then my father usually forces me to wake up by 6 or 7 a.m
I'd actually be interested in knowing if it's possible to slowly build up a resistance to tiredness. Like decreasing the amount you sleep every night over a long period of time and seeing if it has the same effect that eating less does to your metabolism
There’s a lot of gurus and monks who spend about 5 hours asleep and then they meditate for a few hours. meditating does put you in one of the stages of sleep so that’s how come they’re able to do it.
Slept only 4 hours yesterday and again only 4 hours today and here I am at 3:30 AM, not feeling tired or sleepy even a bit. I worked better at work today than what I usually do when I sleep for 7+ hours. I haven't slept more than 6-7 hours a day in the last month and I feel alright.
I like it sometimes when I don't sleep for 2 to 3 days...your brain stops working...you make silly mistakes...you are talking to people but your ears hear nothing except meaningless noises...you can't process things...you hallucinate...you see things that are not there...its like a drug!! I don't known if it's wierd but I enjoy it sometimes!!
It's not as fun as it sounds, though. One guy I know tried to go without sleeping for a week. He said that after 4 or 5 days he saw everything in black and white, he couldn't bear bright light, but darkness would make him fall asleep. The hallucinations and impaired brain function comes much earlier than 5 days, though. I would not suggest anyone to try that, but if you do want to - the best way to stay awake is to do physical activities. Just sitting at a computer won't be enough.

After 3 to 4 days I started to hallucinate after I would wake up from my 30 min of sleep. I'm insomniac or nocturnal...not sure what to call it. I feel much more energized at night than during the day. I have trouble going to sleep and waking up in the morning. On a good night it takes me a good 1-2 hours to finally drift off to sleep but most nights it can take up to 4-5 hours to go to sleep because I can NEVER stop my compulsive brain from thinking. When its time to sleep I'm awake but when I need to wake up I'm finally asleep. Smh I don't know what to do I don't want to spend the rest of my life taking sleeping pills it can have long term effects.
Daniel Li That could be it, my Father was a Firefighter and Cop. He is now an Auxiliary Guard in Mexico city. Most of the men in his side of the family are on the force or were at some point. I also don't sleep well right now because I'm dealing with an overactive bladder. It freaking sucks

1) it starts too early so you don't feel awake or you can't think
2) When you get home, you do about an hour of HW and study
3) You're too busy to sleep at a good time, because your doing an essay or watching your favorite tv show
4)You are sitting in a classroom for about an hour at a time, the get up to walk for 5 min.

I sleep 6-8 hours on average, which isn't bad considering I work two jobs while going to college. I seem to be able to wake myself up at will, and usually wake up a few seconds before the alarm clock rings. If I sleep more than 9-10 hours then I usually wake up with a killer headache.

I once stayed up for 58 hours and swam 20 miles in that time. I started hallucinating. It was part of a relay for the make a wish foundation and I plan on doing the same thing this year with no caffeine this time.

When you're building muscle or just exercising a lot in general, you need more sleep. Also 7-8 hours of sleep per night is ideal for adults. I don't know your age, but if you're not in your 20's yet, I wouldn't worry about getting too much sleep. You certainly won't build muscle as quickly if you start cutting down on your sleep either.

Your body will tell you how much is enough most times. I find that when i hit the gym i need an extra hour to sleep too. Just take what you need, and recognise when you're getting too little or too much.

9 Hours is fine for you mate. Your body automatically schedules your sleep time so don't worry. I myself sleep 8 hours and as soon as 8 hours of sleep are up I wake up and can't go back to sleep no matter how hard I try. So don't sweat it :P.

Atleast you have a weekend. I don't have any holidays from school and classes. We have weekly tests on sunday mornings. The only time I get sleep is on mondays. We don't have a holiday but there isn't any classes in the morning. But even then my father usually forces me to wake up by 6 or 7 a.m

I'd actually be interested in knowing if it's possible to slowly build up a resistance to tiredness. Like decreasing the amount you sleep every night over a long period of time and seeing if it has the same effect that eating less does to your metabolism

There’s a lot of gurus and monks who spend about 5 hours asleep and then they meditate for a few hours. meditating does put you in one of the stages of sleep so that’s how come they’re able to do it.
Slept only 4 hours yesterday and again only 4 hours today and here I am at 3:30 AM, not feeling tired or sleepy even a bit. I worked better at work today than what I usually do when I sleep for 7+ hours. I haven't slept more than 6-7 hours a day in the last month and I feel alright.

I like it sometimes when I don't sleep for 2 to 3 days...your brain stops working...you make silly mistakes...you are talking to people but your ears hear nothing except meaningless noises...you can't process things...you hallucinate...you see things that are not there...its like a drug!! I don't known if it's wierd but I enjoy it sometimes!!

It's not as fun as it sounds, though.
One guy I know tried to go without sleeping for a week. He said that after 4 or 5 days he saw everything in black and white, he couldn't bear bright light, but darkness would make him fall asleep. The hallucinations and impaired brain function comes much earlier than 5 days, though.
I would not suggest anyone to try that, but if you do want to - the best way to stay awake is to do physical activities. Just sitting at a computer won't be enough.
masansr Yeah, im in the military and I experience sleep depravation for a week, sleeping half an hour to 45min at a time twice a day. After 3 to 4 days I started to hallucinate after I would wake up from my 30 min of sleep. Let me tell you we had a good laugh with all the funny stuff we saw people doing but I would still not recommand doing it just for fun :P. Sorry for my bad english

Yup ... For the past 4-5 years it's been 0-4 for me . Right now I have to get up for unit exams in 2 hours flat ... (It's 3:30) but I have to get to weight room by 6:00 am ... Not great but it's doable .
I'm insomniac or nocturnal...not sure what to call it. I feel much more energized at night than during the day. I have trouble going to sleep and waking up in the morning. On a good night it takes me a good 1-2 hours to finally drift off to sleep but most nights it can take up to 4-5 hours to go to sleep because I can NEVER stop my compulsive brain from thinking. When its time to sleep I'm awake but when I need to wake up I'm finally asleep. Smh I don't know what to do I don't want to spend the rest of my life taking sleeping pills it can have long term effects.
