I have a green tomato chutney recipe to share too Chef, Firstly take 6 green tomatoes, onion 2 medium size, green chillies 4, tamarind small lemon sized, turmeric, salt and tempering ingredients ie urad dal, red chillies and mustard seeds. Raw coriander leaves also which gives nice aroma to the chutney. Here we will use coriander leaves, tamarind, turmeric salt and raw onions to blend where as tomatoes are fried along with green chillies. After the fried tomatoes are made to cool blend them along with onions coriander and tamarind into paste. Don't add water. It should not be too watery. After it is blended, add the tempering ingredients red chillies 🌶, mustard and urad dal and mix it thoroughly. This chutney goes well with rice. Tangy and spicy!
My mother often used to make.---4Potatoes, 3green tomatoes, 1/4 cup moong dal boiled in cooker and tempered with 1 medium onion sliced. Peanuts, little chana dal ,ulad dal, 6 green chillies, mustard seeds. Hing and 2 TB spoon fresh coconut. This kootu is really yummy with rice as well as rotis.

Edit: If this tomatoes are unripe, they contain a poison called "solanin" and they are not supposed to be eaten. But since there are a lot of colour variations amongst tomatoes (like there are apparently ripe green ones as well), go ahead...

This is one of my fav chutneys. I make it the same way but I just pour the tempering over the ground chutney. Never cook it in tempering.

Well in the south U.S.A we fry green tomatos as the posion is cooked out. Never seen a ripe green kind of tomato.
