  • WINNER - BEST NARRATIVE FEATURE - TRIBECA FILM FESTIVAL
"Filmmaker Talya Lavie steps into the spotlight with Zero Motivation, a zany, dark comedic portrait of everyday life for a unit of young, female Israeli soldiers. The human resources office at a remote desert base serves as the setting for this cast of characters who bide their time pushing paper and battling in computer games, counting down the minutes until they can return to civilian life. Amidst their boredom and clashing personalities, issues of commitment-to friendship, love, and country-are handled with humor and sharp-edged wit. A decorated veteran herself (of film) with time spent at Sundance Labs, Berlinale, and MoMA, Lavie combats the status quo by flipping genre on its head and bending gender roles to a delightful extreme."
    -Tribeca Film Festival
ZERO MOTIVATION will open at Film Forum in New York on December 3, 2014 with a national release to follow. For more information visit www.zeitgeistfilms.com/zeromot...

The subtitles for this trailers are COMPLETELY wrong!!! I seriously hope the movie itself is better translated. There's enough inside jokes for foreign audiences to miss without skipping so much of the other stuff that makes this movie excellent.
"Shall I carry your rucksack?" "It won't help. The weight is in my soul."
"You want to transfer to HQ?" "We've sent letters." "To whom?" and *then* she lists all the top people, up to the CGS.
"You want romance, you should lose your cherry first."
Anyway, go see it, it's a riot.

+Gregory Smith modern Hebrew does not include vowels....not even little kids use them...unless they're learning Alef Bet in gan! If you have the very basics of hebrew then you wont need vowels at all. And not, it is nothing like English. You cant compare the lack of vowels in Hebrew to removing vowels in English. Hebrew is 100% phonetic and English is only phonetic half the time. It's a total false equivalence. I humbly suggest you brush up on Hebrew alphabet and rules of pronounciation. if you do, you will wuickly realize that vowels aren't needed.

+Shachachti Ekh-Koreem-Li yeah, correct me if I am wrong, both Hebrew and Arabic are both vowel-less languages right? That's what I at least remember studying. The languages are very straight forward, lacking vowels and certain things that make it completely different to English through translation.

+David Gasc I'm not sure about Arabic, but in modern Hebrew (non-biblical), vowels are never used. They exist...but never used. The only time you'll see vowels are:
      1. When writing exceptionally weird foreign words.
      2. In entry level language classes (even still...they usually stop using them after the first week of lessons).
      3. Sometimes you'll see vowels in books for kids who are learning to read & write.
So basically, any adult who uses vowels will be perceived as having the reading/writing comprehension of a 7 year old! Not a good look!

So many private jokes for hewbrew speakers whom served in the Israeli army. Great movie, but if you havent done those two, you would miss many of the things that Free IDF soldiers like about this movie.

+‫תומר שאשא‬‎ That's true for every single French, German, Israeli, British, Yugoslavian, Indian, Pakistani and Jordanian movie out there, I'm sure. And even some American jokes will go over people's head despite the fact that people around the world feel they know American culture. Anyone watching a foreign film will miss a bunch of important jokes, unless perhaps they have a friend who explains them.

    Ehy its called zero motivation.
In hebrew its called zero in human contact/human relationship

    • @rockysandman5489

In Hebrew it's "Efes Be'Yakhasei Enosh" which translates more closely to "zero in human relations". Meaning that a person is really bad with people.
