Easier to do it the right way. This is a repair that would be good for a closet and no where else.

Completely agree. I only used it becasue it was next to where I mounted my TV, and new it would be covered up.

@@HomeRepairHub always keep a 4x4 of drywall, hot glue gun from the Dollar tree, tongue depressors from the Dollar tree, spakling, again from Dollar tree, "on hand". Cut a small square piece bigger than the hole. Put the piece on the wall and Trace around it. Take a razor and cut that shape off the wall. Take your tongue depressors and put some hot glue on them slide them into the hole against the wall on the right and left edges. In a few seconds the glue cools, do the other side. If you use spackling for the joints, put hot glue on the back of your patch and stick it in the hole and hold it flush til cool. Angle cut the facing paper to make a small "v". Then stuff in your sparkling, leaving it just slightly proud of the joint. Let it dry. Then you can literally use a kitchen sponge to smooth it.
Same steps as above sort of sort of if you use drywall compound except, use a couple pieces of tape, take the drywall compound and spooge it all the way around your hole (🤣...). Then stick your patch in and wiggle it until it is flush with the wall. Put a couple pieces of tape on it to hold it in place until it dries. Wipe off any excess. Cut your v after it dries, press the joint compound into the joint, let it dry then sand, primer, and paint. By far the spackling method is easier since it doesn't shrink and doesn't make any dust sanding. It literally took me longer to write this than to do the spackling method. It can be ready for sponge in less than 10 minutes and in an hour, you can sponge, prime and paint. Best part of all minus the finish paint the 6 will cost under $5 in material if you already have the 4X4 of drywall. You can even buy those for anywhere from $2-5 from home Depot if they are discounted from broken drywall sheets.
Whenever you're not too busy 🙄 fix your fix please 😳 and make a video because that's driving me nuts even if it's behind your TV 🤣. Someone doing a bad shortcut and being okay with it, it's like someone holding their breath on tv commercial 🤣.

@@bsrcat1 I don't have a hot glue gun but the tongue depressors is an interesting idea. If I am actually cutting drywall out I usually use mesh take to make sure I don't get cracking. Interesting technique.
