@robstephens actually, I'm in my late 60s. I would live there in a heartbeat. 1) I have lots of house guests in the summer, with extended family, etc. The basement and upstairs areas would get kitchenettes, and I'd add a home elevator. The garage is meh, but with the right engineers and architects, much could be accomplished. As carbon footprints are a thing, I would try to add some green credentials to this beauty 😍
Most 55+ communities don't allow overnight guests under 55 and have rules not allowing extended stay for over 55. I knew people who couldn't let their kids or adult grandkids stay to help after a medical emergency because of the community rules and in trying to skirt them almost lost their home. @@saadgt2009
Someone in good health could get around this house easily for 30 years at least. Large houses keep people in shape because they do a lot of walking in them. Further, if you spend a lot of time inside, it’s nice to have plenty of rooms, especially if you had a big family and get a lot of visitors.
Off the kitchen to the left was the butler's pantry. I think that KitchenAid appliance was an ice maker. This house is stunning. Love all the built-ins and stone work. Very similar to my parents old house.
In the 70s my high school friends family, lived in a " swanky" house with many features like these and wood, not the height of ceilings, but they had 6 kids but it was multilevels with bedrooms and bathrooms tucked everywhere, and new then skylights, and then the backyard was 90% swimming pool. As teens we were so impressed by that " modern house then". Suburb of Toronto.
I think this would be a tough sell in a >55 community. You have all those bedrooms and all that space but really wouldn't have a family to enjoy it. Being over 55 I'd have to pass on this house. Now, back when the kids were young I could've seen considering it.
WOW, that's some seriously beautiful woodworking!!!! I can only imagine what the new build cost for a house like that would be? I assume a few million or more with that amazing craftsmanship!
Dude, If I had that house I would only change what needed to but I'm keeping the look of the house. I'll say I'm in the age range but sadly not the financial range for such an old beauty. Whoever had it kept it extremely well.
I love this house! Very , very little I would want to change. It’s 99% perfect for me except the stairs. I’m 54 and that’s a lot of stairs for me but this house is stunning!
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this house!!! I would buy it in a heartbeat. And I would only make just a few changes, Like getting rid of that white carpet and add hardwood floors.
4:24 Not a laundry room, but a Butler's Pantry. That's either a Trash Compactor or a Beverage Center missing its trays (I think that's a scoop at the top?) My grandparent's house down in the Springs had similar appliances when it was built in the early 90s. The adjoining room between the pantry and garage would have been the Butler's stay.
Cool house, I liked almost everything except the wallpaper, also the paneling in the library is exactly like the paneling in my kitchen which was very popular in the 70s and 80s (I've never been fond of wood paneling for walls). A great master suite w. a cool bathroom and dressing area with mega closet space. Seems like lots of space for a couple, but at holiday season or summer vacation time: plenty of space for family and guests to come for a visit. Thanks for showing us this gem
Mark, this is by far one of the best videos of a house you've ever showed on your channel. I had to watch it several times on my brand new 43 inch TCL Qled TV, and I must say it is beautiful, I'm glad you filmed it in 4K, it gave me a chance to adjust my pictures, sound, etc... You should do all your videos in 4K. Again, one of the best videos you've ever done. Keep up the good work.
This is a beautiful and unique home. I like the colors in all of the bathrooms. I would never want to be a member of an HOA. I don't want anyone telling me what I can and cannot do with my home and yard.
My first thought-Designed for 55 and up, but loaded with stairs. Sigh. Beautiful house with LOTS of potential, but not really great for someone getting older if they want this to be their last home. The sunken dining spot is an ankle breaker/trip & fall hazard. Glad to hear they are considering selling outside that age group. LOL! We have that kind of spice cabinet in our kitchen. I really like it! Gorgeous home & yard with lots of room & storage! Thanks for sharing :-)
I was 28 in 1980 and no way in hell could I have afforded that house with the extremely high interest rates at the time. But the 80s did imprint on me. A very happy time for me. Still love all those colors and all that wood!
Those rock walls were a thing in the early 80’s. My parents put one in in our little house. My mom was pregnant with my younger sister. It was summer and I swear they almost got a divorce over it.
There are some terms you need to learn if you are going to look informed in your business: butler's pantry, ice maker, the difference between attic storage and loft, and sunroom.
This place was probably 200K back then, if not a bit more. I spotted at least a couple nice Kohler Alterna faucets which are likely original to the build. Nice paneled fridge too.
The appliance in the butler’s pantry could be an ice maker, but since it’s kind of near the laundry it might also be an autoclave. I think it’s more likely to be that than an ice maker. The ice would fall out given the door design.
It is well cared for its age. A little dated maybe. My first thought during the tour was the same as yours. Why does an alone older couple need 5700 sq feet of living space especially with all the stairs?
I love this house but I hate electric stove tops. And I would be scared living there as an older woman. I really would like to know about the very first owners and their life story. They had to be very wealthy people because that was not a cheap house to build. Thank you for showing it to us I thoroughly enjoyed every minute.
High-end house with all those low-end replacement appliances. Be a great house for a family, but it's in a 55+ community. Great for hosting holiday family parties I guess.
Stunning house, 😍 BTW, that was a DRY bar (unusual, considering how much was spent on everything else) in the basement. Like my parents' home, the ground floor bed/bath/den area was probably a master suite, while the upstairs split bath & bidet would have been for European guests. People comment they'd do away with the wallpaper but everything is in monotones, designed to showcase the inhabitants. With money, that garage could be expanded with lifts, no? Keep up these videos, please 😍🖖🙏
Definitely shouts upper-end "Colorado" to me. The vaulted ceilings, the stairs, the downstairs bedroom, the garage as the front focal point... Sure, these happen everywhere, but they are ubiquitous in CO. It is definitely way above the norm in terms of features - features I wouldn't need. A butler's pantry, wow. Downstairs bedroom is for the maid, I suppose. Not for me, too big, but I love how well it has been maintained and furnished.
Not bad. Outdated wallpaper and bathrooms. Nice pantry laundryroom combo. Not a fan of skylights, but that french style desk is something my wife would love. Im a fan of the bookcases. I like more land like 10 acres or more and garage too.
Would be great for my husband and i but my grandkids come every holiday and their whole spring and summer breaks so itd be a no go for me. My grandkids will always come before restrictions
1980 saw an influx of cash flow. People liked bigger homes. I grew up in an area that only had big bedrooms and multiple bathrooms. (fairfield county in CT). Friends all had huge homes like this, but we had a small cape on the ocean. As a 50+ year old, I don't want a house I'd have to sell in 15 years. I cant see climbing stairs at 70 and no way do I want to spend my retirement cleaning. We are looking to raise up our washer/dryer so we don't have to bend over to lean in and grab from a deep washer. I would have loved to have this house 20 years ago.
That was an ice maker Mr. Snooty! Also, that wasn't the laundry room. Butlers pantry. Laundry room was across the hall. You know, with the washer & dryer in it. 😮
I would never buy a house where they dictate who can live there. My house, my rules. Imagine being a grandparent that had to take emergency custody due to sickness or death of a family member.
Well maintained with few updates. I hope whomever buys it leaves its 1980 charm. I think it's pretty cool. 😍 However, even at my age, its too much house and too many stairs for me unless that HOA possibly includes housekeeping. 😉
Damn! What a cool time capsule! Hope whoever gets it doesn't fook it up by painting the wood! Would cost an arm and a leg if ya tired to get color coordinated bathroom fixtures like that today!
Seems like a house this large would appeal to very few people in the 55 plus category.
Especially with all of the stairs.
@robstephens actually, I'm in my late 60s. I would live there in a heartbeat.

Not true. It's very appealing to me. I've got a house even bigger than this. Most of us can still climb stairs 😂
Someone in good health could get around this house easily for 30 years at least. Large houses keep people in shape because they do a lot of walking in them. Further, if you spend a lot of time inside, it’s nice to have plenty of rooms, especially if you had a big family and get a lot of visitors.

Wonderful house! Can't imagine building such a big house in a 55 and older community?
Makes me wonder if was always 55+
Yeah, they normally have only main four bedrooms… This is weird
I’m 56, and I LOVE this house. I wouldn’t change a thing
That first bedroom off kitchen and butlers pantry was for the housekeeper/maid/footman...lol
I expected Alice to pop out behind every door.
Odd that she would have garage access connected to her bedroom.
@@243wayne1not really. That way they could come and go quietly.
That's exactly what I thought when I seen the house...Brady bunch
In the 70s my high school friends family, lived in a " swanky" house with many features like these and wood, not the height of ceilings, but they had 6 kids but it was multilevels with bedrooms and bathrooms tucked everywhere, and new then skylights, and then the backyard was 90% swimming pool. As teens we were so impressed by that " modern house then". Suburb of Toronto.
The outside reminds me of the Brady house. I think the machine in the laundry room is actually a butlers pantry and an ice maker maybe?
I think this would be a tough sell in a >55 community. You have all those bedrooms and all that space but really wouldn't have a family to enjoy it. Being over 55 I'd have to pass on this house. Now, back when the kids were young I could've seen considering it.
Love the spice cabinet
Thank you for getting right inside the house and letting us see it without all the preamble!
You're welcome!
Boogie Nights vibe. Burt lounging by the pool.

lol
WOW, that's some seriously beautiful woodworking!!!! I can only imagine what the new build cost for a house like that would be?
I assume a few million or more with that amazing craftsmanship!
Looks like an ice maker
That could be....
It is...
That is a butlers pantry not laundry room. Laundry room is at other end
That maid room next to that...
I would think someone that's 55+ would want to downsize!! I can't imagine the cost to heat and cool it. Reno cost would be huge!!
It doesn't need much in renovations! Just wallpaper removal and take carpet out of the master bathroom !! It's gorgeous as is!!!
I would not change a thing
55 plus, it might be hard to get up those stairs.
And how many bedrooms do we need at 55+? All I see is how much cleaning I don't want to be doing.
I would love to live in that house. I actually wouldn’t change anything until it needed to be changed.
Dude, If I had that house I would only change what needed to but I'm keeping the look of the house. I'll say I'm in the age range but sadly not the financial range for such an old beauty. Whoever had it kept it extremely well.
Love that seafoam toilet, bidet sink and tub !!!
Wow -so cool. I could even forgive the wallpaper. Very unique.
I love this house! Very , very little I would want to change. It’s 99% perfect for me except the stairs. I’m 54 and that’s a lot of stairs for me but this house is stunning!
I agree. It's beautiful.
Nobody 55 years or older needs that much house without any kids to help fill it.
Exactly.
It reminds me of how much I don't want to be cleaning throughout my retirement.
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this house!!! I would buy it in a heartbeat. And I would only make just a few changes, Like getting rid of that white carpet and add hardwood floors.
4:30 Ice maker machine!!
This house feels like home to me, I grew up in the 70's and 80's and I love this house so much. I would leave southern CAL for this place. 😎

I have that upstairs grey sink in baby blue, saving it for when I remodel one of my apartments

Next to the kitchen is the pantry, it had an ice maker, the laundry is in the next room.

This was definilety designed for very affluent older peopel.
I find it odd that this is 55 plus and that huge. This is the type of house that would need a growing family. Most seniors dont want that much space.

i’m so mad this is in an over 55 this is literally exactly what i would buy if i could afford a house.
