A lot of these songs where featured on her movie Crossroads. Like I love rock and roll, I’m not a girl not yet a woman, overprotected. The album was kind of like a promo along side the movie
I'm SO glad you listened to the version of the album with "Before the Goodbye"!! It's not on every version of the album which is sad because it's the only track on the album produced by BT (Brian Transeau), who's one of my absolute favourite producers of all time. So glad you enjoyed it!
As a die hard fan I was never a massive fan of this album at the time but now I am obsessed with it. Loving the Britney content. Are we getting a part 2 to the music video reactions? 🥰
Definitely one of Brit’s most underrated albums. Next up, you should listen to “Oops!...I Did It Again”. For me it’s her most vocally adventurous album other than “Glory”.
Love your reactions to Britney's albums, Cinderella has always been praised and loved, and I wasn't expecting to see you react to "I Run Away" and "Before The Goodbye" those were in fact, previously unreleased in some countries, Mexico for example, I had to wait years to finally listen to those songs.
Yeassssss my fav Britney album!!! Like yes blackout and circus are tops for me but this album has so many memories for me when it came out!!! I was 11 when it came out so it has all the nostalgia for me!
I love rock'n'roll was in Britney's movie that's why it is in the album. Britney wrote "Cinderella" after a fight with Justin Timberlake. I fucking love her
Now go watch her Lonely, Anticipating and What It’s Like To Be Me performances on her Live From Las Vegas Special in 2001 and let your mind be blown 😁 actually, Before the Goodbye was to be the first single, then became a bonus track lol
I just love "Let me be"... I had the same reaction like you thinking "Why this was not a hit?" This song should have had its own video and would have been N1
honestly when it comes to britney she 1000% puts on a show. i would recommend reacting to some of her best live performances like the VMAs and american music awards
The Oops album is super pop alongside her debut. The “cutesy” songs here were to appeal to what she was known for. The rest of the album was a departure, her coming out album kinda, but it couldn’t be as cut n dry as saying bye to the old so quickly.
It's what's known as a "transition album" Alot of artists have them especially when they're younger Examples: "Good Girl Gone Bad" by Rihanna, Ariana's "Dangerous Woman", Xtina's "Stripped", Nicki Minaj's "Pink Friday" and more
OMG! Your videos are so amazing. This has one of my most favorite collaborations of her career. We have JT to thank for it. JT collaborated with father of EDM, BT for the song “Pop” by *NSYNC. Since he was dating Britney at the time. He made the introduction. “What It’s Like to Be Me,” “I Run Away,” “Before The Goodbye” were all born. There was one more song that ended up on the Jimmy Neutron soundtrack. But it was kind of weird. “I Run Away” has always been one of my most favorite songs ever...so honest. If you get around to it you need to review the videos for “Overprotected (Darkchild Remix)” and Boys feat Pharrell Williams who also produced the song. The dances routines from these 2 remixes are some of the most intense moves of her career. The videos from this era are amazing. Including Both Overprotected videos. And I Love Rock ‘n Roll. Anticipating was released in France with the live clip from Live In Las Vegas Performance of the song as its Video. OMG you need to see LONEY and WILTBM and Baby One more time. Omg you just need to see that entire show. Get your hands on it.
Love! So many twists and turns involved in creating this project. It was originally conceived as an electronic album with the working title Shock Your Mind with "Before the Goodbye" rumored as the lead single before Britney went in last minute and recorded with The Neptunes, giving the album a more R&B edge via "Slave" and "Boys". Songs like Overprotected, Not A Girl, I Love Rock N Roll, and Bombastic Love were all meant to be part of the Crossroads soundtrack, rather than included on this set, so it's a little bit of a mixed bag in that respect due to the shifts in direction, but it's still a brilliant record that acts as the perfect bridge between Britney's teen pop side and experimental adult side, establishing her as the icon she is today.
So much nostalgia hearing this album again. This album was like the soundtrack to my childhood lol. I played it over and over and over again on repeat so many times lol. Love this album so much. 😁
Was it really? I never understood why it was kept off the standard release when it first came out because that song BLEW ME AWAY when I discovered it via Napster in 2001!!
It was her breakout album, she wanted to be more mature but still sexy and fun, I’m glad you enjoyed it, and trust me the more you listen it the more you love it, fun reaction, love to see you on your Britney journey 💚
It brings me joy to see you as a Britney Stan now. It’s not just about her beauty and sensual music, it’s also her message and empowerment. Welcome to the club my handsome friend. Look but don’t touch unless you wanna lose your innocence.🔥🔥🔥🔥
I'm not sure if you already did but listen to the remixes too, Overprotected and Boys have remixes. Boys was featured in Austin Powers in Goldmember, which also featured her in a cameo. Man, you're so lucky you got to hear the album with the extra songs, I Run Away, When I Found You and Before the Goodbye were not featured on the US version when I first bought it.
SOOOOO.. The question remains; when will you react to STRIPPED by Christina??"?!!!? Those two albums are like the cherry on top of the pop-cake - haha!
Love your videos haha! Really cheers me up. I think the production is crazy good on Bombastic Love. Shame about the lyrics but I think it's a lead track on the album. Love that song with JT too although it took me a few years to even realise he was on it.l
U should do a bonus edition and listen to the US single versions of Boy (co-ed remix) and Overprotected (Darkchild Remix) 😎 Idk why America got that remix version and the UK got the album version she even filmed 2 dif videos for it
Brad please do Oops next,. Later on when you finish all the albums you should react to Britney's orfan singles like Do Something, My Prerrogative, Someday, And then We Kiss and 3. They were are all great singles that get always left out when people react to Britney's music because they dont belong to any of her albums. Note: An then We Kiss wasnt a single actually but its a "Britney Gem". It became a radio hit in Israel remaining at #1 for 16 fucking weeks. The government had to step in to stop radios to keep playing claiming the song was at the top for so long in order for the radios to give other songs a chance. Only Britney could do that, honestly.
Overprotected is definitely one of my favourite Britney songs of all time 😅 This used to be my favourite album too 😌 Anyway, other albums you should check out: Stripped & Back To Basics by Christina Aguilera, Cry Baby & K-12 by Melanie Martinez
Yasss!!! Loved this once again! Amazing job! You neeeeeed to listen to Overprotected (Darkchild Remix) and Boys (Co-Ed Remix) though! They are bangers but keep these vids coming 🙌🏻
This album is very... well.... Not a Girl, Not yet a Woman... lol Some songs mature and others are cutesy, she's riding that in-between and setting herself up for what would be next album In The Zone, where she's singing songs and talking about things of someone in their early twenties having fun and getting around
For me, that album was the one that represents Britney in her best. Its not the best album, but its the best Britney. Every song could be a single. And it was the beginning of the 'game change' on pop. Until this album, the mainstream pop used to be only teen pop. Slave 4 u changed everthing for that moment on.
you should listen to Fey's album Tierna la Noche (1996). She's the Mexican queen of the 90's. Even if you don't know Spanish, you should be able to enjoy those electronic beats. There's also Vertigo (2002), though that's a bit darker in sound.
I didn’t like anticipating at first either but now I do cause it makes me happy ksksksj ;). Also I totally recommend you watching (like, not reacting, just watch it alone lol) the dream within a dream and the onyx hotel tour. They’re on UA-cam and since you’re a dancer you’re gonna absolutely love them ;) they also have AMAZING concepts and production. (Specially onyx 💜 she’s a legend)
Love Britney, it has so many bops on this album. Next I would do Oops I Did It Again, the. Britney Jean and finish with her first album Baby One More Time
A Janet Jackson collab during this era was a missed opportunity! Anticipating, Boys, Lonely, are very Janet imo. The choreography with a Britney/Janet collab during this era would have been iconic.
yayyy 😁 you should listen to the remixes of boys & overprotected that she added to her greatest hits album they’re really good too (maybe better than the originals)
Back in the day I didn’t like this album that much. But a couple of years ago, when I realized this album was heavily influenced by Michael’s Dangerous I got obsessed!!! And now this is my second favorite B album. I loooove my Britney (Jackson) 😍😍😍
Great reaction, Brad. You should definitely watch Britney's concert "Dream Within A Dream Tour" in Vegas you will like it for sure! almost all the songs from this her album that you liked are included there ua-cam.com/video/4jGWuHQsEMI/v-deo.html
