It is strange that they do not see the sinfulness of the situation and possibly of their own actions. This is a war between Orthodox Christians. It is sad that theses monks are blind to this fact. They should stay in their monasteries (where monks are suppose to be) and pray for peace.
"They should stay in their monasteries". Priests are not supposed to be where sin is? Is this what you are asserting? And what makes you think "they do not see the sinfulness of the situation"? "And possibly of their own actions". What sins are they committing exactly?
Generally, war is a sinful thing. It is much better to prevent it.
...but since it started (these monks definitely not sterted it) the Church MUST be with its people: soldiers at yhe frontline, civil at the backline etc.
The mission of the monks is to remind the soldiers about Christian values at the war. There are many saints in Orthodoxy (especially Greek saints) that have been soldiers during their Earthly life.
They are needed most on the front lines where soldiers need to confess they face death and God's judgement everyday they need God's serventa their with them more than anyone.
orthodox in name only a lot and a schismatic church is involved whhose icons incl. a nazoid element and ukrainain govt. persecutes the canonical church giving its properties to the shismatic church whose head does not have Apostolic Succesiion, and the ukrainian govt persecuted ethnic russians the whole thing is more complex than your simplistic take on it.

For the love of God, stop and pray for the halt of the killing of our brothers and sisters in Christ, thinking that you are doing God’s work. These excuses, caveats, and justifications are so very hollow. Blessings on those who care for all God’s children, in prayer or in practical need, regardless of their worldly ’side’. A soul’s life or death, Light or darkness, Christ or idols…these are real sides we all must choose.
God protect your children in ALL lands-the meek, peacemakers, the poor. Consider whether the Mother of God weeps so profusely to convey her approval or if her tears fill cups as she weeps for our continued desolation of our own brother and sister over lands and nation-states.
Russia is a civilization state, not a nation-state. Ukraine was trying to become an ethnic nation state, and thus was committing ethnic cleansing practices for over 8 years. Had Russia not stepped in, many Christians would have been slaughtered without defense. As an American I do not support sending our tax dollars to a military with legalized paganistic and swastika-laden divisions as such that exist in Ukraine, who openly hate Christianity.
You have the holy Catholic Church. You have 48,000 protestant CULTS. You have the orthodox CULTS. ONLY Jesus can found a Church
most Orthodox followers would say Jesus founded the Orthodox church and there was a split within it which Roman Catholicism derives from, however most would not call a heretical sect as "cult". Ironically your emotionality is demonstrative of those who grew up in a cult.
