Ethel clearly has a crush on Jughead. It was already shown in season 3 when she blackmailed Jughead into kissing her and bragged about it to Betty, who already knows Jughead was blackmailed. I can't believe Jughead failed to notice the crush and thought Ethel was inviting him as a friend
