I'm not sure why you used the phrase "theater production quality series" - that's a compliment. I think you mean "high school musical" instead. And, yes, it's a ridiculously overpriced series for what we're seeing. This is a Disney problem for the last several years. The Marvels has a budget of $275 million. You would never know it by watching it.

@@bradmiles1984 Absolutely valid point but I think (and that's just my humble opinion) that there's nothing in here that is of any "importance" to the Star Wars lore if we at this monstrosity again in 20 years from now. Everyone talks about how lightsabers don't kill people anymore, but what about bottomless pits? No one dies from those. Palpatine survived, Darth Maul survived, Ben Solo survived, and now Mae survived. I mean, maybe architects in are required to put in suicide nets in bottomless pits or something.
I think the sequels are included in the 'people don't die anymore' opinion. Palpatine and Ben survived the pit drop in the sequels. Plus we know very strong force users that are sith can use their hate to survive injuries. Also Palpatine didn't actually survive, he transferred his spirit into a clone somehow.
Hanlon’s Razor. These execs are not *nearly* as smart as y’all think, they likely genuinely thought this would be good & are genuinely shocked at poor reception
It's fanfic. I know I say that about every Disney Star Wars, but I'm calling it as I see it. Disney went on AO3 to recruit writers for Star Wars. I'm convinced of it.
Fanfic would imply it's made by passionate people, who want to tell a story in that universe. A fanfic would get basic lore right and treat established characters with respect, instead of consistently doing the opposite Calling this fanfic is like shitting in a river and calling it a boat.
Fifty Shades of Grey. AO3 made fanfics mainstream. Now the majority of people would rather read(or white) a fanfic than original work. I am absolutely biased. I also heavily generalize for the sake of gravitas and brevity, but my point is still quite valid.
What’s more important than giving the fans what they want is giving the fans what they didn’t know they wanted. What Disney does reliably is give the fans what they don’t know they don’t want.
Mmm...I'd say it's closer to giving fan what they KNEW they didn't want in a lot of cases. Many Star Wars fans are very aware they don't want former canon to be broken. Like, a lot of Star Wars fans would've actively said "don't kill off Luke Skywalker - we don't want that." Some would've even said "we definitely don't want him to die single."
Yea, even as a teenager, AOTC was my least favorite. But at least I found some enjoyment with the Jedi scenes, and we got Bounty Hunter out of it. Simpler times indeed.
The dialogue was a little cringe but it was still an epic and exciting story with tons of lightsaber fights and highly interesting moments. Meanwhile Disney's sequels and tv shows are as dull as dishwater. Overly 'woke' and they seem to hate lightsaber duels.

I honestly thought The Holiday Special was the bottom. Even though I hate the sequels, at least they are higher quality than the Holiday Special. It astonishes me that this is lower rated than a quick low budget variety show set in the Star Wars universe.
After 4 episodes I was so mad at Acolyte, but then I realized its a 14% show on Rotten Tomatoes and it all makes more sense now. It's exactly what I would expect from a show with a 1.3/5 rating.

I like how Mae has been all “My name is Mae Montoya. You killed my family. Prepare to die!” And then suddenly just turns her back on her whole way of life and wants to do the right thing because she bumped into her sister who shot at her.
Movies have shown us that when you bump into someone who's mom has the same name as your mom (as twins do), you instantly become best friends. Thank you Batman vs Superman!
A sister that . . . for all we know . . . she tried to BURN to death. (she probably didn't but yet another reason this decision motivation doesn't make sense).
@@calvinwilson3617 Pretty sure psychosis, not ADHD is what you're thinking of. You'd have to be psychotic to burn your own house down and threaten to kill your twin sister for real. ADHD doesn't do that.
I also thought Qimir(Mae’s accomplice) was the red lightsaber wielder, but doesn’t appear he can be after you pause before the force push. Hands are completely different. Kinda glad they didn’t go that route.
You are right. Jedi do seem silly in this show since they just hang around but don’t seem to have purpose. The Forrest did seem like a generic soundstage for how amazing their budget must be. The interesting thing is that the bad person (Sith Lord I guess) floats down with the force but we never have seen that before I don’t think.

In the 70s, flims were exploring anti-heroes and deconstructing traditional stories. That's one of the reasons Star Wars was so successful at the time: people were sick of it. And now we are in a similar story-telling rut, but Star Wars is just making it deeper. "And that is why you fail."
That's a great point, actually. In 1977 focus had been on politics, the Vietnam War, disillutionment.. Then came SW, which was escapist and traditional, save for the (believably) strong woman. Now it isn't like that anymore.

While I do agree that it’s getting ridiculous how many characters totally recover from getting stabbed with a lightsaber, it’s important to note that in Qui-Gon’s case, the blade went straight through the center of his back and so would have severed his spine.

So why do Jedi need trackers. They’re fucking Jedi.
They need to be adding lines such as “don’t worry, the force will guide us” and “trust your instincts”. Lines used by characters such as Qui-Gon Jinn. Not rely on a weird animal thing running around the woods. Everything about this is so bad.
To be fair Obi-Wan need one ep. 2, jedi can't just use force to do anything. Or at least used not to.

Continue to remind the world that each episode of this theater production quality series cost more than Godzilla Minus 1.
It’s strange. I remember being a kid & loving Godzilla so much more than Star Wars but Star Wars was more popular & commonly accepted amongst nerdy kids my age.
We are now living in a universe where Godzilla is more popular & more PRAISED than Star Wars… That ape dying in the Cincinnati Zoo back in 2016 really messed this timeline up. But hey, more Godzilla fans I suppose.
No matter how bad this show is week to week, I'm grateful that we have these reviews to look forward to.
It has just hit me that I've been watching this guy for 12 years 😮
Jeremy showed more acting skills in this than the 'actors' in this series 🙂
I don't blame all the actors it's just their writers and directors are incompetent. The one padawan was x23 in the logan movie where she did a fine job acting when she was younger.
@@bradmiles1984 Good point but still : Jeremy has no director and he still aced it ;-) All jokes aside : whatever the true reason might be of the shoddy acting, in the end, it's still shoddy and horrible acting and it's this outcome that we see as the consumers... scratch that... as the viewers.
@@echdareez Oh I agree. I'm just trying to be fair the same way I was for Hayden in the prequels who got so much flak for his acting but the lines people point to from him were just horrible. You could of had an oscar winning actor give those lines and it would still be bad. I feel like much of the acolyte writing is similar. Like with the one actress we've seen her act well before even when she was younger and less experienced.
@@bradmiles1984 Absolutely valid point but I think (and that's just my humble opinion) that there's nothing in here that is of any "importance" to the Star Wars lore if we at this monstrosity again in 20 years from now. Besides the atrocious acting, we have no cool ships, no cool aliens, no cool characters, no cool stories, no cool tidbits and lore and so on... Instead, they've destroyed more that they've built - not just the established lore but also the love of the fans. And that's the real shame of it all...
@@bradmiles1984 we are all with you on this
Everyone talks about how lightsabers don't kill people anymore, but what about bottomless pits? No one dies from those.
Palpatine survived, Darth Maul survived, Ben Solo survived, and now Mae survived. I mean, maybe architects in are required to put in suicide nets in bottomless pits or something.
I think the sequels are included in the 'people don't die anymore' opinion.
Palpatine and Ben survived the pit drop in the sequels.
Plus we know very strong force users that are sith can use their hate to survive injuries.
Also Palpatine didn't actually survive, he transferred his spirit into a clone somehow.
Luke survived a pit too!
Boba Fett too!
Maybe we were too harsh about the lack of handrails in Star Wars
Well it’s not the fall, but the sudden stop that kills you. So with a bottomless pit, there’s no stop, so you can’t die! It all makes sense.

It's fanfic. I know I say that about every Disney Star Wars, but I'm calling it as I see it.
Disney went on AO3 to recruit writers for Star Wars. I'm convinced of it.
I've been saying the same about the piss poor sequel trilogy. To me it's just bad fanfic
Fanfic would imply it's made by passionate people, who want to tell a story in that universe.
A fanfic would get basic lore right and treat established characters with respect, instead of consistently doing the opposite
Calling this fanfic is like shitting in a river and calling it a boat.
@@ellobodehielo Yup that's why bad fanfic is more accurate
Don't insult AO3. There are some works there that are legit incredible stories!

You are right. Jedi do seem silly in this show since they just hang around but don’t seem to have purpose. The Forrest did seem like a generic soundstage for how amazing their budget must be.

To answer your question about what's more damaged: The Jedi's reputation or Batman's broken spine.
