Just needed a bit of light in my life right now. Thank you for this song.
I'm a deeply spiritual Christian musician. I thought this gospel song was too "19th C" and old fashioned, especially in its language. But this rendition moved me to tears and now I'll perform this again. My mother's cousin was a recording soloist with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir (years ago). And we still have family who have sung with the choir. Although we are not Mormons, I admire that they believe what they sing about - and it shows.
How thankful for the light from the shore. I watch the choir every Sunday on BYU TV. I am 85 and have been a follower of the choir since I was 12. They fill my soul with the spirit of rescuer every S
Beautiful! This song brings a feeling of peace to the soul! Good job choir!
It's the "lower lights," the little torches that guide the ships among the shoals. We are the lower lights--not always the lighthouse we think we must be.

I'm always in tears wen I listen to the tabernal choir , it feels like holy angels are singing in my home wen things get bad in my home ,Love the church of Jesus Christ of latter day saints
I believe music feeds our souls, this song is truly beautiful
Always reminds me of Cornwall; but Lord, as you've not sent me to live there, may my lower lights be burning for you here in Suffolk.
THANK YOU HOLY SPIRIT for this song. THANK YOU choir . Have yr way LORD. LIGHT
I'm now 32 years old and we used to sing this song at school in class and I had no idea what we were singing about, since we were not an English school. I just remembered the melody and knew there was something about 'brightly beams' after all those precious years, until now I felt the deep need to hear this song once again. And I was right; it touched the depths of my soul and brought tears to my eyes.
1. Brightly beams our Father’s mercy
From his lighthouse evermore,
But to us he gives the keeping
Of the lights along the shore.
Let the lower lights be burning;
Send a gleam across the wave.
Some poor fainting, struggling seaman
You may rescue, you may save.
2. Dark the night of sin has settled;
Loud the angry billows roar.
Eager eyes are watching, longing,
For the lights along the shore.
Let the lower lights be burning;
Send a gleam across the wave.
Some poor fainting, struggling seaman
You may rescue, you may save.
3. Trim your feeble lamp, my brother;
Some poor sailor, tempest-tossed,
Trying now to make the harbor,
In the darkness may be lost.
Let the lower lights be burning;
Send a gleam across the wave.
Some poor fainting, struggling seaman
You may rescue, you may save.
My family and I are living on a sailboat sailing the Islands of Asia. When at night a storm engulfs us I sing this song to comfort and guide me. It is truly a blessing to see the lights along the shore. As in life we can lend a helping hand to all in need. Praise to My Saviour
❤😢😢son of god
My branch sang this for father's day. It has become one of my favorite hymns.
Perfect song for a movie's ending. I love this song so much I should cry. It's just so beautiful I don't know what to say! I'm speechless!
Watching from Calape, Bohol, Philippines. I love The Tabernacle Choir at Temple Square.
This is my prayer today July 28, 2020
I feel lost at sea today.
Have you been found yet dear one? I hope you've been able to see His hand reaching out for you to grab onto. For just as He did it for Peter, He'll do it for you. I'm praying for the Lord to bless you, comfort and strengthen you. And may He grant you peace, even the peace that passes understanding. 🙏
An all encompassing and resounding Amen. Awesome hymnal.
Such a wonderful hymn; one of my absolutely favorites. Thank you for posting this
Excellent message with such a beautiful arrangement. Bless you all in the Choir and Orchestra for providing the most uplifting and joyous music to a darkened world which needs the 'lights from the shore' to help guide us through turbulent times.
As we serve as ministers to our brothers and sisters, seeing to their needs, supporting their righteous efforts, and giving strength we serve as one of Heavenly Father's "lower lights". May our lights be bright. Let our vision be sharp. Let our hearts be full of love.
One of my favorite hymns. Beautiful arrangement by Ryan Murphy.
This song bring peace to my soul,choir is awesome.
Quintessential
Dr. Ryan Murphy arrangement. Typical of his brilliance. He is a gift to this world from and inspired by Almighty God. I would not be surprised if he were the one chosen to write the music to accompany the next Advent of our Lord.

There is an interesting story of how this hymn came to be; it's worth a click to read.
綺麗な曲ですね。
Beautiful sound, peaceful feelings, may we rest and be saved in the end of days.
🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
Reminds me of the swahili version back in college 'Nuru iangaze kote giza litawalapo'...an edifying one. I'd wanna do this again in a different arrangement
So much more meaningful if you know the story of its conception, not explicit in the lyrics.
I'm Seventh Day Adventist, but I always enjoy the reverent singing of hymns by the Mormon Tabernacle Choir. God is honored by this music.
Hi Roger, I'm Seventh Day Adventist, and like the hymn the Mormons. I'm from Brazil; and you?
Hi Roger. I used to be a Seventh Day Adventist. You may not know but this is not a Mormon Hymn. This was originally named "Let the Lower Lights Be Burning" published in 509 hymnals written by Philip P. Bliss (b. Clearfield County, PA, 1838; d. Ashtabula, OH, 1876), who as a music teacher became a singing evanglist. This hymn is known as the Navy Hymn.
Me too, and I'm also from Brazil! Can't agree more. This is outstanding, beautiful, heartwarming... May God guide and bless us all my friends.
❤❤❤ Adventist from UK
You are a Christian a child of Heavenly Father . My late husband's parents also SDA. I am proudly LDS.
