@voldem0rt They are NOT a filler while we send aerial fireworks up, its another display after the aerial show. You have to understand that we have TWO kind of fireworks displays over here, aerial, and ground. Fireworks aren't only exploding stuff in the sky!! And if you don't know where Malta is check it out, we surely have nothing to do with Malaysia.
ground fireworks have double the intensity of aerial, especially if youre up close. you have to actually be there to feel it not just see it in a video
@voldem0rt If you'll watch a number of these videos, you'll see that entire shows composed of these large, mechanical ground effects are extremely popular in Malta. True, here in the USA, aerial effects are the big deal, and they get a lot of oohs and aahs, but I'd honestly like to see more ingenuity in set pieces and ground effects. Since large-scale ground effects have fallen to history here, perhaps bringing them back would re-ignite the public's interest in them.
@voldem0rt First of all these are MALTESE fireworks, 2nd, We surely aren't afraid of sending something up and mechanised ground fireworks are surely not for children! These are the art of fireworks combined with the art of engineering. The largest single piece on the island is 50ft in diameter. And regarding aerial fireworks, we're among the top of the world, having won the 2006 Caput Lucis.
@voldem0rt well thats just a personal view point. i prefer ground effects and they are a lot nicer to see as it is very mechanistic and requires more work than the aerial fireworks. also these complex ground fireworks are something associated with maltese culture as they are found mainly in malta... and nearly all the villages and towns of malta do this at least once a year. also grab an atlas... :/ Malta is under italy hence it has no connections to malaysia
Unfortunately the only thing neat about these Malaysian fireworks is the precision of design that they create. I personally having been in the business for 10 yrs, find WAY more enjoyment and pleasure out of aerial fireworks. Ground effects are for children and those to scared to send something up.
