Mako, Thresher, and Great White sharks actually have urinary tracts and are the only 3 species of shark that don’t pee through their skin. Also the other sharks don’t “pee” through their skin, they actually covert it to urea and store it in their bloodstream and then expel through their gills or skin so to not offset their water levels in their bloodstream. 🤓
@@LandsharkOutdoors that same system is related to the reason that sharks are able to live in fresh water better than most other marine fishes. Rather than maintaining a fixed internal salt/ion concentration (like most other fishes do), they use a specialized rectal gland to maintain an internal concentration of salts/ions that is equal to their surroundings. Sharks and rays have a ton of unique adaptations not seen in other fish families!
Nurse shark is best fried in little 1-inch x 1-inch cubes. we call them shark bites. The frier knocks any nasty flavor out and makes it real firm on the inside with a crunchy outside. I recommend trying it fried. It works good on lemon sharks but that was back when you used to be able to keep them here in Florida
Great fishing & footage....shark is great eating & very popular here in Australia especially in our southern states it's sold fresh in fish markets & fish/chip shops l have eaten it many times simply just battered & fried with a sprinkle of sea salt. Aussies have been eating shark since the 1920s & was originally sold as "flake" & now "boneless fillet ".
I fished for sharks in San Diego and never ate blue shark and we caught a lot of blues, however i was told to clean the blue shark to fillets and wrap them in a towel and refridgerate overnight and the towel will absorb the uric acid and that makes the blue shark taste better. We mainly were after mako and thresher sharks.🦈
Ive never had shark but i heard sime even ice brine it. They may have been tooting my whistle too😂. A fish that us landlubbers used tocconsider a nuisance has turned out to be amazing is gar. Its awesome. 👍
This is amazing - I catch and cook them off a 21 ft boat rigjt off Boston where we go 15-30 miles offshore on it - so happy to see y’all in the local area
So how I have cooked it is crush corn flakes up soak the steaks in salt water over nite. Then coat it in crushed corn flakes and bake it comes out pretty good fixes the jelitan problem.
@@huntersanders47 I understand doesn’t mean you cannot attempt to remove the hook. When he’s going after sharks he should have a long tool to attempt removing hooks. 👍 Even bolt cutters can get the barb cut off and hook slides out in five seconds.
@@davisfamilyoutdoors3450getting that close to those teeth is risky. Mostvl often they do cut the hook. Or there is a tool that catches the hook in the bend then they pull the line away from the hook. But thats mostly for hooks without barbs. But becaust those are high carbon steel hooks they rust out quickly in salt water. And there isnt any damage to the shark. Fisherman like this are empathetic and respobsible in that respect. There are the bad ones though so i understand your concern. The real threat are the longliners and shark poachers. Longliners indiscriminately kill sharks as a nuisance, poachers just take the fins as an expensive prize.
Those are long line hooks in the shark's mouth. They will rust out fast. Generally, the hooks don't bother sharks and feed normally. Think of them as mouth jewelry, and not something serious.
Dude legit thank you bro not only for the content but dam now I can wear sunglasses because they are prescription, absolutely legend bro!!!!! I'll order some when I get some money
It was cool to see that blue shark, the last time I saw one in person was back in 1986 back in California some guy caught on a pier we were fishing. Brining back memories for sure. Great video, God bless and see you on the next one.
Macko/dogfish Are very common up here down east past maine in Canadian Flavored Florida, no one reely eats em, but we release a freaking load when we long line
I have had both warm water spiny lobster down in Florida and cold water lobster with the claws up here in New England. Hands down the cold water is a much better tasting lobster. I have never seasoned it with anything when cooking it fresh in the shell steamed or grilled, then just dip the meat in drawn butter. The warm water lobster is definitely better with some mild seasoning because the meat isn't as sweet.
I believe the “dirt” on the skin is actually ink from squid. At least that’s what it is on swordfish. Not sure if squid is apart of these sharks diet but wouldn’t be surprised if it is indeed ink from squid.
happy seeing these guys doing it right and cooking them up. in my opinion sport fishing is like if hunters shot an animal and left it on its own to die . that amount of energy they expend for the fight can often be fatal. strict procedures need to be practiced in order to ensure a safe release including using scientifc equipment to regulate the boyancy among other methods to ensure a safe release for an animal of this magnitute especially sharks whicch have sensitive systems otherwise you might as well just keep the thing
You need to try Pricky shark too Vic, deep water, blubbery look and texture. I caught one and gave it to friends who said it was good…didn’t try myself :)
The blue fish and nurse shark I think would do with recipes that use tofu from the description of the texture like a miso soup that has tofu with the jiggly texture
Victor been watching you and your wife and family for a long time now but im disabled and can't do much now days I live in north Carolina with my wife im facing double knee replacement surgery I would love to live in Florida I've been there many times when I was driving trucks hauling produce but I can't drive anymore because of my health but I wish I could get some of the glasses with prescription
Next time try frying your shark, but you must season it properly preferably Bahamian style with fresh herbs. Also to get rid of that sometime ammonia smell try soaking it in milk.
Vic, you ought to contact Best Ever Food Review Show, he travels the world and eats a lot (a lot of disgusting things), but also famous restaurants and such... invite him down for one of your catch clean and cooks. He has 10 million subscribers I think.
Just few days ago a friend got killed near the canary islands, 20s after she jumped from the yacht. A Mako has tore her leg apart and rescue arrived hours later since they were in the middle of ocean, aprox 500miles south from the islands. Absolute terror, never would imagine something like that, and even before that, I've never heard of this shark. Rip dearly.
If you catch a Mako that jumps 15 feet, that is the best part of shark fishing in the Northeast! Cant keep Makos right now. Just threshers and Porbeagle
Never cooked a lobster like that before, might have to try that next time. Normally I pull the meat out and place it ontop of the shell and cook like that.

Thanks for sharing I had no idea
In Andalusia Spain „Cazon“Schoolshark is on most fish restaurants menu. They fry it, itˋs very nice. I think they use Catshark too.
Could you quote anymore from Google lol….

So does that mean they taste better to eat because they have urinary tracts?
Absolutely incredible jump by that Mako. You won’t ever forget that.
It was amazing!!!
tell em vic ain’t no SUCH thing as a trash fish JUST trash cooks 🙏🔥 that was a barrrrr
That's been his motto for years ❤️🔥💯
and then everyone roasted the shark when eating it lmao

The reactions made this my very favorite "Catch and Cook" ever!
That’s gotta be coolest jump ever! Way to go Vic.
Your commentary is a key factor, I think, in your channel's success. Of course the videography and editing is great too.
I had Mako once , I swear it tasted like a really good and soft steak. Never had a fish taste like red meat. Crazy good.
Wow! That's amazing

The skin patterns on that blue shark is incredible!😮

great shark fishery over there, makos are a blast!
Love the honesty from the guys on how the shark tasted 😂
Good video!
Blue shark is best firmed by soaking in wine or lemon juice for an hour or more before cooking

makos jump like crazy
What an absolute amazing video!!! Sorry it took me sooooo long to watch! Love your channel and keep it and we will keep watching!
Wow that shot was amazing. But that shark had two hooks in its mouth gotta attempt to get those.
They'll rust out and the shark will be fine

I find mako sharks really beautiful and fascinating fish, I didn't know they were good eating, I wanna see a mako catch and cook now.
Pretty sure the season is closed for 2 years, I think as long as numbers come up in the NOAA surveys they are gonna open the season back up 2025.
He has an older video where he cleaned and cooked a Mako.
Love the variety keep it up guys
Thank you!🙏
That Maco jump was insane bro 😮
those jumps were insane
Let's goo another shark vid
I love the boat your fishing on ❤ and i want to see a King mackerel catch and Cook video love the content ❤
Epic Mako jump by the boat!!!
Love this Boston baby

That Chesapeake Bay fishery you mention is killing the Bay. Flat out killing it.

Pacific Blue shark deep fat fried!!! Excellent!!!

Glad you tried that blue. I’ve caught a few and always wondered
I'm pretty sure the muck on the outside of the shark and swordfish is squid ink
I still buy the HISEA waders that Victor recommended years ago. Can’t beat them for the price and durability they provide.
true chef,shark pretty damn good,DOWN HERE!(florida) maybe not there..cool vid nic,you can cook..staysafe..
Welcome to Boston and I Hope that you and Brook enjoyed the area like me? Steven from Greater Boston ma🇺🇸😎
You need to try Pricky shark too Vic, deep water, blubbery look and texture. I caught one and gave it to friends who said it was good…didn’t try myself :)
We definitely have mako in Florida. I was diving with one a few years ago deep in the gulf.
We do but hard to target consistently
@@LandsharkOutdoors they are like ghosts coming up from the deep. I did get some awesome stills from the GoPro
That crosshatching on the skin is wild
yeah what is that??? from laying on the boat?
All that muk from the sharks skin is likely mostly from squids they hunt. That ink sticks like crazy!
I agree, it’s just a matter of having the right recipe.
I’m from Boston and still know we had beautiful views like this 😂😂
Great video Vik
I'm dying to see the tuna video!!!
That was an epic jump from that mako
I’m making popcorn because this video’s going to get some hate. Great video and great catch by the way!
Love living outside of boston Massachusetts we always have great seafood options but
.i do want to try a spiney lobster 😂
I'd love to go fishing up there. I live in Texas in the desert, gotta drive 2 hours for barely decent freshwater fishing.
If you want to stick by your motto you might have to tackle a mola mola next hahaha
Have had friends who've eaten Sunfish and they said it was very fatty but delicious. They caught them in the South Pacific though.
Welcome to the best city in the world Vic!
Man I could blow y’all’s mind with a cast net catching them pogies lol
The blue fish and nurse shark I think would do with recipes that use tofu from the description of the texture like a miso soup that has tofu with the jiggly texture
Great to see Jacob

nice to see you up in New England!!! Hope you enjoyed it... Im in CT
Loved it especially the weather
@LandsharkOutdoors glad to hear!! Yes the weather is outstanding. 🍁🍂

Those hooks remind me of the ones used for tribal hanging....

The guy tasting it at the end is such a scary BIG BABY‼️ Man UP p’rick!!
Awesome jump. Sometimes, they do jump right at you.
He needs to start doing shark dive charters.
It would probably go good add it on top of a soup with that kind of texture
Early gang wya?
I love 💘 your sport ,one of my dream to do fishing
I think everyone from Maine is hollering at you when you twisted that tail off that lobster and threw out the claws.

That second mako had an old rig in his mouth haha
Old longline rig
Got 2 in now with him leaving his hook in aswel. No good at all. Why not just remove them
@@DonnyRP have you ever tried to remove a hook from a thrashing shark? I’d rather keep my hand and let the hook rust out in two weeks.
Why yall js leaving the hooks inside their mouths thats harmf
They have to use hooks that will rust away after a certain amount of time so that it will come out naturally later and will not harm the shark
Harmf
Mako Sharks always reminds me of the Genetically Engineered Mako Sharks from the 1999 horror/sci-fi film, Deep Blue Sea lol.

Please tell me you didn’t throw those claws away😭 you don’t twist those ones tails off you steam them the claws are the best part
Luar biasa memancing ikan hiu besar lalu dimasak bersama saya melihatnya ingin mencicipi juga sukses selalu bro
Great video. when will we see you in your new boat or you don't want to fish in it
Yeah, I was hoping for a video of them fishing on their boat by now😅
😂😂😂
I saw him taking it back to ft pierce the day after they made the video that they got it
I’m thinking they had some things that need to get sorted out
They did a scallop video with it. It’s on Brooke’s channel
Very soon!
I will never be hungry enough to fish for a shark and eat it.
Try fish curry guarantee you love it
W ‘OW!!!!
Season and salt it. Then dry into jerky.
