I really like this format Ronnie where you give us a shot to use our ear then you give tips of how to use your ear and you also show to play it. It’s super helpful to track along with you on this.
Hello from Nova Scotia. I love this song. You always have a way of breaking down the subtle details of a song Ronnie. Maybe this is where Butterfield picked up his bottom end sound.
How you do it, that the sound is so continuous after you lift the 4 draw half step bend in the moment when you return back to 4 draw half step bend. It sounds so incredible! I cant mimic that...
Hi Ronnie. It sounds like to my ears, in bar three of the intro, the fourth note of beat two doesn’t sound like he releases the bend on draw two back to an unbent draw two, but actually releases down to a one draw then jumps back up to that three draw for the first note of beat three. Presuming that is what he’s doing, do you think it’s possible he’s tongue switching there to left side to get that one draw and quickly get back to the three draw? That drop from a whole step bent two down to a one draw always reminds me of playing a pull off on a guitar.
Try it both ways and see which sounds best based on phrasing. Seems to work either way. It's so fast before he's off to the 3 draw 1/2 step. Either way (2 draw or 1 draw) sounds good to my ear but if you use the -1 you don't need to tongue switch. It's easy to catch that -3' from the -1 without tongue switching. I did this on the fly with no prep but ya I can hear where your'e coming from. I still think it might be a quick 2 draw. For those wondering the riff we're talking about is -3'(dirty) -2 -2" -2 -3' OR as Tyler mentioned -3' (dirty) -2 -2" -1 -3'.
I hear a slightly different thing in the first riff. To me it sounds like he plays the 4 draw to 3 draw and lands on the 3 blow. Then plays the 2 draw bent to the 1 draw. It can be played either way obviously since 3 blow and 2 draw are the same note, but the tone of the note he lands on sounds like a blow note. Also allows the player to do a draw blow draw breath pattern. Just my opinion of course, not trying to be a jerk.
The issue I have with your version is that I can clearly hear Walter crossing that -3 slightly bent and immediately the 2 draw in one breath. And to me, the tone of the note sounds more like a draw than the 3b. In addition, the phrasing sounds off to me with the 3b..it just doesn't seem to flow right. Hey, it's cool to have this discussion however as it's all up for debate.
I could see that ta method on the 3 half step for sure but it comes out so fast that for most folks I think the glissando to the -2 is much easier and if you slow the gliss down the 3 draw 1/2 step will be more articulated as we hear it without using the tongue or TA approach. That's how I do it.

Primich is da master!
Sounds good from Uruguay!
What brand & type of harmonica are you using?
The technique I gathered from this glorious tutorial, is how to properly make that face during a 3-4 double-stop 😂

Ronnie, what’s your workflow for repeating a phrase in a song. Do you use any specific app that allows you to quickly repeat a part of a song? thanks
I don't have one..I just rewind but I know that there is software out there for looping small segments of songs.
From Georgia here. Just started playing 5 days ago. Hoping to be able to pickup on this easily. Your a great teacher
Pick another instrument. Just kidding. Good luck in your pursuit ! Great instrument.

After listening to it again, I hear what you are saying about the transition to the 2 double bend.
