This is Will's iconic fishing ability. He's using Hannibal as a bait to fish Mason. He offers to kill Hannibal but he won't and eventually Hannibal will do that. Pretty sneaky. So he gets to kill Mason and arrest Hannibal.
@Rivière Maritsa it did though. Except Will didn’t account for his own feelings. This plan worked and he could have killed him, but his feelings. Then his other plan was working, he had Hannibal fooled and on the line. He just had feelings about Abigail and had to go speak with Freddy about them. But both times Hannibal was on the line. That’s why Hannibal likes him, he’s capable of fooling and outsmarting him.
@@feelthepony I think it was due to Will playing it extremely close to the vest. He wasn't lying when he was talking to Hannibal about his desires, he even told Hannibal that he imagined killing him. He was being extremely truthful and consciously allowing Hannibal to corrupt him in order to eventually play a hand that would allow him to kill/arrest him. Will would have shot the social worker to convince Hannibal, but Hannibal stopped him, but Will HAD pulled the trigger. What Will didn't count on was that the corruption would feel as good for him as it did, or that Hannibal would open up to him the way he did, therefore creating a connection Will had always wanted with someone else - intellectual, non-judgemental, creative, challenging, etc. So he faltered in his plan and didn't know what he wanted anymore. So he fooled Hannibal because he was basically being honest the whole time pretty much.
I can see how this scene might feel too obvious or chunky for the subtlety of the rest of the show. At the same time, it really shows off the kind of manipulation we see Will revel in during the third season. It also justifies Mason Verger offering up the first cut to Will. What's great is this scene establishes a pattern of Will hunting Hannibal, conspiring to take him down, then betraying the plan last minute as if he can't quite follow through. Love it
And Mason says the same thing about Margot to Lecter I think, but honestly I kinda like it. I certainly repeat myself explaining the same thing to different people
I love how it shows that Will is trying to put these two psychopaths against each other, why? Two possible reasons: Good Will reason - He wants Hannibal to legally entrap himself by trying to kill Mason, then he’ll save mason and arrest Hannibal. Bad Will reason: He was curious what would happen......
@@erinnewlands7544 yeah. Only one I didn't like was the horse psychopath. They were drawing obvious parallels with Hannibal and him and yet, he made me so much angrier.
@@panonymousbloom5405 I found myself so angry that I thought Mason was funny because of the sexual assault and the “summer camp” but at this point I see him as a big joke
@@cactusbuds2979 honestly, I can't relate because I don't really judge fictional characters on their morality if that makes sense? They can do terrible, the worst things and I will still like them if they're interesting/charming. But there was something about the horse guy that deeply annoyed me. I think it's the fact that Mason knows he's terrible and owns it proudly. Horse guy was a complete psychopath yet made himself into a victim. Hannibal has similar "plays" but it was never quite so obvious so it never got my nerves so much. Also, the Mason actor nailed it + since that edit of Mason himself being a pineapple, I haven't looked at him the same way.

Will really does go around flirting with serial killers. Will, hon, that's some dangerous shit you're doing there.
Mason isn't really a serial killer, he's just a Pededest that tortures children and animals.
"SHE WEAPONIZED HER UTERUS! she shouldn't have been waving it around like a gun!"
mason verger ladies and gentlemen
poor margot

“Are you lecturing me about butchery in my own slaughterhouse?!”
Idk why but this cracks me up
Hannibal: the show where even the deleted scene are better than most other TV
I just love how will talks and his facial expressions. I could watch hugh dancy all freakin day.
Mason and Hannibal doing the :o face whenever they’re confronted about what terrible people they are will never not be hilarious to me.
"It's sauce for the goose that you're not particularly likeable."

I agree ,I finished his show 3 days ago and it’s been on my mind ever since

Great scene, thanks for uploading! #savehannibal
ooo this scene is Chilling. wish theyd left this in!
Mason remide me of the joker
I think I can sorta see why..
He’s a mix of 2 face and the joker
Hugh Dancy is so beautiful it makes me mad

Margot was always lesbian even Will told her before having sex that he doenst have the right parts
Margot has been a lesbian since her introduction. She says “Mason is the heir, not me. I have the wrong parts and the wrong proclivity for parts.”
