Love your videos. The raw videos gives us a true feel of your adventure. Thank you for sharing your family, specially buddy, an for sharing your adventure. My wife and I are several years away from doing the loop in a similar boat. Your videos are fueling our fire to get things wrapped up and getting on the water. Keep up the great work and thank you for sharing.
Thank you...I will say the hardest part is that first step and just doing it. Once out here, you figure it out fast and there are a lot of people that love to help.
Are you still on the trailer used to have a sailboat and him a marina now retired in Kentucky Kentucky lake and looking at trailers if you could share some information with me I’d appreciate it what brand of trailer is yours
First of all I just found your videos and I wanted to say a couple things. I wanted to put it out there...then I deleted it.. I was just going to watch. And then the very end, which now leads to this comment. you just can't end the video showing us your instant pot and not explaining what you made in the instapot.... split pea soup? Whatever it is it looks really good.. thanks for sharing a little bit of your life with us
Looking forward to following you. We depart Jacksonville FL April 2022 on our Great Loop adventure onboard Grand Plan, 1973 Grand Banks 36’ trawler very similar to yours.
Great video. If you can please show more and talk more about the lock process and tips for locking. We are hooked and will catch up with a binge watch :)
Made the adventure in 2018. Best one ever. We departed Sandusky Ohio about 8/7/18 and finished up the western 1/2 in Mobile on the Gulf coast. Great to see those old bridges and the locks we got to be so good at traversing along the way. (38 in total I think). How close was your top at "the bridge" south of Hammond?
Welcome aboard....Remember a new boating channel doesn't happen without a boat tour. 🤔 Will you be going South to the Gulf first & East to West on the Erie Canal?
How was it getting through the locks i have heard horror stories of people dropping engine blocks off of bridges onto boats is any of that true or just nonsense
Pretty good job on first video skills will improve. Give us a shot of your GPS zoomed in and out so we can see your location. I'll subscribe. Love old puppy dog.
Just found your channel. The Great Loop is a dream of mine. Would love to see your path, maybe on the GPS? Would also like to know where you anchor or tie up for the night. Is this all preplanned? Just subscribed💗
If you are serious about the trip, I would highly suggest joining the AGLCA, they have a lot of resources for learning and planning. Some people are big planners, we only plan about a day or so out. There are apps such as Active Captain or Aqua Map that assist with navigation and where you can find anchorages and marinas. We are on a budget as we are jot retired, so we try to anchor out as much as possible. Hope this helps!
Get AIS installed on your boat, the safety provided by it is well worth the expense. I've been trying to talk my wife into the Great Loop Adventure, I see it as one of those awesome life events.
Good job!
Be safe and have fun!
Recently discovered one of your recent videos and decided to go back and check your trip from the start

Thank you! The hardest part is taking that first leap and just doing it.
Have fun! Go Blue!
Always Go Blue!
Where does the loop start
It can start anywhere along the loop route, typically either where you live or where your boat is located.

And I can’t remember what I made LOL. I think it was a spicy chickpea soup.
Well done video! We start our loop next summer! Looking forward to watching yours!

I show more about the locks in the Mighty Mississippi video :)
Put a polish on the ships bell, let them see and hear you coming!
Love the GLCA flag. You are on your way....
It really would have loved to watch your video turn your phone sideways that way it's much better photography/ video
This was a good beginning with some very interesting traffic sharing the channel. Bon Voyage and I look forward to following your adventures.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Many years in Hammond W dock. Looking forward to your adventure. Born and raised right off 95th st bridge. The blues brother jumped that bridge!

We are about 16 feet, so we were good!
Landscape mode would look so much better but looking forward to seeing this adventure unfold. good luck!
Thank you.
Nice job on your first Loop video..
Thanks!
Hi, I did the Great Loop in 2016-17. I also left out of Hamond. I live in Utica.
Oh nice!
Nicely done guys and congrats!
Thanks so much!

Not in our experience. They are pretty straightforward for the most part. Biggest worry is lines getting caught.
How close to real time will you be posting?
Never mind...at 8:23 you answered my question. But begs the question why you began that late that far north?
The Illinois locks were closed for 3 months for repairs and reopened in late October.
Great video! Just curious why you traveled at night?
Not by plan :). Decided to keep going since we were close. Did it the first week or so, but not since then .

@@ohbuoy4570 Thank you for the info! Happy Easter...wherever you may be!
Any comments that you have on the way in regards to specifics about Bridges or depths or amenities would be helpful for future loopers.
Thanks, I will add that where I can in future videos.
Glad to see you taking such good care of your dog. That says a lot abut the kind of people you and your husband are.
Thank you. He is a part of our family!

It bothers me when people put black boarders on videos.
We overnighted in Joliet also along with our rag-tag wagon train of "Loopers". Free tie-up right there across from the Casino.
I surely wouldn't follow a boat with trump sign on, that guy has no idea where he's going!
LOL
