- A Hand Forged Tool For The Catskill Mountain Maker Camp 2022
It's that time of year again where a bunch of us workshop warriors get together to show off what we can do and spend time conversing with fellow cellar dwellers over a campfire and a cold brew. I'm talking about the Makers Camp. The good people at the Blackthorne Resort host this event every Columbus Day weekend and they are some of the finest hosts in the world. There will be timber framing, carving, blacksmithing, wood working and many other demonstrations taking place for the entire weekend. It starts Oct. 7 and runs until Oct. 10. You can get tickets for the event through this link: www.eventbrite.com/e/catskill...

Thanks buddy, have a good day.
Prof you do not ramble, you let us know what you are doing and why which I think is a good way to work. Keep up the Fantastic work👍
Good morning Doug. How you holding up these days?
@@TheTradesmanChannel not as good as would want, my left foot has now got Diabetic nerve damage and is collapsing so they have put me on pain killers for the nerve damage and given me an ankle splint to try and stop the collapse getting any worse. Apart from that I am really ticked off as I can not stand very long to do any turning, But I am still breathing so what the heck
Sorry to hear that buddy
Great job Jim! Those handles are really nice! Looking forward to seeing you at makercamp in a couple of weeks!
Going to be a great time.
That handle position reminds me of a fleshing knife for hides. See you next week.👊🏻👊🏻
That's where I first used that style and really liked it.
Good work!
Thank you
That's great work man. I'd love to see more about skinning knives and or bowie knives. Have a great day man!
Good morning.
These videos are great!! Very good to meet you and Wyatt this weekend. You’re a funny damn duo. Keep killing these videos and I hope to see you guys next summer at whatever the timber event is. Have a great winter. Stay warm and be well.
It was a pleasure. If you ever want tips for creative parenting reach out.
Will do!! Be well!!
That drawknife looks fantastic Jim. Whoever gets that one will have a work of art that will last a lifetime. I just received 2 of my wood chisels that was on back order, a 1 1/2" and a 2" Robert Sorby. They are beautiful chisels that I have been waiting for to help me with my house beams. I'm still waiting on the slicks to arrive but they are on backorder also. I hope they come in soon. Your drawknife's are beautiful, I hope to get one soon. Have a great week Jim. Dan.
Hoping to have a batch done within the next month. I just ordered steel to make the process a little faster. I ordered enough to make 10 of them. I have enough on hand to make around 30 at the moment.
Sounds good Jim, they sure look great when you get one done. Have a great week. Dan.
It's never ramble when you are having fun!
Hello Dave
@@TheTradesmanChannel Hiya!
At least you found a good use for the split halves of the handle…..
Nice job….
The secind set of handles are nicer anyway.
you can tell its a new shop because of how little clutter shows on cameras. LOL fun video.
You should have seen it before the cleanup, it was bad. I've been in setup mode for three years in this space. It is finally coming together.
love the draw knife it would be awsome for my ax handles i make
This style does well with axe handles.
I would love one of those from you. I wish I had the skills to make one. I have some Osage orange which I think would make awesome looking handles.
Now it has been awhile since I've seen you pop up. How you been?
@@TheTradesmanChannel hey I have been quietly watching. I watch on my tv so commenting is only done if I feel like picking up my phone and finding the same video and commenting lol. I have been great. Our baby is almost 5 months old and I’m building a sawmill shed right now as well as slaying some coyotes. So busy as usual! Haha. I have been following along with your work bench and forging stuff trying to steal some ideas for my sawmill shed. I suck at organizing so you might not be a good one to steal from 😂
Are you still harvesting timber from the golf course and how's the home renovations going?
Awesome.
Are you going to make any chisels?
I will be. I figure to get my draw knives down to a science and then start playing with chisels.
Jim, what happened to all the logs you harvested at the Catskill camp? Already sawn on the mill, what no videos. Have a great week
The logs I harvested ended up getting milled out when I was there. I've been using a lot of the lumber. I'll be back up there in the spring to cut more.
Jim also bench is starting to look full be careful
I actually clean it every night
The draw knife looks great. When are you going to start the new timber frame addition or did I miss the vidoes?
The project is on the back burner until the price of building materials become sane again.
Completely understand, love your videos keep em coming
Have you got your lathe put together? The shop looks good.
Hello T. I need to finish the lathe, it's 85% there.
@@TheTradesmanChannel That's a beautiful thing sir.
