These boys have aged like a fine fine wine.
Those guys are legends. Good to know they're still in the game.
Outstanding new track! I love-and I mean LOVE-Carl Marsh's morose, existentialist lyric and Mariana-deep delivery. Then there's that gorgeous, Tupelo-esque rhythm section, spearheaded by one of the truly original and simply outstanding percussionists, Mr. Martyn Barker, and, just when you thought it couldn't get any more Shriek-fucking-tastic, in comes Barry Andrews with the counterpoint. Fuck me, but you chaps are my heroes. Please, please, please keep it up, because there are precious few bands these days that still inspire.
I have the 3-point criteria here: respect, trust, fidelity. They've won all three. Saw them on their "Big Night Music," and I knew they were Meschen.
Tupelo? Do they really resemble the music of Tupelo? Interesting!
I like the whole crazy preacher thing Carl has going these days.
Bill Cassel
They should play Glory Bumps live, with Carl singing it. Not that there was anything even slightly wrong with the way Barry sang it, but, as you say, crazy preacher thing.
Thankyou Shriekback for making me remember why I fell in love with you way back all the to My Spine ...
Always outstending 👍👍.After 35 yrs, same fantastic Style.
these guys are unique and special. so good. didn´t know they still are active.
They Are! A new one just out! shriekback.com/store
This whole album is freakin' great. I'm delighted...
This is nothing short of BRILLIANT - Shriekback doing what they have for an eternity - always mixing things up but STILL producing QUALITY music. I thought I missed the 1980s, but they have proved me wrong!
New fan in 2020 ♡ Just found this band and I'm glad I did
This is officially brilliant.
Wow - someone just sent me this link
Very cool and unique
This dude never stops being amazing!
Tropical storm Debbie brought me to this… ☔️
I had no idea that they were still together...they are lyrical genius
By far the album I'm most looking forward to in 2018.
Man in the Radiator
For me, there are two I'm looking forward to just as much as this one - the Cargo soundtrack by Thorsten Quaeschning of Tangerine Dream, and Silhouettes by Klaus Schulze. And they're all coming out next month. So if I get run over by a truck and die in the next five weeks, I will be PISSED OFF!
i'm sorry
SQWEEEEEEEL!!!!!! I didnt know they made a new album!!!! super sqweeeel
Very exciting song!!! Just clicked through and ordered this album, plus the previous one. Thrilled to add new Shriekback to my collection, which goes all the way back. :)
Neither Why Anything? Why This? Nor Without Real String or Fish offers much to dissapoint. Both are very solid, excellent albums, full of creativity and sonic bliss.
Fucking Awesome!
Love this. Have been a fan since "Jam Science". Nice to hear the fish-related finally get to the swamp.
KING SWAMP!!!
Thanks for the eargasms and glory bumps over the years. Much love and respect
Nice one guys!..... Good to hear the shriek vibe is still a lexicon of lyrical largesse ! Really looking forward to new album!
Fantastic.
I wish Texas was really as interesting as English people seem to think it is.
they don't
I highly recommend that you or anyone live in or near Austin Texas at least one year of your life! You'll be like me and regret not making the move in your younger years! Texas IS Heaven on Earth! In my opinion it's so much Heaven that i fear of dying and experiencing the bullshit bible version of what Heaven is supposed to be.
Imaginary Texas... Fruit ot movies.
I love Texas. So much space (in certain places). Austin is considered to be akin to a hipster Hollywood emigration to Texas. And not true Texas (not what I think, but what Texas folks think). My favorite areas of Texas: Houston, Montgomery, San Antonio and Virgil.
I can say as a Texan who has been to Japan, that the Japanese probably like Texas way more than the English. 🤠
Wonderful....powerful and driving...fan since 80s....👍👍
REIGN is on the way, prepare to reap what you have sown
The Shrieks have been kicking ass for the entirety of the 21st century... Seriously, the 90s were a fucking wasteland for them, but from Cormorant on, it's been solid gold.
So damn good
We love you Shreikback
Thank you so much for posting this! I had no idea they had done anything so recent, and it's f'n great!!
They've got a new one out as well! shriekback.com/store
I love this! I love all of the elements involved in music about it along with the lyrics!
Damn adore Shriekback since I remember myself ❤️❤️❤️
This song is like a western set to music.
Yeah the drums in this one, gorgeous!
Ah, yes! More Shriekery! Surely ‘Why Anything, Why This’ is not far from making an appearance. Perhaps not as young and pretty as they once were in their youth, but Shriekback have an unfailing, unforgivable and unforgettable sound that simply will not be silenced, and cannot be avoided. I eagarly await what is to come, and appreciate what is already with us.
I don't think Shriek was ever pretty?
I'd more call them striking.
Yes, I suppose that would certainly describe them more accurately. But then again, one might argue their current asthetic is quite striking too.
Oh yes.
The Shrieks are still shrieking, thank whatever gods there might be!, and they've gotten more interesting in their musical abilities than ever. It's a sort of dark jazz bordering on disco with a strong Gothic undertone that, like their faces, now shows the sadness life has dealt them since last they toured. It is the sort of audio Darkness that looks back into the soul, and evokes forms of no immediate description, but holding the whole potential of another world within our own, that lives by its own rules, separate from our own. Sharks and people living in the same world? Interesting concept! Righteous groove, too! Love it!
Words may threaten to break us, but, the harmony shall heal us.
Love the rain... 💙☔🌦🌧🌨🌩✨🌟🌜🌞
Oh wow! this is the Best Shriekback Video they have ever made! They sound in season in a big way!
good to see them back. good cut.
Love this
Shriekback need to tour...it's been too long!
BRILLIANT TRACK!
Well done, Shriekback.
Wow, still got it!
Dig this!
💙
Wow...............Amazing...........
This a badass song!!!
The Key to Living the Good Life. These Blokes have it and know it . . . and I'm gonna catch me a taste of that magic . . .
Yay! New Shriek music!
As in the days of old. Brilliant.
Love this track. And the vid.
Absolutely wonderful. Hoping to hear it live...
gran bel ritorno !
I can only assume the 3 dislikes were pressed by accident....
One was. It's now down to two.
very good song 🎸🎵
Been listening since a friend had them on cassette tape in 1988. No other sound like them.
Happy birthday, Carl!
Mr Waits, are you lost?
DIG IT
Nice music guys!
EPIC
I think they wrote this after visiting Dave in Portland.
return in great
This is just begging to be a theme song. (Maybe for the next season of True Detective?)
KOOL!
Amazing that this song already needs a lyric update to take into account the pandemic. Shriekback, hook us up???
love this....spacey, creepy
NICE ONE ! :)
What happened to Barry singing lead? Some of my favorite moments in life is hearing him sing while doing dervish swirls.
Barry still sings plenty. Check out all the newest albums. they're available at the Shriekback website.
@@hodah Yeah, sorry. I do have most everything, but I was randomly hopping around, and I got many brilliant songs that Carl sings, but I couldn't seem to land on a Barry song. That's what triggered my original comment -- I thought maybe some behing-the-scene stuff was happening....
You are and remain on the top shelf of my most favorite bands.
Why hasn't TOM WAITS put an album with them yet ?
Carl Sanders!
Kinda like the "Talking Heads" of the primordial.....
Are there any new bands out there keeping the Kabbalah alive in rock? All my favorite bands are getting rather, mature.
Please do a track called 'barry loves beetroot'
Good plan.
BONZER!
I've liked Shriekback since the early 90's but I confess about 80% of their stuff seems cacophonous and unpleasant to my ears. But the other 20% are some of my very favorite music, such as this song.
Hey Bo Diddley!
Oh look. Oh listen! Real creativity! Look, and take note. Learn children, before the curtain drops. This how it was done.
And the rain keeps falling. Since they released this, the rain has only gotten worse. Oil and Gold is as hot a topic as ever. Too bad Corporate DJ's have no say on what is played anymore. It's tough for teens to discover a great band like Shriekback.
How I wish those old hands would hit some new melodic keys. . .. but...PS this is not Hand on my Heart is it?
You know, if you guys ever decide to go into the religion business, we're all screwed.
I kind of lost touch with Shriekback, but this song is really cool
Welcome back! There's plenty of 'new' Shriekback music to listen to, in fact they're in the studio now recording their 16th album! Go to www.shriekback.com/store to purchase all their stuff

Thanks! Please feel free to share the video as well on your blog.
New Shriekback song from the Indiegogo campaign for their upcoming album - ua-cam.com/video/x10LcPp1Sp8/v-deo.html
Disappointing. It just sounds like a Bad Seeds knock-off. Shriekback are way better than this.
You just sit there and be at one with your wrongness.
This point is not without merit, frankly.
Underrated band.
The Nemesis of Adrenachrome surfaces as a dance song. Order some off the wall like Clockwork
The vaticant full of PEDOS BOIL them sezchuan
Still excellent shrieks... a classic return to sound.
Loved them since that last world we lived in , the 90s I think.
Just listening again, magnificent.
