Actually I agree with the previous comment - I also interested to see in what you end up... I been long standing used of LR - but in recent time I decided to ditch Adobe. So I am switched to DxO (it is much superior to my Fuji RAW images in comparison to LR) and since I am building now PC (switching from Apple MacBook Pro) - I plan to use FastStone image manager. So in the end I will plan to end up with FastStone (image ingestion + browsing) + DxO PhotoLab for RAW processing and some kind of cataloging (via projects).
I used Aperture until a few weeks ago, but after updating it doesn't work anymore. After testing a few alternatives, also Photos, I now learn darktable, and its development, editing and masking tools are even better than Aperture. Speed in some tool is slower and the user interface in some places is not Apple-like, but the tools are top notch and I managed to get better pictures out of it after only 2 hours, so I really like it and it gives the control I want from an image editor. Looking forward to your review of darktable!
Lots of people looking for LR alternatives, it's a tough one to beat though interested to see what your other alternatives will be. I've used Darktable and some features are really nice but it's very much an extra tool for me, especially good for handling hot pixels. But I'd struggle to use it as my main editor.
Affinity Photo maybe worth a test? I got the V1 and since I'll restart my amateur hobbyist photographer career, I'm in the market for a non Adobe , non subscription good app
CMD-K will get you to the keyword manager The editing is good for basics. It is crazy fast. You can edit in other applications when you need more power. It makes it easy to share with family friends and other devices. AI searching is pretty decent, like if you want to search for bridges but haven’t assigned that as a keyword. I wish it supported Nikon compressed RAW
Hi Eli , great Video, quick question I have an Olympus omd em5 mii and a em1 miii for some reason with my em1 not importing photos on iPhoto where my em5 is fine , have you any ideas. Regards Andy
Question for Eli and anyone else who might know, can presets only be used in LR? I don’t do too much editing with my photos and when I do it’s very simple and currently I use the Microsoft editor that pops up when you open your SD card and I am usually pretty happy with that, but I see all these photographers on UA-cam using presets and selling them etc. I would love to try them out but I don’t use LR, I don’t really want to pay that much per month because I don’t work with/on the photos consistently. Does anyone have any advice on how I can use presets? Also, I do have the LR app on my phone but it’s free, so guess I wouldn’t be able to use presets on it, right? Thanks for your help!
I used Snapseed years ago and continued now I've got a camera. Completely new to it all but it's all pretty simple to use. Would be keen to try something new on android
Never understood why Apple killed Aperture, I would really like to see them bring it back, especially now with all the deserved hatred towards Lightroom
Yes, good advice. I use Photomator for advanced edits where I need masking, mainly landscape photos. For street, I think Apple Photos alone is fine, since I just tend to make global adjustments. I also use DXO Optics Pro for lens corrections, DXO Smart Lighting and Clearview (dehaze) which has lenses released up to 2015, so all my EF lenses are included. It's only £9.99 on the App Store...
How refreshing to find a reviewer who gets straight to the point with good information. Thank you.

Love that idea. I'm looking forward to your impressions on Darktable, and maybe OM Workspace if you have time for it?

I like Snapseed for the cool effects you can add to final jpegs

You've fot a great voice -- that looped chimey noise in the background just takes away from it.
Apple will never release a new Aperture or any image editing. The perfect companions for Apple Photos are Pixelmator Pro and Photomator.
