this was beyond the most helpful video for our elopement this September. turns out we will have the same officiant! thank y'all for posting this, and your special day looks stunningly gorgeous!
Thank you so much! It was such a special day. I’m glad we could be helpful - it certainly is a complicated roadmap. And congratulations on your upcoming elopement! That is so exciting. September will be such a lovely time. You’ll be in very good hands as well. Where will y’all be doing your ceremony?
@@AwayWithTheMays Aw thanks!! We asked Haukur to choose the place, and he chose Þurofoss, which is PERFECT. We looked it up after that and learned it's also a Game of Thrones filming location. Extra bonus for us since we're complete GOT nerds. lol!
Asthildur at (asthildurbridal dot com) did my hair and makeup! I ordered the flower crown from a Reykjavik area florist, Reykavikur Blom (Blum dot IS) and picked it up the day before. I started by sending an inquiry through her website and we continued via email from there. She came to the airbnb, which I was great! I would definitely recommend her. I _did_ end up blotting away some makeup after the ceremony for the photos, because I am someone who prefers very minimal coverage, and I did not do an excellent job communicating that when I said I wanted a natural look. That's on me! She did send me off with a small touch up kit, including a tiny pallet of lip color she mixed for me. :)
Hi - fab video, really informative! I was wondering how you managed to get in contact with the asatru gothi? We’re trying to organise our elopement and have emailed Ásatrúarfélagið but haven’t heard anything. Any tips/advice?? Thanks
Hey, thank you so much! I emailed a couple of the goðar individually to ask about them performing our ceremony. You can find a list of all of them and their email addresses here: asatru.is/godar/ The website is completely in Icelandic so Google Translate is your friend here. To the best of my knowledge, the ones that are ordained to perform marriages are able to do so everywhere in the country, but it would be best to choose one that lives close to where you want to have your ceremony since they will charge travel fees. We used Haukur Bragason because he was the closest to our destination, but he ended up being the coolest guy! He was very responsive to my emails and was incredibly helpful with navigating the paperwork and all the legal hoops we needed to jump through. He was also super nice and very easy to get along with, and his personality made our big day that much better.
Hey there! So sorry I didn’t see this sooner. I found it on a blog of ring road destinations. It was a minor blip of the wider section about Skogafoss. We loved that it looked like a road less traveled, and that was definitely the case. It is more common to visit it now, but you won’t see throngs of tourists there.

Your crown is so beautiful 🥹🥹🥹🥹🥹
Thank you! Reykjavíkurblóm made it! We were able to press a couple of flowers in a book as a keepsake.
This was extremely helpful! Thank you so much.
Congratulations 🎊 🎉
I’m so glad it helped! And thank you!! If you have any other questions that we might be able to answer, please don’t hesitate to reach out ❤️❤️

Which waterfall was this?
Kvernufoss! It is a short hike from Skogafoss.
Hiya. How did you find that waterfall? Did your celebrant recommend it?
