Ok I'm a big fan of tom morello and never heard this band before anywayright before I looked at the comments I said to myself holyfuck everyone looks like tom hanks . Thank you
In an alternate universe, this band became the most popular band ever, and Zack Dela Rocha become a popular icon in the punk community with “inside out”
It's awesome to get to hear Tom playing those killer guitar solos. I always wished he'd incorporate a little more of that in Rage against the Machine or Audioslave. He's an incredible guitar player.
Always wondered why this genre and time always had bright colors everywhere? Faith No More, Living Color, Fishbone, Red Hot Chilli Peppers and of course this band all brightly colored.
Bojack Horseman could be driving around listening to this: 🎵Generic 90s funk metal, graffiti, berets, and bandanas, this is a song from the 90s, the decade which it currently is🎶
@Jx Jx I hope you do/did, because it is one of the best animated shows of all time. Would’ve been a hell of an Easter egg if Bojack was a fan of these guys at his peak - 🙃
I can see why a lot of folks seem put off by this one, but if you ever find this CD in the dollar bin, (the only place I've ever found it,) buy every copy. I mean, I can't find it digitally anywhere either. It's a badass album, and yes, Tom Morello's guitar work really shines. The rest of it is great musically, too. It's a shame about all the bouncy glittery shit, because this was not only a good album, but a great one. This is the first time I ever saw the music video . . . Unfortunate. I'm surprised it's so stupid. I never saw them live, but the friends who did were amazed. I still have the album, and without exaggeration, 30 years later it's still played regularly. (PS - Buy every copy of Uncle Slam's 'Will Work for Food' if you see that in the dollar bin, as well.) You will not be sorry.
I agree - I’ve been listening to this record since around the time Napster came out, when I managed to find it online after hearing Tom mention it in a random interview...around the same time I was picking up guitar and then RATM broke up for the first time! This record is great musically, vocals/lyrics are a bit weak but I came for the guitar, and stayed for the nostalgia. I can’t find any other live appearance save for a TV show which is a shame, I’m assuming they put on an awesome show.
Reading Know Your Enemy Rage Against the Machine by Joel McIver and the First Chapter took me here lol I’m digging this. I find the history of an artist very interesting. I can see that Tom Morello has evolved so much. Great song dudes! I’ll add this to my Spotify list.
This is such a weird mix of genres- like someone playing Faith No More or RATM over top of the Spin Doctors. You can hear the college rock "tweedle-dee" guitar but then there's Morello rocking over top of it!
This almost looks like a parody video of what the Chili Peppers, Living Colour, and Faith No More were doing around the same time (lol). Glad Morello finally found his footing a year later when he started RATM with Zach De La Rocha. Difference is like night and day... :-D
The worst thing about this song is the boring drummer and that god awful singer. The bassist is a fairly good player. Got a nice sound and he pairs nice with tom. And to tom. Morello is a fantastic fucking guitar player. Some of of his solos in lock up are almost virtuous. I wonder where his playing woulda went if he woulda went away form the alien sounding solos and kept them more classical with melodic bluesy harmonies and those chromatic shreds. And that funk line he plays clean is fucking sweet you can't deny that.
Tyler Jacobson The “God Awful” singer, as you refer to him is Brian Grillo, who later formed Extra Fancy, whom would make one of the best rock songs of the 90’s: “Sinnerman”.
Many alt-metal/alt-rock musicians (especially from California) who later played different style made some funk rock or funk metal in the late 1980s: Eddie Vedder, several Korn members (then as LAPD), or Stone Temple Pilots for instance. There was this funk metal trend which came in the late eigthies and declined in the early 1990s.
Only just discovered this after reading Morellos wiki page, how very, very, very disappointing, that is embarrassingly bad, how did he go from this to Rage in such a short time?
Lock Up's new hit single "Nothing New"
featuring:
Tom Hanks - bass
Tom Hanks - drums
Tom Hanks - vocals
Tom morello - guitar
+shakhens I legit LOLed.
4 non toms
😂😂😂
I laughed at this for 3 minutes, thanks stranger
Ok I'm a big fan of tom morello and never heard this band before anywayright before I looked at the comments I said to myself holyfuck everyone looks like tom hanks . Thank you
Such a dope line up. Billy Paxton on Vocals, Bill Murray on Drums, Tom Hanks on Bass and Tom Morello from Rage
Ha. Underrated comment. Spot on
Yes, if comments were up for awards this one wins.
I was thinking Dan Aykroyd on drums and Chad Smiths brother on vocals 😂
@@eldiablo3794 That would be Will Ferrell 😂
Tom Morello sent me. Cute outfit bro!
Me too!!! Loving the bedazzled jeans...😂😂😂😂
In an alternate universe, this band became the most popular band ever, and Zack Dela Rocha become a popular icon in the punk community with “inside out”
This is like if early RHCP, Faith No More, Living Colour and Spin Doctors had a baby.
Well.... you got the "Spin Doctors" part right...
With a twist of Extreme.
They sound also very similar to the East Coast funk metal band Heads Up from the same era.
U forgot only worse!
A crack baby
Tom morello was already doing all his tricks with guitar! Incredible guitar player
Its a long way from "I just wanna rock, and do what I want to do" to "some of those that hold office, are the same that burn crosses"....
Jesus Tom. I don’t think you could have two more different lead singers from this guy and Zack
Brian Grillo was such a great dynamic singer in Lock Up. Saw them many times at Club Lingerie Hollywood in the 80's.
It's awesome to get to hear Tom playing those killer guitar solos. I always wished he'd incorporate a little more of that in Rage against the Machine or Audioslave. He's an incredible guitar player.
Alot of RATM demos having shreddy guitar solo.
everybody looks so damn happy!
I saw them open for TSOL. Great show. They definitely Rocked
My band had the opening slot for that bill in Endfield, Connecticut. They shut the place down the afternoon of the show. Years later I was bummed...
Always wondered why this genre and time always had bright colors everywhere? Faith No More, Living Color, Fishbone, Red Hot Chilli Peppers and of course this band all brightly colored.
Cuz it’s hip and crazy yo
drugs.
@@poindextertunes I don't think Morello was using drugs

That funky rock groove!

Do you genuinely think this is a good song?
I found It for a Dollar in a swap meet here in Tijuana México

Forrest gump on bass and Peter venkman from ghostbusters on drums! what a band
and there was Brian; swinging from the low sprinkler pipes above the stage at the Coconut Teaser= epic
Awesome band
to everybody out there who underrating Tom Morello's guitar skills because he is not shredding enough, maybe you should watch this..
So......TM originally was a Living Colour member, and wasnt angry about the Machine at all lol😂👏👏👍👍👍👍
01:25 that face wins
They tore it up back in The days
Sunshine theatre
This band fucking rocks.
Morello before 27 years.. incredible

Actually this song is good
I like it

Yo I love Tom morello's solo at 1:25
Eddie Money's career in the late 80's took an interesting turn.
Now go and listen to Inside Out (Zack de la Rocha's band before RATM)
Thank u for this, seriously.
this makes me feel funny
Young Tom Hanks on bass. old Tom Hanks on Drums.....
It's like a Bad Red Hot Chili Peppers with a Bill Murray on Drums and Tom Hanks on Bass
And a Junkie Kurt Russel on vocals
And a Junkie Kurt Russel on vocals
Spot on hahaha!
Nerd Box thwy give me a rhcp and poison type feel, the chili peppers funky and crazy side and poison crazy camera and dancing style
ya do not understand a fuck
these guys were good live
Tom Hanks on drums !
I was literally about to comment the same thing xD even bill Murray on drums hah xD
You know this is old when Tom’s guitar didn’t had his “Arm the Homeless” text on it
Before he had "Arm the Homeless" on that guitar!
The singer's voice resembles so much as Trent Reznor!
That's Forrest Gump playing bass
kevin Wood playing bass
And singing, and drumming
Same guitar too
I love the sand hat on tom morello
tabs please? anyone, i need this
This almost looks like a parody video of what the Chili Peppers, Living Colour, and Faith No More were doing around the same time (lol). Glad Morello finally found his footing a year later when he started RATM with Zach De La Rocha. Difference is like night and day...
:-D
estaba hecho todo un Daniel Larusso... pero ya la rompía!
Do i laugh or cry?
the chorus remember me Bully Theme
Who’s the Puerto Rican Guitarist?
Definitely an early Red Hot Chili Peppers vibe.
Is that Pauly Shore on Vocals? Lol
1:23 = LOL 1:26 = EPIC LOL
and the bass player too
He still hasn't written arm the homeless on that guitar yet.
I saw them in 1986. i had no idea it was Morello
Man they got Buffalo Bill on the vocals lmao
ToM mOrElLo CaN't PlAy
hey thats a different neck on his blue guitar!!
Gonna tell my kid this was Red Hot Chili Peppers
personally i think tom is better in lock up :D more feeling
Not bad at all!
RHCP 90210
The only thing that would make this song better is if they muted everything but Tom Morello
TOM MORELLO EL MEJOR
Morello looks like the Karate Kid.
+Asushlo With brilliant pants kkk
These comments are Great!
The Extra Fancy rabbit hole I’ve been going down… just got deeper!
Tom morello and the hanks

The drummer is ok and the singer has good voice
Totally right on all points there, Tyler.
damn buddy this is a cool band to listen to sometimes
Damn, I thought Lock Up was a death metal band. TIL Tom Morello was in a band before RATM.
that guitar looks better as arm the homeless.
ho ho ho :) la jolie casserole de tom
Tom Morello looks like Pauly Shore here
"Gasp" Tom Morello had fucking hair!
Jesus, this shit got signed to Geffen??
Brian Grillo is very David Lee Roth
Tom Morello looks exactly like Joe Satriani with hair ..
The singer was theirs weakest link
Hey can everybody stop mentioning the "Arm The Homeless" guitar. We all get it.
F you we won't do what you tell us. l-)
haha why does everyone look like Tom Hanks? are they all brothers ?
Wow. I never knew Tom would into the Red Hot Chili Peppers thing...

Before that guitar had arm the homeless written on it
And the neck is different, look at the color and the form of the head.
Yeah must've put some kind of counting neck on it or something
Its a different guitar
Same body, different neck, pickups, bridge and headstock. So you are about 70 percent right.
The double negative in the lyrics is unforgivable. Academy Award winning actor Tom Hanks should've known better.
Forrest Gump on bass..
Only just discovered this after reading Morellos wiki page, how very, very, very disappointing, that is embarrassingly bad, how did he go from this to Rage in such a short time?
this sounds good tho
@@foxxie1702 super derivative of the music at that time.

Cool. Red Hot Bald Peppers.
I think that more than algorithm, now we have more megas to watch more shites than before
:D :D :D :D :D
This is soooo way better than RATM, I can't understand why music like RATM got more popular than this, what happened?
Girl what.

Arm the homeless before it was arm the homeless
this isnt deathgrind haha

You found the older band also called Lock Up. The newer Lock Up is deathgrind
kind of gay red hot chili peppers. But Tom Morello is a hero
