    Looking to finally retire the now 30 year old speakers in my Volvo 745 wagon but I want to keep costs under control but also have great sound quality while keeping the car in a way so it looks as stock as possible (except for a subwoofer in the back).
    I have 5.25" speakers in my doors and space for tweeters in the dash but no space for tweeters in the back doors without modification.
    I was thinking R152-S component for the front, R1525X2 for the back doors both being from the prime lineup, however I want a subwoofer that can play deep bass down to around 30Hz or lower, which would you recommend, and should I change which speakers I'm buying?
    I want something that can dunk hard for bass heavy music but also various metal genres.

    • @rockfordfosgate
      @rockfordfosgate  3 роки тому

      Hi Felix, sorry for the late reply. Yes, the R152-S component system and R1525X2 are great solutions for your Volvo's doors. According to Crutchfield, they look like they will fit fine. For a subwoofer to play 30 Hz or lower, keep in mind it's more about moving air (vibrating things) than hearing the actual bass notes. A good candidate is a pair of Punch P1 12" subwoofers. With an Fs = 25 Hz, this model works well in both sealed and vented enclosures. For a lower frequency response, you'll need an enclosure on the larger size compared to what is listed in the owner's manual (1.02 cu. ft.). You can always contact our Rockford Fosgate technical support for help with your box design at 1-800-669-9899 or via Live Chat at www.rockfordfosgate.com/support.

    So deos Punch sound better than the power or is the power better in both sq and spl than the punch?

    • @rockfordfosgate
      @rockfordfosgate  7 років тому +3

      Overall, there are incremental step-ups between the Prime (Good), Punch (Better), and Power (Best) technology, which can result in better SQ. Regarding subwoofers and speakers, it can result in higher SPL due to the increased power that can be applied.

      Are you referring to the American Audio VLP-1500 Guitar Amplifier? If so, since it's rated to produce 750W RMS Per Channel @ 4 Ohms at 1kHz, 0.1% THD, we would recommend these subwoofer systems:

      wire voice coils in series

      Great questions Skillz, since the P3D2-12 is rated to handle up to 600W and can be wired to a 1-ohm load, we would suggest the Punch P500X1bd. It's rated at 500W at 1-ohm and has plenty of headroom for dynamic bass response. You can find more info here: rockfordfosgate.com/products/details/p500x1bd/

    • @rockfordfosgate
      @rockfordfosgate  2 роки тому

      HI Mikeal, Sounds like you're having problems with gear "going out" on you. While speakers actually can blow due to excessive power (burning the voice coils), amplifiers don't typically go out like that. If you're continually having issues with the dealer, may we suggest finding a different Rockford Fosgate dealer to help you out. You probably know the ones nearby, but you can also use our dealer locator at www.rockfordfosgate.com/dealerlocator.

    Rule n°1) When a dealer asks you what kind of music you listen to: run away !

    • @rockfordfosgate
      @rockfordfosgate  4 роки тому

      While it may seem strange to ask what type of music a fanatic listens to, it actually helps an installer determine what components will get the job done. It's not uncommon for one customer to walk in and say they just need to replace their factory speakers, yet the next customer wants a hard-hitting system that he can play in the parking lot with the doors open for car shows. In other words, not everyone requires a T2500-1bdCP with four T2 16" subwoofers where the back seat used to be. They might just need a modest 300 watt, 4-channel amplifier powerful enough for a single 10" sub in the trunk.

      Hi Ryan, as you'll see in the description, these were released with Authorized Rockford Fosgate dealers in mind, so they are slanted toward real-world customer questions about the differences between Power, Punch, and Prime models. We felt that they were of value to fanatics alike, so we decided to release them to the general public. That being said, there are just too many variables to cover the differences between the Power, Punch & Prime series in a couple of blanket statements, so they are generalized. We have detailed videos describing the models independently such as differences between Power, Punch & Prime Amplifiers, differences between Power, Punch & Prime Speakers, etc.

      @rockfordfosgate  4 місяці тому

      Could you explain what is misleading about this internal training video? Authorized Rockford Fosgate dealers are there to help customers find the right product for their budget and goals. As mentioned in the video, there is Prime, Punch, Power for different budgets and goals, for the same reason the same companies that produce Scion -> Toyota -> Lexus or Honda -> Acura, or GMC -> Chevrolet -> Cadillac, and VW -> Audi. When you first started learning how to drive, dad probably didn't hand you keys to the Porsche. This is the same reason someone starting in car audio isn't likely to go straight into Power Series subwoofers and amplifiers, but rather start with a nice Prime amp + sub, figure out what else they want more of, then later down the road upgrade to a Punch series amplifier and subwoofer(s).
