I'm sad to see the sweet baseball caps you used to sell are no longer available. I have both the black one with the leather badge and the orange/gray one, and I love them both. But they are both showing their age and are in need of replacement! I thought giveaway time was the perfect time to re-up on them, but alas, they are no more. 😢
I got to check out this exact paramotor in person. I have no experience flying this engine but I sure do like the idea of a 4 stroke paramotor engine. And I can tell you it is a very good looking engine. It looks very well made and is aesthetically pleasing as well. I also like the Fly Products frame. I think whoever gets this paramotor is going to be very happy with it. Thanks for letting us check it out Tucker. 🙂
I agree that not having the ability to operate the choke with the paramotor on your back is somewhat of an inconvenience. A modification with a choke cable running alongside the throttle cable is probably the most viable solution, and safer, because you know most pilots will simply resort to starting it on the ground. That was pretty funny. The spectator wanted a picture of the motor, not you Tucker. He didn't know you're an infamous UA-camr.
It’s not a problem. You start the motor on the rack or table or ground and let it warmup for 2-3 minutes at idle, with a prop strap, while you setup your glider. That’s when you would apply and release the choke. You then start the motor without the prop strap, on your back when you’re ready to walk out to the glider. It’s warm and will now start easily and won’t cause you to put it on and take it off 5 times trying to get it started when it’s cold. The odds of a full throttle start are also very low because you have just verified it’s in prop operating condition.
Awesome, I've been hoping to see more reviews on this engine since seeing it awhile ago on another channel. Vitto's EFI was intriguing but a good 4 stroke alternative is what a lot of us were really hoping for.
I saw and heard this engine last year at Salton. I am hopeful it will have the reliability necessary for me. So we now have the power of an Aero1000 with the weight of the Bailey. And hopefully, the reliability of a Moster.
Can you turn the choke off while it's on your back? Looks good, but it would be a pain to have to warm it up on choke then take it off to turn the choke off?
Honestly? My best guess is that they're some super-secret "Black project" the US military is working on, and they're just doing some stateside testing before they're sent into combat, and that the CIA isn't lying about not knowing what's going, but that the military genuinely hasn't told them anything, because they don't need to know, and the fewer people who do know, the better. This wouldn't even be the first time something like this has happened. It happened with the B-2 Spirit, it happened with the F-117 Nighthawk, it happened with the B-1 Lancer, it happened with the SR-71 Blackbird, but the CIA might have been in on that last one, I'm not sure. But that's just my best guess, I could be totally wrong, but the fact that people from the White House have said that they're not a threat is certainly something to keep in mind.
I would love to take to the skies and have grand Adventures the way you do, But unfortunately this is something I'll never be able to afford, Fortunately I can watch your adventures on UA-cam
Looks like a very clean design implementation. Hopefully that translates out into dependability, and is not just skin deep. I usually find that to be the case, that care in one aspect of design and construction carries through to the other, but it is not a requirement/guarantee. I'm talking about aspects like using a more complex and expensive old school automotive or standard old school motorcycle slide carb, rather than a simpler, less costly butterfly arrangement, those clean castings, nice accessible layouts, taking the care to put oil level viewing ports, etc. Great job on the overview, concise and reasonably complete, perfect for the intent. Shout out to the engine designer(s), especially if the dependability pans out. Nicely done. Love it when engineers CARE about their output. Any more, that is not remotely a given. I'll bet that exhaust note will be a lot more pleasant in the air, than a screaming two stroke. Nice 'Bewitched' type editing on the walking shirt changes, better than theirs, actually. I don't know if it was intentional, but the look on your face after the guy ignored what you said completely, and wanted you to model the thing for pics, was priceless. One thing I saw that would be nice would be a choke actuator on the hand control, maybe with a flip up cover or recess to prevent accidental activation. It would be nice to be able to go through that sequence while on your back, one hoist only, if that is not the case. Maybe you were just verifying for first flight, also a great idea until you gain trust.
I would imagine the torque is very spread out all the way around the rpm range, better fuel mileage, more reliable, maybe a little heavier than a 2 stroke
This will be test run at the factory and then drained, there will be plenty of residual oil left in galleries etc. I assume it has a tiny oil pump if it has a filter. Would be good to get a look inside!
God I wish I could enter to win! I wish I could just fly a paramotor, period! Unfortunately that won't happen in this life, but hopefully I'll enjoy the freedom of open air flying in the next life! Good luck to all those entering and happy flying!
It's a game changer unless you only have a car, and not a van, truck, or really big SUV, and you need to remove the cage and prop, and lay the thing on its back across the rear seats to transport it to and from the LZ, because if you try to do that with a 4-stroke engine, the oil might get places it shouldn't, like the inside of the cylinder, or past an open/leaky valve and into the exhaust or carburetor, none of which are good. So, whenever I get my first paramotor, it'll be a 2-stroke, not a 4-stroke. Like, I get that I'm probably in the minority here, and that this'll be great for most people, but it's just not a good fit for me personally. That being said, this is still really cool, and I can definitely see this being very popular in the future
Those motor mounts are polyurethane motor mounts and I would imagine the reason they don't use those on the 2 cycle motors is because the 2 cycle vibration is worse than a 4 cycle and polyurethane is more ridgid then a rubber motor mount as far as getting 2 cycle engines to be more dependable ive found that if I add sta-bal fuel treatment to my mixed fuel it makes a huge difference with any issues I have with my 2 cycle or 4 cycle engines

Didn't need to fill up all day with the 4 strokes, as often. So, Tucker will that 4 stroke para motor last longer on 1 tank. Then the 2 strokes engines your used too.? Thanks Roger.
OH Tucker good job that you work out because it looked seriously heavy like my Bailey 4 stroke about 9 years ago, I sold that to "Paranoob" great videos on his channel

Great looking Motor and Frame. Sounds Awesome! Is there a way to remotely operate the Choke? A choke cable to the frame or even a servo on a switch to operate on and off. We are in cold weather season here in the North East and I can imagine you will need Choke to start in the cold, and taking off gear and gloves etc. in full winter gear would be chore.

Love the technical advancements that have come to this sport. So much has changed since I first flew back in 1999!

Nope. I’m sure there is a way to add a cable to have control of it while the motor is on your back. The polini is the same way.
Please go back to NJ and chase around the "Mystery" drones. Just kidding. Any thoughts on how to intercept and photograph that situation?

hmm, will there be options to control the choke when sitting in the harness?
I know Polini has this option, I am not sure if EOS will do the same.
the carb has an accelerator pump inside, just pull throttle 1 or 2 times when engine is cold - it will run.

When adding oil to a dry engine, you want to turn it over and get oil through all the passages, then refill.
