22:55 I've never seen this in volleyball ever. The backrow attacker fakes a front-row hit and makes the middle bite........ I love seeing new techniques in volley
@@tarek42023 look at number 20. This player is currently a backrow player, but after receiving they immediatley go for a front row attack (which they can as long as they dont play the ball) and the ucla middle reacts to it
@@chillingHamsterokay but i still don’t understand what’s not normal with that hit? Atleast for my vb team in germany it’s very common for the front-row outside to come back for serve receive. I don’t see anything special about him spiking? Or am I missing the point?
It’s not just his vert. He hits with his arm almost completely vertical, which is unconventional but also gives him an even greater contact point. Both of them, actually. Clearly it’s effective.
Subbing Akhil Tangutur (UCI #2) for Nolan Flexen (UCI #9) was a goated sub. Flexen's service pass was not good enough during the first two sets and Tangutur's defense definitely carried them through key moments in set 3-5
looked like game plan was to get Flexen to serve receive so they stay out of system. I would say the serving and the setters was the biggest difference for me.
UCLA Looks like a very complete team. They are going to be a powerhouse all year. UCI does deserve some credit however because they are able to compete with almost an entirely different roster than last year.
@@whore4jelly4 like I said, I should have kept watching before commenting. But in general, they have been experimenting with the lineup no? I know knight was injured for a while too.
when they swicthed 9 for 2 while the ground defense was definitely strong the block became weaker it seemed to work for 3&4 sets but the 5th wasn't the same still amazing game to watch and damn 17(UCI) was popping off
I think it was supposed to be for that one sequence just to stop Hilir (20) but the ball that came over was out of system so Cooper was forced to make the set anyways and his only option was Rowan.
I know UCLA defeated Hawaii last year in the final but they seem to be getting upset again and again this season even with the talents of Merrick McHenry, Andrew Rowan, and Ethan Champlin. Ido David had a great performance in the finals... but he seems to be less efficient this year no? Maybe too soon to judge but I wouldn't be surprised if Hawaii manages to stay in the top 4 with their new young core if UCLA doesn't get situated.... UCI is a great team for sure this year I see some semifinal appearances for a while not gonna lie. But I'm looking forward to seeing the two youngest setters of the top teams in the NCAA go at it. Tread Rosenthal has been doing great things and I think Hawaii will only get better. It's definitely gonna be a battle of the powerhouses OSU, UCLA, USC, UCI, and Hawaii no doubt. Coming from a 'bows fan ofc. Mahalo Jonny for these angles of the games!!
“13 serving 22…Holy Crap” 😂😂😂 funny for no reason
Who's saying that and why
@@ofirsufaro204 he said holy crap because of the missed serve i think
really appreciate you saying the score right before the serve
I'm down to help moomoo w the score tho type shhhhi
setter of ucla is unbelievable

If only the setter called the mid close
The future of volleyball has begun...that was sick
Sorry can you help me understand what you mean? for me that was a pretty normal outside attack...

nr 9's vert is actually insane. He hits antenne height
11 on ucla crazy too that back row hit 11:15 sheesh
It’s not just his vert. He hits with his arm almost completely vertical, which is unconventional but also gives him an even greater contact point.
Both of them, actually. Clearly it’s effective.
I don't think anyone gets up like UCLA 13. Go frame by frame at 18:24, even his opposite shoulder is above the net.
You're not wrong, but I think everyone is used to Merrick being a freak of nature by this point haha.@@travisshrey6720
He's 6'9, it's not just vertical

just feel like Flexen wasn't playing like how he usually does
akhil=🐐

I mean they won the championship last year
yea looks like the serving and serve receive from UCLA will potentially give them another ship.
13 on UCLA gets so freaking high. it was surreal to see in person
rowan is actually goated already
UCI setter gotta feed #2 more... hes a good scorer
Number 2 sub in for UCI was an ANIMAL on defense
Bro did not wanna set Akhil
fr, ahkils good he just gotta be used right
finally got a set at 23:02 and hammers it
I think it is because bro is short so he is more likely to get stuffed by a block. Ucla don't seem to care with 20 tho, ethan is crazy
Jesus. #11 on UCLA is a beast!
best camera angle I’ve seen on this channel by far. I would want to see more videos at net height
Ngl uci’s #2 came in clutch
Rowans just so damn smooth
other ucla setter looks great aswell
0:30 Flexen is literally level with the ref...
12:30 If they don’t call this a lift on Cooper, then it’s 20-17 UCLA and probably over in 3 sets. Seemed like a legal 2-handed joust to me.
This angle is so much better.
Damn if this version of uci got smoked this hard ucla must really be untouchable
I should have finished the video before commenting
@@Downypouri just deleted a whole paragraph😂
UCLA has already been beaten twice this year, they’re not untouchable.

UCLA is looking great this year, ready for another title 🔥
Akhil is too nice
The guttural noise I made at 0:31
9:25 the kick was just funny

still amazing game to watch
and damn 17(UCI) was popping off
23:49 Why was Rowan hitting left side and Cooper setting for the entire point? To put a bigger block on UCI #20? It did not work.
I think it was supposed to be for that one sequence just to stop Hilir (20) but the ball that came over was out of system so Cooper was forced to make the set anyways and his only option was Rowan.
UCLAs setter is on🔥
5:26 holy shit what a set
0:26 this is insane 😭
Number nine uci oting merrick mc Henry is absurd kid is crazy
When your vid notification pops up, it makes me smile, so does my gfs message notifications……but yours more
What camera do u use?

What's the purpose of having that massive screen in the back if they can't put a score on it

If you want a funny game to play while watching, imagine UCI #9 is a young Adam Driver. It cracks me up every time I watch UCI
at 23:00 how is this not an illegal attack, is #2 not in the backrow during this rotation
serve receive rotation 3
God Rowan is insane
I lwk like this subtle commentary
UCLA is so good
can someone explains why there are two liberos on blue team keep switching in and out?
They switch on every rotation. One of them is receiving, the other is just defending.
How old are they??
this is college volleyball so like 18-24
Their setting ball over hand are not illegal?
coach was furious at 12:40
how do u get so tall tbh
12:30 UCI's libero despawned
18:05 scared the shit out of me
6:35 minus tempo
sheward needs a more aggressive serve
I think it'll get more aggressive as the season goes on. Remember that he didn't serve at all last year
Thanks moomoocowjonny
are you playing?
number 4 UCI kinda looks like jake paul lol
22:52
I actually like not knowing the score until later in the set
Let’s go beavers
UCLA needs to take out Champlin and put in that #21 guy from the penn state match last week
Williams Sarah White Melissa Hall Angela
yo which number r u
he's the filmer
who is uc number 9
Nolan Flexen
