I would love to see a review of the new Thinkcentre (why the British spelling??) Neo Ultra. I'm seriously considering this as a second work PC where I can do work with Linux. So any commentary on Linux support would be greatly appreciated.
I guess more storage is available with additional pciex card x8 if I am not mistaken or one can have a dual port fast networking for example. This Interesting workstation can be customized for different application however those unfortunate 13th and 14th generation intel performance cpuz... If Xeons were supported... that would possibly extend pciex lane number, too.
first of all, why does this thing get so little reviews? p360 was also a handful of searches here on youtube. second, got one a few months back, more basic config (i5 13600, 16gb ram, 512gb ssd, no dedicated gpu, no wifi and 230w psu)… mixed feelings. first, the price was good, around 800$ with 3 year warranty from lenovo which i expanded to 5 with the supplier for around 40$, so the pc was like 760$. at least 150$ less than if i was ordering direct from lenovo, which is great. second, this thing is sleek and small, so thumbs up. but, even with a mid tier processor, the fans get really loud and cpu gets kind of toasty under heavy load. cant imagine how things go down with an i7 or an i9 (iirc, i9 needs two fans so no double slot gpu upgrade if you opt for top tier i9, btw). am planning on putting a dedicated gpu in there, still debating with myself whether to go with t1000 or a2000, but it seems id need a2000 ada variant if i want to do some topaz upscaling of older sd material, but those are like 600$ minimum so, meh. also, the config did come with a pcie riser so i dont have to buy that separately from lenovo. all in all, i have a new pc, its small (that was the most important thing when buying it, so i guess on that front i should be happy lol), a bit disappointed about temps (ram idles around 40c, and so does the ssd which is weird since i believe ssd has its own fan). also, lenovo charges an arm and a leg for gpus. like, t400 4gb variant goes for like 300+$ when in reality you can get a brand new one from a retailer for half the price. also, ive read that not all ram will work in this bad boy, i was thinking just throwing 100$ for some, i dunno… crucial mid tier ram, 32gb but did read that it might not work. lenovo sells samsung and hynix sticks and they are, surprise surprise, at least 30-40% more expensive than if i got a kit from i dunno, newegg or whetever. the good thing is, lenovo sells replacement parts and optional parts, so thats always a good thing. but then i remembered, maybe i shouldve gone with a custom pc, what happens if the mobo dies? im toast. everything is proprietary. so im thinking of snagging a replacement mobo and an extra psu to have them as backup, since 5 years from now i doubt id find them at lenovo, maybe ebay but thats always a gamble. if id gone with a custom pc, if mobo dies, poof 100$ and i have a new mobo. if this things’ mobo dies, poof… cant remember correctly, but its like 400$ or something, lol. aaaanyways, thanks for reading my blog. cheers! subbed.
Hi Dan, Unfortunately, the Intel Core Ultra processors are not supported on this system, just Core i5, i7, and i9, 12th -14th gen. Bummer! Thanks for watching and commenting!
Update*** Sorry, I was just looking at my newly purchased/received P3 Ultra and the video kit. While the kit does technically support and apply to the P3 Ultra, it is only for the bracket and screws ability to support A2000/A4000 low profile GPUs. None of the video or power cables work. So only GPUs that can be fed by the PCIe 75Watts are going to work for GPU options. At least for now. Apologies for the bad info. This info below is incorrect*** You can also order the GPU power kit (Part Number: 4XF1M24241) from Lenovo that is compatible with the P3 Ultra 30HA/30HB model numbers. So you can add in low profile GPUs like the RTX 4060 that require power in excess of the 75W of the PCIe bus. Note you will require the 300W power supply for this.
@@cordlesswire I updated my previous post above after verifying compatibility on my just received P3 Ultra, sorry for the bad info. Everything I read and based on my correspondence with Lenovo support lead me to understand that this kit would enable the use of up to 115watt GPUs, but I was wrong.

@@cordlesswire Yup, I am running an A2000 (I bought on Amazon before the prices got silly) in my current 5 year old PC, and bought the P3 Ultra with the intent to move it over to it. Going from PCIe3 to PCIe4, bump up in processor speed, FSB and NVMe g3 to g4 should all feel systemically faster on this new unit. I went with the i7 to keep the temps down. May do a thermal re-paste with some Noctura too, we’ll see.
