Our per head expenditure was only 6500 rupee for perfect planning.
In this episode I am going to share with you some of the important historical, religious and adventure travel plans of South India, which we traveled from Durga Shashti to Lakshmi Puja morning in just 8 days from 20th October 2023 to 28th October morning.
All by train and booked auto or private car from train. We booked the train ticket four months ago.
Only in Kanyakumari we took a hotel for the night, every other night we traveled by train. This is possible only with a proper travel plan.
My aim was to visit more places in less time. Because I didn't have much time off. You will save both time and money if you plan your tour following my itinerary.
Our travel destinations were Kanchipuram, Mahabali Puram, Gangaikonda Cholapuram, Kumbakonam, Thanjavur, Rameswaram, Kanyakumari, Thiruvananthapuram, Poovar Backwater, Kovalam Beach, Madurai and finally Srirangam. We visited so many travel spots in just eight days. Only possible with proper travel planning.
Just watch my video with your mind and make a travel plan and write down the mobile numbers of the auto drivers.
We left home at 9:00 pm on Thursday, October 19th. We reached Kharagpur station at 11:05 PM. After 12 midnight i.e. on Friday 20th October at 1.40 pm we caught the Chennai mail.
If you are taking the train from Howrah station, then you have to catch the Chennai mail at 11:55 pm on Thursday. That is, you are starting your journey on Thursday at 11:55 pm from Howrah station to Chennai mail. The train reached Chennai Central Railway Station at 3.15 am on Saturday morning. 2-3 minute walk from here, we took the train to Kanjipuram from Chennai Park station at 5.17 am. Then I took an auto to go around Kanchipuram. Auto fare is 200 per head.
From Kanchipuram by 11.20 am train to Chengalpattu, from there visit Mahabalipuram by bus. Return to Chengalpattu station by evening.
We took the train from Chengalpattu at 11.20 pm and reached Kumbakonam station at 4 am the next day.
I booked a private car from Kumbakonam till 12 noon for 2000 rupees and first went to see the Shiva temple at Gangaikonda Cholapuram, 35 km away. On our way back, we visited various temples within a 7 km radius of Kumbakonam station.
We took the daily run Sengottai Express from Kumbakonam at 12.37 pm that day and got down at Thanjavur station at 1.15 pm. Then lunch at the hotel by 2.30 pm we book an auto for 8 people for 1200 and tour Thanjavur sightseeing. Later in the evening visit the Brihadeshwar Shiva Temple built by the Chola kings.
Then take train from Thanjavur station at 1 am to reach Rameswaram.
There is a bus stand right outside Mandalpam railway station. Numerous autos, private cars and buses are available from here to reach Rameswaram.
Auto booking charge 600. 25 to 30 per head by bus. We reached the Bharat Sevashram Sangh in Rameswaram at 9 am. After a while we booked an auto for a total of 1400 by paying 200 per head for adults.
We first visited Arichchal Muna 5 km far from Dhanuskodi. On the way back from here we visit Ramar Temple, Ram Theertham, Panchmukhi Hanuman Temple, Nataraja Murthy, Lakshman Theertham.
Bathing in Samudraghat Agni Theertham near Ramaswamy Temple we entered the temple and got darshan of Lord. We had free lunch at a place called Gopuram adjacent to the main temple. We traveled well to Rameswaram in one day.
We had booked train tickets from Ramanathapuram station to go to Kanyakumari. Later I came to know that the train leaves from Mandapam station at 9 pm to go to Kanyakumari. So we ask TT to book a current ticket from Mandapam station to Ramanathapuram and sit in the pre-assigned seat.
I reached Kanyakumari early the next morning. That day was Maha Dasami.
After spending one night there, we took the 8.40 am train and reached Trivandrum by 10:35 pm the next day.
We booked an auto for 800 to travel all day. Attukal Bhagwati Temple, Parashuram Temple, Puvar Backwater, Ajimala Shiva Temple, Kovalam Beach and finally got darshan of Lord Vishnu Narayan Dev at Padmanabhaswamy Temple.
We took the pre-booking train at 8:15 pm that evening and reached Madurai at 4 am the next day. Visit Madurai Meenakshi Mata and visit other places.
Then at 12.10 pm, took the train from Madurai to Srirangam station at 3.30 pm. Booked an auto for 400 rupees outside the station and first visited Srirangam Vishnu Narayan Dev and then Jambukeshwar Shiva Temple and returned to Srimangam station at 8 o'clock in the evening.
Then took the train from Srirangam at 11.10 pm that night and got down at Chennai Egmore station at 4 am the next day.
