I didn't take chemistry in school or college. I was about to clean my RV toilet with CLR then Bleach. Changed my mind thanks to your video. It most likely saved my life. THANK YOU
NICKELGHANDI What about undergraduates who don't read the ingredients on cleaning supplies? Have you ever thought, maybe you have strange hobbies, like reading the ingredients on clorox and clr bottles?
It isn't as much a hobby as something I do to make sure I am safe when cleaning my house. It is printed on the front of every bottle to read the labels and warnings on the back. My hobbies would be making videos of me mixing these chemicals and showing what happens. Because I like doing that, reading the ingredients is somewhat required so I can know beforehand if it is dangerous or explosive. Wouldn't want to go blowing myself up just to show all of you what mixing hydrogen peroxide and a gallium-aluminum alloy does and igniting it.
I'm glad I watched this, I was about to clean my shower with a mix of bleach and CLR. I always check before mixing chemicals though, an idiot I used to work with mixed windex and bleach to mop the aisles, it damn near killed us and the store had to be evacuated for the rest of the night.
Question: SO I made the mistake in a small coke bottle mixed this CLR, Water, and bleach in about equal portions. About 2-3 minutes later, I realized the mistake, opened all doors/windows in my apartment (bathroom window was already open), and left for about 30 mins. I did experience cough.. But I'm not sure if I had lasting effects. The cough stopped. I thought this CLR dissolved and was not harmful in water?
Thank you, I've been dealing with a sewer smell in my house so I decided to look and clean out all my drain pipes in my house before I call a plumber. I found that my kitchen sink had some old rotten food clogged up in the opposite side of the garbage disposal so I took it apart to clean it out and decided to put bleach down the drains. I only had a little bit of bleach so I thought maybe some CLR. I'm glad I thought first about looking up mixing CLR with bleach because it's obvious that I'm ignorant in what cleaning chemicals I can and cant mix. Glad I did some research first. Thanks again!
I had a bottle of water and clr for cleaning my bathroom . Someone put bleach and water in my bottle. So I get ready to use it again and add clr and water and boom explosion!
Pressure and heat are generated by the reaction. If I'd used stronger concentrations it could have blown the bottle to pieces flinging corrosive liquid everywhere.
The explosion that might have occurred would have been due to the excessive pressure in the bottle. I diluted the reactants too much. The explosion wasn't the point though. The point was to show the reaction and why it isn't a good idea to mix the chemicals together. I don't think I did a great job explaining that but I figured people would get it from watching. I was wrong there lol.
So my dumb self didn’t read the back of the clr so I was cleaning my bathtub with bleach and it mixed and ended up have to open all windows, turn on all fans, contacted poison control for a just in case and the smell was AWFUL WHATEVER YOU DO DONT BE AS STUPID AS ME AND GIRLLLL LEAVE THAT ROOM IF YOU DID MIX THE SOLUTIONS TOGETHER CUZ U BE IN BIG TROUBLE IF YOU DONT!
Would you compare this to mustard gas? I've always mixed bleach and lime remover but I never used the real stuff... I tried it today and I can't stop coughing and dripping from my face
It's very similar to mustard gas. It even has some of the same components like chlorine and chloramine gas. If that doesn't clear up quickly then you should get medical attention because you can end up with chemical pneumonia.
"A lot less exciting than I thought it was going to be," but you said, "I've done this a couple of times before." Where? In your mind... where it exploded? LOL
Incredible J. The gas produced, (Chlorine) by mixing them at full strength utterly destroys the nasal passages, throat and lungs, which results in death. The gas was used in the first world war for that very reason. Even if sufficient quantity wasn't inhaled, it could leave a soldier blind and with severe breathing problems, thereby incapacitating him for the rest of the war.
If you did it indoors, open any windows in that room and close any doors to that room. You are probably okay, but you might want to call poison control just to be safe.
Heike Childs No, the US answers to the zionist lobby and were fooled by a PR exercise. Do some research to find the *real* reason Iraq was invaded. _Knowledge is power_
+graderxtreme Occasionally you will see a yellow gas forming. This usually happens when the mixture is under pressure. The last few times I tried it to show friends in the lab, it did not do it.
Billy Andrew : No prob, I can handle toxic gasses.! I'd wish we had stump remover in my country (Belgium), but it's véry hard to get potassium nitrate here.! Drain cleaner on the other hand... Sulfuric acid is still available, as is sodium hydroxide, yet NON of these fumes is recomended in one's lungs.!
explosivefreak666 Potassium Nitrate or Saltpetre...used as a tree stump remover, but I tend to use it for food preservation and making fireworks or fire starters and I purchase it at 1kg a time on Amazon or eBay.
If you didn't get a high dose then it should get better in a few hours to a day. Higher concentrations can lead to more damage even requiring medical treatment.

Vicki Milam yikes, just used CLR on toilet ....flushed multiple times then put in bleach...it's soaking right now.
Ok who (like me) knew it would create clorean gas when you saw the thumbnail
Anyone with a high school education who has ever read the ingredients on Clorox and CLR.

It makes chloramine
chlorine* idiot

Pretty Jay Yeah you really have to be careful.
Peggy that's the recipe for mustard gas!
Never mix acids, unless you know exactly what you're doing.
Josh Walman no...

I would have worn gloves and a respirator and apron.
You would have been safer than me.
Pussy!!!!!

Nah...butt naked is best.
Leaves interesting scars in peculiar places.
Just accidentally did this in my resturants mop kitchen and I'm not feeling to great, heading to the ER while watching this. Will update

Banjo Kazooie good choice
It's all fun and games until you start losing some flesh... then you can't just walk it off...
Do it do it do it boom booooom BOOOOOM :D
Sara didn’t wear her safety goggles, and now she doesn’t need them.
Oh
Experimenting with no gloves, no lenses ...................... :o/
I was just about to do this in my nasty, stained toilet bowl. Thanks for the head's up.
I had some CLR mix with scrubbing bubbles in a tub. I'm not sure what the active ingredients are but there was definitely a Sulfur smell.
i dont get the big deal. it makes bubbles. ive done it several times. the cleaning power of CLr and bleach mix is amazing. ive never had a problem.
Lola I just did this at work like an idiot i feel like I smoked a whole carton of cigarettes it was like an erupted volcano
I didn't know, but I've ALWAYS wanted to know this hahaha
In the future you need to be more careful imagine getting that stuff in your eyes?
I just mixed these in a bottle and the bottle got pretty hot. I left it in the tub with the cap unscrewed and left, it's a vacant apartment.
Is good to know this guy is safety first
I had a bottle of water and clr for cleaning my bathroom

good job making a chemical bomb
Gas,really. No kaboom.
It’s not a chemical bomb
Chen bomb includes sodium hydroxide and alumi.... I mean I don’t know how to make a chemical bomb

@@NICKELGHANDI you've done this with higher concentrations, haven't you?
Lots of comments expressing disappointment at the lack of any explosion.
It's a _poison_ gas.
Smh.

Yup.
Bear in mind that the gene pool has a habit of purifying itself from time to time. Lol.

what happens of you mix bleach with Drano ?

Unfortunately this happens a lot. Some aren't as lucky as you and end up blind or unable to smell or worse.
F I've done this multiple times

I have done it before. I diluted the chemicals when I made the video which made it less exciting.
@@NICKELGHANDI thus, hoarding all of the excitement for yourself. Do you have 87 cats in your basement? Not exciting but hoarding none the less.
I love bleaching idk why
That didn't look real dangerous.
+Incredible J. It isn't very dangerous. Unless you are in an enclosed space and mix them at full concentration then there isn't much risk.

NICKELGANHDI never ever again in my life that stuff kills
dude why would you kick it into the grass. that’s just terrible
mix sodium hydroxide and aluminum foil in a bottle with the cap on it
indecisive_decision lol
Ahhh yes lye with aluminum the creates co2
Actually, it makes hydrogen gas. Pretty fun to do actually.
....mustard gas....

Nah.
That requires sulphur.

Chloroamine
Hey its me
What's up bleach? How's it going?
NICKELGHANDI
Good.. good. If you need help call me for a sip
Will do. Thanks.
Lol yes. I don’t think Clorox would offer me a sip of bleach.
how about Bleach and Comet??
just cleaned my sink with comet. splashed a little clr on the metal to help clean then I realized it probably wasnt a good idea.
There is ammonia in comet which is the same chemical that is reacting with bleach here so it is not a good idea to mix them.
Well, let's see here. I'm looking at a can of comet "with bleach" printed on the can, so......
There are different "flavors" of comet.
Yea, but they all make my teeth turn green.
you get a foggy bottle
Damn it dude quit showing people how to be safe 😕 let the stupid people die off #lesstraffic
does a visual reaction occur when you mix bleach and vinegar
+graderxtreme Occasionally you will see a yellow gas forming. This usually happens when the mixture is under pressure. The last few times I tried it to show friends in the lab, it did not do it.
Thx
Not really
... For NON ENGLISH PEOPLE : Wtf is "CLR".??.. Just askin'..
A brand of cleaner that dissolves
Calcium
Lime
Rust
Thank you.!

Any drain cleaner or stump remover can be substituted, but the resultant gas produced will still likely kill you, if inhaled.
