I'll be annoying old Ninjago fan today #2!
Maturing is realizing that Smith family is just as f*cked up as Garmadon's. Leaving your children at five and three years old is crazy. Like, aren't Ray and Maya supposed to be strong and brave elemental masters? And then they did this sh*t. I love how fanfictions on Ao3 are the only way we can dip down in Kai and Nya's hard childhood. (I strongly recommend reading one, if you didn't!) Thanks to season 16 that we at least got Maya and her impact on Nya. To be honest, I thought that it would be Kai who'd be angry/irritated at his parents. Didn't he almost slap his father in season 7 just because he believed they were traitors? By the way, what happened to Ray? This man is absolutely different in season 16 than he was in season 7.
By the look at video you can understand I started creating this when Seabound (s16) ended. Yes, I'm very slow and old, I know:)
How did the writers of the show get the idea of destroying Kai's character so dumb? Like, he became the ninja to save his sister and then to protect the green ninja. Why making him so stupid in last seasons and Dragon Rising? Maybe I'm too harsh and unfair at this point but sometimes it makes me sad.
Feel free to share your opinion! Maybe I'm just too dumb or too serious about this legos.

Yeah, I didn't really expect Kai to be so chill. After his parents Returned. And I think the major problem was they Didn't really get any much screen time with their parents. after season 7. I miss the old kai. People didn't really enjoy season 7. But I think it's because it had no point in the storyline. It because season 8 had nothing to do with it.
(I liked the fact that Kai was reckless, he wasn't patient, he was a pretty good fighter. And I know Lloyd was eventually going to take over the show. Well, you know what I mean. But I think the writers thought the only way they could make Lloyd stand out, was make Kai weaker and make Kai like cole and Jay.And yes, he was selfish at times. But ultimately he always wanted to keep the people he cared about safe.)
Like and season 8 the sons of Gramadon. You literally didn't want to give up his powers to save Lloyd. And I understand where he was coming from because he lost his powers couple times before that, and I know he was worried, but. In season 5, he was willing to Fight someone way stronger than he was Just to save his friend.

Omg this was so good!!! Yeah im kinda disappointed that they dumbed down Kai's character, him and Nya were so good in the earlier seasons.
People don't stumble upon my comments often, but I would just like to say... Your creations have always been amazing. Your opinion on Ninjago, I also find intriguing (in a good way). Yeah the Smith family is quite f*cked up like you mentioned. Imagine leaving your 5 year old son and 3 year old daughter to grow up on their own just because you're imprisoned by two time elemental psycho masters. Even if Kai and Nya's parents wanted to help them, now it's likely to say it's too late. Kai and Nya have raised themselves and all grown up. I like how the writers made Nya irritated to have Maya back in her life just because Nya's struggles with her elemental power, but I'm also tad bit annoyed that the writers didn't do much with Kai in Seabound. I'm not saying Kai was a bad character in Seabound, it's just that there wasn't much iconic scenes of him. I'd also like to mention that Kai and Nya are awesome and the best sibling duo in Ninjago. Sure they make fun of each other, but overall Kai and Nya help each other grow and they're always there for each other. Nya was there for Kai, Kai's always there for her. I too hope that the writers can make Kai's character even better in the future (I feel like he was the GOAT from season 1-7, my opinion). I also find this quote of Kai's interesting, “The only reason you convinced me to become a ninja in the first place is to get her back”. It shows how Kai is willing to do anything to save or protect Nya. If Nya wasn't kidnapped by the skeletons in the Pilots, Kai wouldn't be the ninja he is today. Soon, in season 1 or 2, Kai realised Nya didn't really need his protection. Kai even mentioned something like this (sorry if I'm wrong), "All this time, I thought you needed my protection. But now I see you don't." Then came along Seabound. In Seabound, Nya became one with the ocean or should I say Nyad. Jay isn't the only one who had it really hard, but Kai too. Kai thought he had failed to protect her. Kai also said that he'd do anything for her. As you may have seen in Crystalized, Kai grieved because Nya just wasn't there anymore. He even became more fiery in season 16 than he was in previous seasons. Overall, I think that Kai and Nya are a few of the best characters in Ninjago. It's just sad that Kai doesn't get much character development lately. But for now, I would just remember Kai as the GOAT he was. Anyway, great editing as always, @opaline. I find your creations beautiful, keep it up, and I say never stop doing what you love. You're not alone and I hope you have the best days ahead of you. ❤

😱This is one of the best edits I've ever seen! You put together Kai and Nya's beautiful relationship so well. They used to be great, and the last few season did kind of make no sense (the fact that Kai was completely fine with their parents suddenly showing up, and only making Nya the angry one), I didn't like how Kai and Nya's connection was just (in my opinion) getting worse over the seasons. They didn't show Kai's character (and how he felt about losing Nya, for some reason, only Jay was apparently the person who struggled the most) and how he used to be ready to sacrifice everything to save Nya. I just🤬...
Anyway, I really loved your edit! It was SO BEAUTIFUL, I almost cried😞

I am so disgusted by the fact that it all started with Kai becoming a ninja to save Nya, and season 14 ends with Nya turning into the ocean, and only a couple of scenes are given to Kai at this moment. It's so absurd...
I haven't seen edits with Kai and Nya that often lately.. And then, out of nowhere, this is the beautiful edit. Thank you, opaline, you really lifted my spirits!
