Everything that he said is absolutely true! Kids steal from me. I’ve been cursed out; seen them curse administrators out; fights everyday and so forth. All of the teachers that I know talk about quitting. I’m a veteran. And teaching is harder than war. Admin needs to be more supportive and understanding of these new challenges.

If it is worse now, I cannot even imagine. I left several years ago and it was horrible then. No student accountability at all and discipline doesn't exist.

I had a parent ask me, Why did you give my son a D. Because that's what your son earned. Giving and earning...two different things. This is where we are as a society. Oh and I'm no longer a teacher...my stress levels and blood pressure is significantly down. I'm healthier. Best decision I've made but I do miss the students...not administrators and politics.

Thank you. I agree. I pulled mine out of this school system years ago both for academic reasons as well as the kids were horrible. Mine received conduct awards from 1st grade through 4th when she left.

I worked in the schools when I was younger and I’m always sticking up for teachers! I don’t know how they make it. I’d rather work in the juvenile detention than a school and I worked at both. That says a lot 🙌🏽

Various state and federal legislation, that has basically handcuffed and hamstrung school administrators and school boards, has caused this over the past 15-20 years. Politicians have used public school as their political football to garner votes, not carrying much about the consequences of their often legislation.

  • @StephanieStone4737

I homeschool mine, but while she was in this school district, she received conduct awards. I mostly had great respect for my daughter’s teachers (not so much for a few of the administrators), but it all turned out to be a big academic failure for her, so I decided to homeschool her. Everything in the news about how kids behave in these schools now looks just like prison fights, except they have hogtied the hands of the teachers. At least in prisons, the guards are allowed to handle and punish the criminals accordingly. This is truly the collapse of our society, a la Lord of the Flies, with the youth turning into savages due to a lack of adult authority. Lord, help us all.

I don't blame him. How education has been sensationalised, it gives lesser control to teachers.
They are under paid, and safety concerns in classroom. Parents looming over teachers about their own parenting failure at home.
Outburst and outrageous behaviour toward teachers.
It's just depressing. They are the pillars of society that mold coming generation which would carry the society, if they feel unheard and unsafe and disrespected, imagine where this is leading us as a society

    1. I was a kid in the 90's, back then me and my friends where afraid to get in trouble at school because if you did there was a 99% chance you where going to be Spanked when you got home. 2. However the disrespect issue is Not just Kids example I umpire baseball there is a huge Sports Official shortage all over this country because most people are Not willing to put up with the Verbal Abuse from the coaches and parents..

When I was a kid in the 70s and 80s, we got licks with the board at school. Yes, it stung but left no bruises. But when we got home we knew we were going to get spanked again schools need to be allowed to discipline to students again. In schools it is the first line of defense for teachers and students!!! corporal punishment works, and that’s a fact Jack😅

Discipline begins at home. Kindness begins at home. Politeness, manners, and general regard for people begins at home. When your kids are rude, disrespectful, and undisciplined and you send them to school expecting them to learn when their undisciplined attitudes, rudeness and disrespect to professionals trying to help their chances for the future are the problem, then as parents you should not be surprised that those teachers are leaving. Your failures as parents have given your children the worst possible disposition for any worthwhile future by neglecting your parental duties to make them young people with general good manners and self control. It is not the job of teachers to discipline your children, they should be working with good mannered children who are receptive to learning. Parents are to blame for the rise in teacher supply problems and teach retention, and nobody is willing to challenge parents to do better.

Let's stop blaming this on the pandemic. Come on. Pandemic or no pandemic, if teachers are going to be treated this horribly by students, their parents, and the administration, they will continue to leave in droves. When are the administrators finally going to WAKE UP and see that the way things are now are just not working?

I guess he's not a teacher of the year, then. (8 years??) Nothing has changed. The kids are the same, just the toys are different. A good teacher knows how to motivate students, talk with parents, work with administrators and knows why being "friends" with students doesn't work. The problem is we now have young millenials becoming teachers who themselves were not disciplined therefore don't know how to discipline. Who come to school thinking it's all about them, how they are treated and are offended when students don't care.

YOU threw God out of school, in the 60's we had prayer in public school AND EVERYTHING GOD COMMANDS, like discipline for children and repentance of sodomy, fornication, lies. My son who is autistic watched a boy of about 4 kick and hit his mother., she just tolerated it. My son is a quiet person but he knows scripture and said to her '' Did you know that folly is bound up in the heart of a child but the rod of correction will drive it far from him?'' She replied; I don't believe in ''violence''. Too bad her does.
