This got very weird toward the end. While I thought "The Plot Against America" was brilliant (did not see "The Wire"), found that the back and forth with Rabbi Golub toward the end a bit scary. Mr. Simon believes there are versions of the truth. No. Rabbi Golub knows the facts better than most. As always, he was most gracious while Simon was boiling furious.
Indeed, Rabbi Golub says his piece while politely pivoting to avoid escalating the interview. He did an excellent job of controlling his own emotions. I would have lost it. I did find Rabbi Golub's technique of presenting Mr. Simon with examples as part of his questions very smart.
These pseudo intellectual leftist progressives spend so much time in their fictional universe that they think the world works the way they think it should. Simon gave the game away early in the interview when he denigrated Jewish belief and practice. Rabbi Golub was, as usual, far too nice and far too fawning to this jerk. If Simon and his fellow progressives got their way there would be no Israel and no observant Jews in his perfect fictional world. I was pisssed off for hours after I watched this interview.
