I think you speak so eloquently for so many who could only silently send their love to them both that they would be happy-I tried unsuccessfully to find out how they did and it does seem they found that happiness together. I got to see him do Smile too with a Swedish orchestra backing his group.
Thank you for sharing your story at this sad time. 😎

This is a very touching story. I'm glad that you got to meet him. I wish that I could. Mainly because there isn't a day that goes by that I wanted him to know,I'm on his side, but I wouldn't want to bother him. Just to let you know I m glad to at least be a friend of yours and your channel, honest.

That was beautiful. I'm a long time Beach Boys fan. Your story brought tears to my eyes. I've seen the group live since 1979. I saw Brian two nights in a row in 2017.
I've met Al in Detroit in '93 and Mike & Bruce in the mid 2000s and saw the reunion show in 2012.
Thank you for sharing your story. I really enjoyed it.

Thank you for your kind message. I was at a reunion show, too. Magical night, that was too. ❤

My mother passed away on this January 29th. She was my partner in attendance of many memorable Brian Wilson concerts. My mother was the only person who understood my mental health issues and my connection to the Man and his music. I will never forget her sitting beside me with her hand on my hand in Milwaukee, Wisconsin; while Brian performed the Pet Sounds album. I cried the entire concert, more out of gratitude for Brian Wilson showing me that I wasn’t alone in the world, and out of love for my Mother who never gave up on me. Love and Mercy to you, Brian. I cannot fully express in words the influence that you have had on my life.

Loved that story, became a fan of Brian during the pandemic, i missed his last show near my town 2 years before i discovered him. Probably will never meet him or see him in concert, but your story made me feel there, thank you.

I'm so glad you had that positive and richly-deserved experience. I've been a fan since I was a kid, and I found myself standing next to Melinda at the Roxy show in 2000...I thought about just thanking her for taking care of the big guy, but chose to let it go by. I'm so glad you didn't. In 1990 I drove down to San Diego from Los Angeles to a little Beach Boys get-together, and Brian himself (and Dr. Landy) showed up. I have a SMiLE cover-art print from the seventies that he inscribed for me framed on the wall a few feet from me as I type. (I told him his then recent 1988 album was the best album of the decade). The next year I got to meet Marilyn, Diane, and Ginger Blake in the same setting. Amazing women; some of the warmest and most lovable human beings I've ever been around.
Take good care of yourself- like you and Brian, I've had some struggles, but Brian's music loves and understands us all.

Thank you for sharing your interesting stories SurferJoe1. Very cool you were able to meet Brian Wilson, Marilyn and The Honeys. It’s great to know how nice 👍 the 3 ladies were. Most of us won’t have the opportunity so we’re grateful for your letting us in on your experiences.

I also met Melinda in 2005, backstage at Brian's Smile concert in Montreal. I was impressed with her gentle, compassionate demeanour.

This video just magically appeared on my timeline, and I saw the thumbnail and thought, "Whoa, that's Katie Webb! Been a long time! Wonder who stole that picture from her FB timeline!" But....nope, it was actually Katie. :) My wife and I had our Brian moment backstage, totally accidentally. It was short, but Brian smiled, shook our hands, and listened to what we had to say. (My wife to this day still freaks out. "HE SAID MY NAME!!!") It was all of about ten seconds or so, but man, what a thrill.. And yeah -- we too noticed his extremely blue eyes.

I interviewed Brian on the phone in 2005. I felt the same as you when he said "Hi, Joel." First of all, he said my name and secondly, his voice sounded like it did in 1964.

Really loved your story Katherine. I got to know Melinda and Brian and spent some very memorable times with her up at the sound board often with Van Dyke Parks. I nicer person you could never meet. She was as you describe with everyone. She was Brian's saviour for sure and I can only hope that he holds on as best he can now that she has sadly passed. Savor that memory!! It's very special!!! Bob Love, L.A.

When I saw him in Vancouver we were in the third row center stage and she along with at least 3 of the children were directly in the row in front of us dancing and singing along until the girls jumped on stage and danced with the band. I was about to talk to her but I listened to my friend who told me not to bother her. After all he bought the tickets and later bought us tickets for Paul McCartney so I backed off
