Have Willies book. Recommended. Alot of tragedy in the mans life. Just as well he didn't go back. Martin personally took Heggarty to the 'nutting squad', on the level of personal betrayal McGuinness would've felt with Carlin, he'd have slotted him himself! Don't usually do 'traitors' or 'touts'; self serving cowards who despite knowing the risks, got caught & sold out everything.. no one likes a traittor, but Willie is strange case. He's a brave man.

How far would you go for peace? Well if I wanted peace in Ireland and if I was the UK I probably would recognize that the Uk treated the Irish as lower than slaves. Landowners would collapse roofs when tenants didn’t pay rent and they’d let thousands of Irish freeze to death. It makes perfect sense why a ton of Irish left to go to the U.S.
If I wanted peace a negotiation to give the Irish a country and government of their own would be a logical rational conclusion. It’s what probably should be done in Israel. The problem there being that Israel funded hamas or created it as a political group for Palestine. In a way it helped Israel avoid settling for a two party solution as hamas attacks Israel. Some of these issues we’ll never know what happens behind closed doors if things are sinisterly planned or just incompetence or the side effects of good intentions spin out of control in the opposite direction.
