Is it worth getting a jr pass if you are staying primarily in tokyo. We are thinking of arriving in osaka for 3 days and then staying in tokyo for the remainder of our trip. First time Japan travellers and feel so lost 😞
Old comment but no it's not worth it unless you're going to lots of places and taking the Shinkansen in a short amount of time. (think Tokyo-Hiroshima-Sapporo and back etc). There is a calculator you can plug your itinerary in on Japan Guide to see the prices relative to buying the tickets individually.
You bought a bento box of Yellow Shinkansen. Do you know what a yellow Shinkansen is? That's named Doctor Yellow. That's not a passenger train. The purpose is to examine safty conditions of the rails like human health checkups. It's considered as a sign of luck if you encounter a Doctor Yellow.
