Great bus conversion. The air con I never saw the install of the compressor condenser unit, did it fit exactly under the bus where the factory sir did or did it come up throw the floor.
Thanks Francis. We haven't put a video up about it. We didn't film the actual install as we had some help from someone who doesn't like being filmed (we can't weld). It comes up about 20-30cms through the floor. This is covered up by the 'L' part of the lounge.
I might have to use your design as inspiration. We have a 6 year old and a chihuahua so was looking at designs with a single bed and a crate area. Great video thanks.

Hi there, We ended up weighing the Coaster and came in just over 4 tonne. We still wanted to put on a bull bar, awning and us and our stuff wasn't in it either! We opted to leave it at 4990kgs and upgraded to a LR licence. Our Coaster was a 2001 model 1HZ engine. Thanks 😊

Hi John, do you mean the wood roof panels? If so, then we loved them, they held up well, and looked great! We used the same panels in our Mercedes Vario on the rood as well but just painted white. Thanks!
I hate asking how much things cost but I’m converting my bus at the moment and with pets I’m terrified of it being too hot, so trying to budget for the solar/ac set up how much did these systems cost you in the end so I can plan? And how long can you run the ac for? Thanks love your videos!
Hi there, no worries. The solar system on our Toyota Coaster cost approximately $10,000. That was for the panels, Lithium batteries, and everything else. The air con cost was approximately $2500 (Daikin Cora 2kw plus electrician cost, and air con installer cost). At 22 degrees, 3 speed fan, it uses approximately 400 watts of electricity. So as long as the sun is out we can run that throughout the day no issues. We did have to be more careful at night time though and mostly just opted for the fan. That way we still had enough battery power to begin the next day no issues. The only thing we would do differently is opt for a 2.5kwh air con, rather than the 2. It just wasn't quite enough. And maybe larger battery storage capacity. Hope that gives you some idea though! Thanks 😊
Hi there, we did sell this bus a few months back and bought a bigger Mercedes Vario to do it all again with haha! It certainly gets hot in Aus! With the 2kw air con we had in the Coaster, all the windows closed up and curtains closed, we could probably get it to around 23 at the rear of the bus. The front still stayed quite warm though as the air con wasn't quite powerful enough to get right up the front. In our new bus, we will be installing a 3.5kw split system so hoping that will make a big difference! Thanks 😊
Well now that the bus is complete I look forward to seeing some of your travelogues around Oz. Did I see a bottle of ginger beer in the fridge? or was it just lemon? Hey Jarrod, we originally estimated the total cost including the bus was around $60,000. But since then we have done a lot more work and put an air con in and other things so would be closer to $70,000. Definitely can be done cheaper haha!
Hey friends from down under - My whole plan has been derailed and rerailed thanks to this situation - I took an assignment to a new location so I am taking the money planned to invest in a minibus for reallocation to my retirement. Thanks for continuing to inspire those who are seeking a Coaster as a Off Grid option - I was soooo looking forward to hanging out in my bus in the US. SAD FACE - Hugs - Thanks for sharing

Great build , how long do you think it would take doing build if you did it everyday ???? Sold my bus 3 years ago to for my daughters funeral cost ,she was only 17 my life my heart, hospital took 3 hours to do surgury on her brain , ,im buying a 4x4 toyota bus and you guys have a good layout ,love the lounge position , and solar set up ,bed in rear perfect but ill put a 1 meter skylight for star gazing and storm watching ,
Hi, so sorry for your loss, that must of been so hard for you. A 1 metre skylight would be amazing! Honestly not sure how long it would take. If we worked on it every day and had no hold ups with trades - gas plumber, electrician, engineer etc than we would probably say 3 months maximum. Definitely book those things in advance though! Hope this gives you some sort of idea. Good luck 😊
@@RoamingonRubber thanks champs, pain beyond belief , waiting on delivery of my bus 4x4 .ive got 4 deep cycle 140amp batteries from before 3 x250 solar panels and all electricals, mate has fabricated the skywindow for me ,he owns his own window business , i can flip it fully open for hot nights ,, yeah i think the same about 3 months or less ,, look out for a purple bus in midnight violet color my daughters fav color .keep on roaming
