The way Kevin prefers to listen to albums with the lyrics alongside makes these videos so much more engaging. Having him unpack everything while also enjoying the music itself makes it feel like listening to these albums for the first time again. I check your channel all the time to see if a new video is up lmao they're such a cool experience.
I just listened to this album, and I can’t believe I missed such a beautiful piece of art. This project is one of the best things I’ve ever heard. I’m going through a hard time with family members passing away and this album is one of the few things holding me together. 10/10 album.
Glad you loved the album! MOTM is amazing and timeless, it always hits when you are going through something. Sorry for your loss, I hope everything turns out okay in the end, life is a rollercoaster with many highs and lows, so always remember things will get better later, stay strong and I hope in due time you will be okay and happy!
I’m hoping for a Mac Miller album! And this is to answer your pops question about the age. I’m 27 and one of THE biggest CuDi fans, and if I were to see you there, I’d question in but not in a rudely manner but once I’d see you enjoying the music id have no questions, just pure respect.
Just listened to MOTM 1 for the first time as a junior in high school. It is a time capsule.. I’ve always kind of had exposure to Cudi with Kanye and all of those collabs, but this was my first true solo Cudi album.. incredible, absolute classic in my book
Oh man, this album was my jam during highschool. Definitely felt relatable listening to the lyrics. I hope your highschool journey is meaningful and pleasant!
Dads are pro drinkers, chances are low he would let that happen to his beer. Also, if it were to spill, the kid is expected to get him another. Otherwise, why even have a kid?
My dad died when I was a kid. I wish I would have had the chance to talk to my dad about how hard life was for me and how music helped me. Your very lucky bro. Thanks for sharing this gives me a glimpse of what that might have been like.
This is honestly beautiful see you guys bond over these albums, me and my mom love playing this album together, first hip hop album she ever liked, thanks guys
This is so much better, more professional, and more substantial than pretty much all the other "react" channels I can think of. Having two guys that know a thing or two about music and are there to actually appreciate it and not just scream and overreact for views is refreshing.
Saw it happen back in 2012 at a show cudi did in LA at the Nokia. Older man in his 50-60’s was even hitting a blunt and more people kept trying to pass him another hit lol
You've started me on a journey to rediscover albums I was probably too young to appreciate at the time (MOTM, MBDTF) - what a fantastic series. Please let your dad know his enthusiasm is infectious!
@@iSEMMMMM search for music from artists that inspired Kanye and Cudi to find more music. I really liked rediscovering Midnight Marauders by a Tribe Called Quest. Other genres - Discovery by Daft Punk, Modal Soul by Nujabes Then I started exploring concept albums of popular rock groups The Wall by Pink Floyd The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust And the Spiders from Mars by David Bowie Sgt. Cudis music feels reassuring, feels like a big warm hug. It’s that feeling of relief after a good cry, that calm after the storm. Also Dad check out the deluxe edition when you revisit this album. It’s got one of my favorite songs on the album which is the title track man in the moon
Dude yes! I got that exact feeling again when he did Reborn with kanye. Cudis verse on that and the hook was so good. I always listen to that when i need a lick me up or when im happy
MOTM was influential for its time after 808s and Heartbreak (which he co wrote). Being openly emotional and admitting to one's flaws like drug use was a major shift in hip-hop from the 2000s macho gangster and dope dealer bars (not that either are bad, just documenting that change)
pursuit of happiness, soundtrack 2 my life and up up and away make me so emotional. This album is a certified masterpiece and an essential listen for all music lovers
This album came out when I was 17 and it helped me so much. It made me realize I wasn’t alone in the way I felt and he was the reason I asked for help and now I’m 28 and I would not have made it here without Cudi.
This is my first time seeing this channel, it has been in my recommended a couple times. I just assumed it was like the other "mom/dad react to hip-hop" where they just listen to meaningless music that you would throw on at a party. I know nothing about the father(not even his name) but I can tell he has a ton of knowledge in music theory. I love how open and appreciative he is to new music outside of his taste. It warms my heart honestly, my father passed away 3 years ago when I was 17, and seeing a bond and just a simple conversation you two remind me of great memories I have with my father. He grew up in the psychedelic rock age. I feel like he would've enjoyed the feeling of MOTM. This is a great channel and dynamic between you two! Now excuse me I'm going to watch the rest of these reactions.
Hi Noah Kevin here ( old guy) . Sending our condolences to you and your family . I am happy these videos bring you some happy memories. My father has passed years ago and when I see something he would have liked or done I get good feelings and those are what keeps his memory going. Thank you for the kind words and take care.
I loved this so much. There’s something about seeing someone listen to Cudi for the first time and feeling the same relativity and emotion you felt when you first heard it. Love this series. Would love to see more cudi!!
Wow the emotions I went through watching you show your father Kid Cudi and I bawled my eyes out at end knowing someone at least got to experience this with their own father. Wish my pops was around to share him an artist that truly helped me through the darkest times of my life. Mad love to you and your pops
Loved watching this. My father and I used to stay up late, have a few drinks, and share music with each other from our respective generations. The conversations you guys had and your father’s perspective made me feel like I was back in my hometown talking music with my old man. Keep it up!
I really appreciated this reaction, one of my biggest pleasures is seeing people hear Kid Cudi for the first time. I’m really hoping we will get a MOTM2 reaction in the near future. Give your dad a deeper, more intimate look into the darkness and struggle yet comforting side of Cudi. Thanks again for this reaction!
I'm so thankful that this video exists and that I came across it. After highschool my father committed suicide and I listened to this album religiously for a long time in my grieving process. It truly is a magical piece of art that captures many emotions from Kid Cudi, including lots of references to Cudi's depression processing his own father's death. I'm glad that your father enjoys this album! That's so awesome to see. Thank you again for the content, cheers!
Cudi has a massive impact on life, this album came into my life when I felt lost and lonely. It was Cudi who reminded me that im not the only one and I can do better and get through everything
Also the whole concert conversation was super interesting, especially noting the demographic of kid cud’s fans (typically) stoners, more out there guys/creatives. I’m sure you’d be welcomed by open arms by all those who aren’t lame. Lol
I just turned 26 & still bump this album like it came out yesterday! Scott played such a big roll in my youth & I’m forever grateful for it. Really dope seeing you & your dad enjoying this classic body of work.
Dude this is my first time listening to the whole album besides “Day n Night” and “ Pursuit of Happiness”because I never thought how impactful and influential an album can be when you piece the rest of the album. Man honestly I should’ve made video reacting to this video because it was that special of an expirence.
This is the coolest thing I have ever watched. To show someone so close to you something that you listen to on a daily basis and vibe with so much, it's so good. I can't wait to watch more.
I don't have a good relationship with my father at all. He's been verbally abusive and belittling throughout my entire life and has never once showed any interest in me as a person or any of my hobbies. Seeing you interact with your father and sharing this piece of yourself with him and him expressing full interest and enthusiasm in it is very heartwarming to me. Amazing content guys ♥️
Definitely gotta do swimming… I have a feeling as soon as he hears come back to earth he’ll be hooked. Mac Miller was a real ass dude and made some real ass relatable music for any age
As a young guy, if I were to see an older person at a rap concert, or any "young people" music concert for that matter, I would automatically respect them for their open mindedness. Too often you see people scoff at the generation below them, claiming yours had "real music". Our generation will do it too, and I hope to be like your dad.
This album brings back so many memories and this video just made me happy af. Love how in depth his dad gets when talking about the album. One of the most influential albums of all time, absolutely timeless.
It’s such an amazing album. I used to work at a local pizza shop. We had a big New Year’s Eve party with tickets and everything and at midnight we played this album front to back. Everyone was drunk and just having the best time. I’ll never forget that!
As someone who's struggled with an emotionally cut off father who was 40 when I was born, I can't tell you how special this was to watch. I was tearing up through most of it. It just gave me hope for the first time in years that maybe I could connect with him in the same way. Through one of my favorite albums like this so he could see into my world a little better. And I know for a fact this sentiment is shared by tons of others who have discovered your channel too. Great stuff guys this is some of the most powerful content I've seen on UA-cam.
my dad was also 40 when I was born. It’s definitely not as easy to relate and connect with them when there is such a huge generational difference between the two of you.
Hey, maybe some day you’ll be able to have a relationship like this with your son! At least that’s what I am aiming for, since my father died when I was a baby
Man, this album was probably the main album that I associate with my adolescence. Cudi's music helped me through some difficult times and thankfully, he's still putting out amazing music that continues to help me today. Loved reliving my memories of these songs while you both gave your perspectives. You have a great Dad, Connor and Dad, you have a great son. Keep up the good work guys.
I’m 35…this album came out when I was 23. It got me through the hardest time in my life by a long shot. My mother had just passed away, I had moved to another country, and was hopelessly caught up in my addictions. Thankful to have had it in my life at the time and not sure what woulda happened if I didn’t. I really wish I could of listened to this album with my mom…she would of loved it
You know what is so fucking cool? There are so many with stories just like yours. Cudi is such a blessing to so many of us. I’m glad you’re still around!!!
Seeing all these stories from other fans brings a tear to my eye, man. I wonder if Scott realizes how many people his music has touched and how many lives it's saved. It's a shame we likely won't get any more music from him. You could probably fill a library with the stories people have of how his music was there for them when nobody else was. I feel incredibly lucky to be living in a time where we get to have his art in our lives.
this had me tear up at times. cudi is a beautiful artist that brings me to very nostalgic highs and even lows. there was no better album to introduce your dad to his music with. i wish in some ways i could share this sort of moment with my pops and like your dad said, open up a part of myself to him. congrats on the success, keep it up

It’s not an exaggeration to say that Kid Cudi saved my life, especially this album. It came out my freshman year of high school and I honestly don’t know what I would’ve done without it. Cudi will forever have a special place in my heart ❤️

Listened to this a lot in high school but as singles and never the full album. I'm loving experiencing it with you both. Pursuit of Happiness always made me cry in high school.

Haha I can't believe I missed that and the little sideways glance. Having watched the new rodeo reaction before this it makes me wonder if this is the track that he mentions listening to off this album
The way Kevin prefers to listen to albums with the lyrics alongside makes these videos so much more engaging.

Kid Cudi got me through high school. Listening to him now brings back so many memories and chills. He was sent here for our generation for real

This is so much better, more professional, and more substantial than pretty much all the other "react" channels I can think of.
Having two guys that know a thing or two about music and are there to actually appreciate it and not just scream and overreact for views is refreshing.
Have a look at Jon Dentons channel he’s like that too
I feel like Cudi fans would hype a older guy up being at one of his concerts lol
Most definitely
Oh for sure
Saw it happen back in 2012 at a show cudi did in LA at the Nokia. Older man in his 50-60’s was even hitting a blunt and more people kept trying to pass him another hit lol
You've started me on a journey to rediscover albums I was probably too young to appreciate at the time (MOTM, MBDTF) - what a fantastic series. Please let your dad know his enthusiasm is infectious!

MOTM was influential for its time after 808s and Heartbreak (which he co wrote). Being openly emotional and admitting to one's flaws like drug use was a major shift in hip-hop from the 2000s macho gangster and dope dealer bars (not that either are bad, just documenting that change)
Cudi and kanye get major props for changing the scene of the genre
pursuit of happiness, soundtrack 2 my life and up up and away make me so emotional.
"Cudi Zone" is my favorite of this album, but this whole album is a piece of art!
I loved this so much. There’s something about seeing someone listen to Cudi for the first time and feeling the same relativity and emotion you felt when you first heard it. Love this series. Would love to see more cudi!!

Loved watching this. My father and I used to stay up late, have a few drinks, and share music with each other from our respective generations. The conversations you guys had and your father’s perspective made me feel like I was back in my hometown talking music with my old man. Keep it up!
Man.. I bet that was so special to sit down and share that whole thing with his dad. Honestly made me tear up a couple of times. Beautiful!
It’s not as necessary for this album, but I really appreciate how you print the lyrics and features to have your Dad follow along with.

I've always said this is probably one of the best albums ever released by any artist. Played this on repeat for years. Still one of my go to's.
I’m in it for the long run, to see you guys go through the entire trilogy. I think it’ll be super fascinating to see the progression.
Also the whole concert conversation was super interesting, especially noting the demographic of kid cud’s fans (typically) stoners, more out there guys/creatives. I’m sure you’d be welcomed by open arms by all those who aren’t lame. Lol
