Well shit. That is just about the worst injury that could have happened to team Finland. Welcome aboard one of Jokiharju, Vaakanainen, Heinola or Matinpalo. Literally the only defensemen we have left in the NHL after the ones already in the roster. I expect it will be Jokiharju that gets selected, as he has won gold at the World Championships in all 3 age groups.
We might need another one too since there's no guarantees on Hakanpää playing either. Jokiharju and Vaakanainen will probably be the ones to be called up although I wouldn't mind Heinola over Vaakanainen. That was our only D-man who could handle big minutes, any situation and actually move the puck and make the plays on PP so yeah we're screwed. But age old tradition of nihilistic meidän peli will save us all. And goalies playing out of their minds of course.
The nightmare would be a key player like Heiskenen having anything happen in an exhibition tournament that would make him unavailable for the Stars in the playoffs. I bet a lot of teams wish their star players had similar problems so they could hold them out like this. 🤔
Yes. Finland named Aho, Rantanen and Granlund. Sweden named Karlsson, Ekholm and Nylander. USA named McAvoy and Tkachuk. Canada named McDavid and Makar
Sharks should claim Boqvist, even if they just put him back on waivers the next day. We just need to continue our collection of every first round pick from the 2018 draft (so far we've had 4 of them - #6 Zadina, #13 Dellandrea, #18 Kaut, and #21 Ryan Merkley).
Brandon Saad is a very very good wing. Smart, classy, good guy. Somebody is going to get a real good pickup. He did himself and the Blueds a great favor. Sorry he has to leave STL.
For people amazed at Saad passing up the rest of this year's money, you have to keep it in perspective. He's made like 60 million over his career. He's probably not at the stage of searching the couch cushions for quarters to get by.
If Grubauer is truly gone, Seattle fans will at least have that Game 7 vs. the Avs - probably the most important goaltending performance in the club's short history.
It's really sad. It wasn't like he was consistently just mediocre, he would have these phenomenal games where he looked like a Vezina candidate, then follow it with letting in soft goals from the top of the zone.
@@HexagonalMan6 Yeah. I was at the game the other night vs. the Ducks where a couple of those goals just made him look awful. People were shouting to pull him. Not a great scene and I'm sure it was the last straw.
Saad turned into one of my favorite players in the lou last season, so i'll miss him a lot. but i'd rather see him find success in his game again. i'd love to see him turn around and get another cup
Really want NJ to take a chance on saad. He can bring that vet leadership and stanley cup experience to an already lack of experience. Plus he is 6'1 so thats another thing he can bring to NJ that desperately needs size.
@@jacobeberhardt1649If you go back to the 2016 team, almost the entire forward roster were centers. It’s inevitable on the world stage that players will need to be shifted around from their usual positions.
I'd rather Crosby on that top line, move Mac to the RW. Marner doesn't have the heart to be a useful top liner on a winning team, he's more a 2nd liner for me. I think adding Crosby to the top line makes Canada literally unstoppable.
I can see Seattle potentially picking up Boquist. Goaltending aside, defense has been an issue for the team (our current Dmen seem more focused on the blue line than the goal crease when defending, it was just WAY more obvious with Gru unfortunately) and I can see some shuffling there, especially bringing in young blood willing to listen to coaches and adapt their way of playing. If he doesn't work out at the NHL level, it's a small cap hit and he'd also be welcome in Coachella.
@irishtexan100 Replays in slow motion are available on this platform, and it is abundantly clear Hintz hit Stone's skate, changing his trajectory and balance. Stone isn't necessarily innocent, but without that force on his skate, it definitely wouldn't have occurred how it did.
As a Hawks fan, Boqvist always excited me with his offensive potential while in the system. It's a shame he hasn't found a home and his game yet. Not gonna lie, I would like to see Chicago give him another shot.
I wasn't baffled by what Stone was doing because I watched the game. He gets tripped by Hintz and falls into another player. It's like your player crosschecking an opposing player into your goalie and getting mad that the goalie is hurt.
Wanna at least mention the plane crash last night in DC? I mean I know it’s not a news channel but a couple sentences wouldn’t hurt anyone. They were figure skaters after all.
What a nightmare for team Finland. Out of any player being out for them Heiskanen was the worst case scenario.
I would say Rantannen, but sure
Heiskane the best - worst Dman in the league, looks to have the skill to put up 70+ pts easily, but puts up 45-50.
Well, on the bright side, nobody really gives a shit about this dumb tournament, players and fans alike.
@@soulknife20 They could put up respectable F lines without Rantanen. D was already rough even with Heiskanen in there

I wonder how many Finnish Dmen are in the NHL. It cant be that many if Hakkinpa was in the mix while injured
Jokiharju and Vaakanainen should be next up I think
Heiskanen and Lindell are the only ones worth anything in NHL so not that many Dmen.

After the escrow withholdings, taxes, agent fees and union dues, he'll be lucky to clear 20 million.
Adam got, outplayed in my opinion, by Bjornfot and he's now the 8th d-man in a team that desperately needs a solid 3rd d-line.
He plays some good offense, but his defense is like putting a headless chicken on the ice.
Saad playing for the love of the game❤
