    4:10 "Its not like were growing up the middle east and we really understand what it is to lose"
    For me when someone is talking about his pain and at that time acknowledges that others have it worse, he gets my total respect... Big man

    I agree with Scott, the bond between Neurosis fans (and EHG fans) is a very dark, wounded bond. This music is the soundtrack to suffering.

      I would like to add, that for me, personally, Neurosis is not just a soundtrack to suffering, but it's also some tribal thing, some primordial calling and at the same time a reminder we are all animals to some extent. And that is not a good or a bad thing. It is what it is.

    man, now after i`ve learned about all that shit with scott abusing his wife and kids this sounds so much different to me. kinda like all he says has a total different meaning. like a confession in disguise or maybe a silent scream for help or whatever. like when he talks about his everyday struggle with his explosiveness. i mean he kinda admits that shit but of course you wouldn`t interpret it that way. you just want him to be a good person who has gone through a lot of pain and transformed it into art. not a fuckin child abuser.

    Wish I knew about Neurosis when I was getting off of drugs. They're an amazing band full of a lot of heart and soul, and I can relate to everything they say and sing about from addiction to loss and depression. I too lost somebody very close to me to heroin, and it's something that will always hurt, but it's always a good to know that I'm not alone in this world, and that there are bands like Neurosis for people like me/us.

    Huge fan, but the two things that stick with me are the comment about how we aren't growing up in the Middle East and how the level and type of suffering a person goes through, but manages to live a life of substance, seems unthinkable to some. But at the same time doesn't take away from anyone else's struggle. Perspective.
    I also think what he says about how sobriety doesn't change life going on around you. Your priorities change and your health is better but you have to be mindfull not to fill it with OTHER bullshit. That is such good advice. Understanding how an addictive personality works is the best way out of it.
    Much respect!

    • @JSG-mw4qr
      @JSG-mw4qr 3 роки тому

      Yeah its revealing for sure.
      Many westerners look down on any culture or society that is different from theirs as inferior and undesirable, so clearly every non westerner wishes they could be just like us right? Haha not really. Many people, especially people in the middle east, dont want a shallow degenerate society. Theres more to life than McDonalds, flat TV screen tvs and the newest iPhone.
      Loss is loss regardless of how extravagant ones lifestyle is.

    • @glenmchargue5461
      @glenmchargue5461 3 роки тому

      Yeah, to your first point, I used to hate it when I was younger, growing up going to hardcore shows and occasionally someone would say "what do these young white men from the suburbs have to be so angry, and yell about"... And there is a point there, they (I'm) privileged and it's good to recognize that, but also, humans are prone to suffering and change, it's a constant. And if you can't think of anything that that group of people may be upset about, I wish I lived in your head.

    • @UnclePhillyMyAss
      @UnclePhillyMyAss 3 роки тому +1

      Nah hes absolutely correct. We DONT have to worry whether where we live is gonna get bombed today. Its not remotely comparable. That doesnt mean the actual suffering isnt. Thats the same regardless. This is a typical depressive persons way of looking at it. I hate myself even more for being so down because theres people far worse off and I still cant get out of this darkness. What an ingrate!. Its another thought to beat yourself with. Hes not belittling western problems as he is in it himself.

    I relate so much. Deep respect. I struggle with stress/PTSD/Anxiety/weed related based braindamage. It was dangerous weed i smoked everyday for nearly a year and 2 years prior i lost All my confidence and got my social and sexual related PTSD which is more or less chronic. I sucked a Lot and hurt mainly women by text abusing and multi stalking which is pathetic. On The internet i sucked a Lot. But i relate to Scotts Words, even though we have different kinds of issues, its in the brain, a Damage so for us who somehow learns to control our brains and get a good life is beyond a medal of honor really because its a Damage, its not just something we make go away
