- Hi all, today I'll show you how to land the Fenix A320 on Skiathos' runway 01 using the LCTR 01 approach. I'll explain the setup of the aircraft as well as some tipps and tricks how to best use the A320s systems to guide you down on the arrival.

These tutorials are not designed as absolute beginner tutorials. It is expected that the viewer already has basic experience with airliners and knows the basics how to operate an aircraft.
Tools and addons used in this video:
Skiathos: orbxdirect.com...
OBS Studio
My system specs:
Intel i9-9900k@5,2GHz
RTX3080Ti
32GB RAM
Windows 10 Pro
My hardware:
Thrustmaster Boeing Yoke and Throttle
Thrustmaster HOTAS Warthog
Thrustmaster Pendular Pedals
Perfect timing, I plan to fly to Skiathos tomorrow. Thanks.
Got myself this airport just before this video, with all the discounts these days. At 18:12 I wouldn't want to be that sailboat's captain with the sails open xD
Now someone tell me again that sailboats don't have afterburners!
Thank you! I fly to LGSK/01 and LGKR/34 all the time, both approaches are stunning🥰
Damn, watching this video gave me a 'eureka!' moment about landings in the A320. Like, something just clicked. I see you gently leveling out the plane right at about 50 feet. Then you start a nice, shallow flare about 30 feet. It's such a subtle flare, and the plane does absolutely zero floating, and very smoothly touches down. Since applying that exact technique, my landings have become much more consistent.
That's a technique that should not be used however, even though I did it myself. I find it necessary in the Fenix A320 due to the onset of the nose down pitching moment at 30ft, but it should not be required to "pre-flare". Indeed according to the Airbus manuals it's not allowed.
But well, I guess if there's no other way to land that thing properly in the sim... time for Fenix to rework those aerodynamics and FBW in that area.
@@A330Driver Haha! Okay thanks for the insight. I'll keep playing with it. Thanks again for your awesome content.
Thank you so much again for a great instructional video.....
I appreciate the detail you provide on the setup and bringing in the raw data display was very helpful. Cool scenery too, I had to grab that as well.
One of the best msfs 2020 channels out there.
Great video and performance as always! such an amazing scenery as well. You could also try the somewhat "challenging" approach with amazing view at Samos airport if you find the time. Cheers and keep up the great videos!
I would also like to see a video from Samos airport. Ideally landing on runway 09 with a B737. It would make me very happy. And probably not just me.
Samos is definitely still planned!
Just like Split by the way, that one's also a lovely airport!
Thanks for the education and entertainment. Have a great weekend yourself.
Very useful information, APP on raw data, didn´t used it so far, so much to learn.
I’m really enjoying your videos, both the 737 and Fenix. It’s really great to have these high fidelity airliners in MSFS. I wouldn’t mind seeing more GA flights from you as well, maybe even in IFR conditions - I really enjoyed the video looking at FSRealistic.
Great video. I always love coming into Skiathos.
Always wondered what the requirement was to disable auto throttle in the airbus. I’m not a real pilot but my understanding is you keep the AT on in the airbus but disconnect in the Boeing - thoughts?
Correct, The airbus as a feature galled G/S mini, it handles the trust on final, the auto throttle disconnects with the thrust levers are put to idle on the flare
Thank you for this video! After upgrading my simming PC to the latest Gravity GTX I purchased the Fenix A320 and I'm looking forward to putting it through its paces. I'm just really getting started with MSFS. I use ChasePlane in Prepar3D to move the perspective around; are you using a similar add-on or is this baked into MSFS?
Great stuff as always, thanks!
Fantastic as always. I'm so grateful for all this.
Would love to see Circle-To-Land RWY27 Corfu MSFS someday soon maybe?
Best to you
Barty
There is no runway 27 at Corfu, do you mean runway 16? That sounds like a great idea indeed!
@@A330Driver oops! Typo!
Well, you got the idea. Haha!
I would LOVE your amazing tutorial for that one.
Best
Barty
Great video!
Does anyone know if single engine taxi in/out is modelled in the Fenix A320 and if there is a checklist that incorporates this?
It is modelled. Not sure where to find a checklist in the fenix, their manuals are more than limited.
@@A330Driver Ahh interesting, thank you!
On V1-Simulations's channel there's a tutorial about it. It's not using the Fenix (was before it), but I imagine you can learn from it. He usually does single-engine taxi on his flights, so you can try watching some if the Fenix.
@@fabiorpittol cheers mate I'll have a look
enjoyable video yet again!
What was that you clicked just before you lowered the gear.. when you said "arm approach "?
Love your videos! I got both, the PMDG 737 and the Fenix. One question: is there a panel state save hidden somewhere in the Fenix that lets you start let’s say in the holding pattern to practise the landing. Or do you have to start from cold and dark every single time? 737 has this, and it’s such a great feature!
No, you can not save panelstates in the Fenix.
You can try the ready state, but you will still need to program the FMGC and do peer calculations
Amazing approach, have to try it too :)
Can you share you’re MSFS graphical settings? Thank’s
They're available in the community tab of my channel ;-)
Thanks!
@@A330Driver Thank you :D I must be blind xD
I can notice that airplanes in the sim are slowing down faster than in real life. Isn’t true ?
Great Video as always! Was just a bit astonished on the breaking performance! It seems Fenix did not get that right or was the performance tool extremely conservative?
These tools are always very conservative. The real ones are as well.
G'Day Sir, fantastic video thank you, can you please share your sidestick sensitivity settings in a future video, thank you.
Hi Dean, it's all on default, no changes there.
@@A330Driver Thank You Sir.
congratulations commander nice landing! what is the zoom level (%) of the camera you are using in msfs.
In most aircraft I'm using the standard 50%, but in the Fenix I use 60% since otherwise I find the Cockpit to small.
Just in the process of building a PC and moving away from XBox back to PC, mainly because of Fenix and PMDG. Can you recommend a set of tutorials to bring me up to speed? I have been flying non study level aircraft for a while now and want to get the procedures right. I am a retired military air traffic controller so am familiar with ATC directed procedures, but not so much the aircraft management. I also seem to struggle with the flare so my landings are a little heavy handed.
For the 737 I can of course recommend my own videos 😅
I've created a full set of tutorials for it.
For the Airbus there are many great sources, I wouldn't even want to say which one is best.
@@A330Driver I will definitely use them. I really like the interface the A320 from Fenix offers through the EFB, especially with Navigraph charts. Is this in the pipeline from PMDG I think you may have mentioned it in your video?
how do you put the missed approach directions in?
The flightplan is loaded, yes.
Could a 737 or 320 break and stop in such a short distance in real life with full manual breaking?
Yes
When he said autothrottle off, I think every airbus enthusiast/pilot died
Hi, how do you have charts in fenix tablet?
I'm using the Navigraph Charts. They're integrated into the Fenix EFB.
perfeito
This is unrelated but do you know what month we can expect the pmdg 737 to come to marketplace/xbox?
I don't know.
you decelerate a lot in LGSK MSFS because the runway seems on a steep upslope
The pronunciation of the island is Skiáthos and not Skí-athos. It’s just a tip as almost all sim pilots can’t or do not want to pronounce it correct.
