You can cut your shape out of paper, smear your glass with Vaseline and apply the design to the glass and cover that with the Vaseline. I have found this works best with really intricate cutting.

Thank you Rudolf! What did you use to mark the glass. My markings get washed off with the water from the ring saw.

I use a fine line marker and cover with Vaseline petroleum jelly to keep the marker from disappearing.

You can use a wax pencil. It wipes right off.
