I love blanket flowers except I have to compost 99%. Due to the long growing season now, they are good until almost Nov and if the soil is good they will self-seed. This year in a 6 x 6 area I'd estimate a minimum of 400 plants. I let them grow and when I need to fill a spot, I'll dig one up (usually the clump contains 4 or 5) and plant it. Without a doubt one of the best summer plants - good for dry or rainy or hot or sunny times.
@smb123211 * WHAT OR HOW DO YOU MAKE UP YOUR SOIL ?? I FIND HERE IN WEST VA , I USE : 1 SCOOP SAND 1 SCOOP HUMMUS & MANURE 2 SCOOPS POTTING SOIL &IF THE HOLE IS REALLY BIG ILL MIX COMPOST PILE WITH DIRT I DUG OUT OF HOLE ADDING SAME AMOUNT WITH POTTING MIX ,,, OUR SOIL HERE IN THIS "HOLLER" IS SHALE OR CLAY THATS IT😂 ANY TIPS WOULD HELP ,,, THANKS !
@@JadeOhara-l1r Why are you SHOUTING? lol I start with regular soil and over the years have added hundreds of pounds of compost, dead leaves, layers of wood chips, etc. Soil is semi-clay but I've added so much I barely notice anymore.
Thank you for posting about Gaillardia! It is such a beautiful native that I wish I saw more of. I have been trying to plant from seed from an existing plant without any luck. Any suggestions?
Regarding the Gaillardia, I live here in Texas and I just picked up a packet of seeds for the GaillRdia Goblin from my Home Depot... Would one seed potentially spread into that big blanket? Are there ways to control the spread? I planning on planting into a rectangular container.
I hope there are more video's like this. What an awesome host ... can not wait.
Excellent demonstration of the blanket flower.😊
Nice! I like the information you're providing regarding how big 1 plant can get to be.
Now that’s a blanket flower!
Thanks Steve. One of my favorites.
Love this guy. just by watching this :)
