I love how Orido san has American flags in his garage in Japan. For those of you that don't know or don't remember, it used to be a dream of his to race in NASCAR.
please correct me if im worng but didnt he get a chance at it i think at least once back when the cup series ran in japan ............ or am i thinkin of Tsuchiya?
This man is one of my inspirations. I wish I had the money to start building my cars. I grew up watching him and the D1 guys drive. It's a dream goal of mine to meet him and the rest of the Best Motoring and D1 guys. This is so awesome.
super cool is an understatement almost. i would expect some one with his reputation to be atleast a tiny bit either uptight or shy around so many people but hes just there having a good time with everyone
Dayum! That racing simulator is noting short of badassery! Max Orido is such an awesome person. He's someone i'd like to always hang out with and help on his projects. Such a humble and fun person to be around.
In 2003-2004 my friends and I were also hooked on Option drift videos. We had our S13’s with welded diffs and SR swaps (Forest Wang did my first SR swap in my S13 on Oahu) and we were obsessed. We’d go out street drifting and to the local track for drift session. we tried so hard to be the heroes too. Forest went on to be a hero.
Larry, this is a little corny, but this is one of my favorite videos. My daughter was born a few days after this video came out and as you know, we all went into COVID lockdown that month. So stuck at home, tired with a new baby, I remember watching this video and just being really happy. I rewatch this from time to time and think of that month a lot. Thank you and your team for the awesome videos and content you put out.
If I as much a saw Max Orido in person I could honestly die in peace, while Larry is over her getting actual lessons and pointers from the master himself.
TI THE POWERS THAT BE. I am an auto addict, and I just wanted to say that as a company, your leads, like Larry do such a fantastic job of bringing us along for the ride. I just wanted to voice my thanks, for always brightening my day. You guys and girls are amazing.
I met Orido at TAS 2019 when I bought one of his team jackets. He's such a professional and perfectionist at what he does. I also love how he's helping fellow racing drivers with these sort of simulation tutorials.
Wow what a completely amazing video with so much heritage and history all balled up into 1. Much less getting to hang out with Max in his own personal $100,000 man cave / arcade. You Larry really do have one of the most amazing job's a true car enthusiast could deserve. Thank you guys soooo much for all this content from Japan its been my favorite so far out of all your work. Looking forward to you guys wrapping up the rest of the trip stay safe
Larry, you are spot on when guys our age used to RELIGIOUSLY watch Option and Best Motoring videos on DVD back in 2001-2003. even had a collection of them and 360 vm! shit, I am having flashbacks now. lol
The Japan trip is becoming my favorite series yet. Congrats Larry for fulfilling your dream and sharing it with us. This is unbelievable. And Yokohama/KW for making it come true!
Getting a free lesson from one of the most legendary drivers at his own place, and his own sim. I don't know if there would ever be another experience like that.
I made my first full hydraulic setup a few years before Orido did, I was so stoked when he made the advocating for simulation as it does make a massive difference in muscle memory. It has made a massive improvement for SO many drivers worldwide. Simulator over a desk setup any and every day if you take driving seriously. find us on facebook search as 1:1 Simulation.
I met max a few years ago in Canada, he was out randomly with his family. He said it was his daughter's graduation or sumn of the sort, I didn't even bother him for pic
I have a similar story of meeting Orido. Met him in 2003 at an RSR drift event outside Chicago. I also had him sign my event pamphlet and still have it to this day!
I like his body kits better than those put out in 86, I was 19 due to the crazy body kits out then, I chose a 67 Baja bug, In stead of a Japanese car. Although my dad bought a 77 Toyota Celica I went and look at. Larry Thank you, these are the best episode's. Shows how far behind America is in some things. How lucky we are in others. We race on the streets, well here where I live anyway. I have Moto's come through every weekend. We drive from my place to Hot Springs or up HWY 7 to Jasper.
Max seems like he has a good sense of humor still just like best motoring. He seems like he would be an awesome/real guy to hang with. I was waiting for someone to try and cup check him.
i don't speak or understand Japanese in the least - i know a handful of phrases - but when larry asked "so why red" - didn't need a translation to know the answer was an incredulous "ummmm a sports care is red?". wonderful video
How awesome! Thanks for sharing this amazing garage and man cave. I realize that it's not fair to call you lucky because you've put in all the work, but damn you're lucky Mr. Chen!
So very cool some of it actually made me a little teary-eyed because I can imagine how you felt back then versus now very cool Larry congrats that's a huge milestone huge
@10:45 almost 40 secs without translation or subtitles and I couldn't care less. I've watched enough Hot Version to know exactly what was said. Thank you again Hoonigan for having your finger on the pulse of JDM culture.
While a lot of Supra fans became a fan of the car after the first F&F movie, I didn't really consider myself a fan of the car until I saw his BLUE Ridox Supra in Tokyo Xtreme Racer 3 (called Shutokou Battle 01 in Japan), throughout the years of gaming after that game came out I would always replicate that version of his Supra in games like Forza, Need For Speed, and even in the touge spinoff series of TXR even though those had his red Supra like you see here (with some slight differences). Manabu "Max" Orido is the sole reason why I'd buy an A80 Supra if the prices ever dropped into my price range, because tbh I got 'Miata" or "Civic" money and both new and old Supra's in the states are still going for "BMW" money 😉
Still got that hot version pointing stick..... get out the easel with the stats. Larry you need to interview Gan-San - tha boss. Such a smooth driving style.

Larry getting driving lessons from a pointer wielding Max Orido just made my day!
He's living the dream right here
He got stick.
He teaching.

Larry please don't leave Japan, just stay and keep filming these hot vids
Forever
I agree!!! I'm sure he wants to get back to life back home tho as well lol

I like how Max Orido leans his head according to the turn even though it is just a simulator without any g forces
the seat moves and tilts, i bet you'd have to tilt your head along with it
Is that not normal
I love how japanese use sticks or thumb model to point out things, hot version style when presenting engine bay
Pointing in japanese can be very rude.
Max seems like such a chill dude, glad yall included the footage of him with larry and dai on the sim. super cool!
super cool is an understatement almost. i would expect some one with his reputation to be atleast a tiny bit either uptight or shy around so many people but hes just there having a good time with everyone
@@mrdarksh0ck672 no, most of these Japanese guys are super humble. I met max in Canada a few years ago in a park randomly with his family
I love the body kits, so clean and they accentuate the car perfectly.
His cars, especially A90 and 86 for me, are so beautiful! Perfect balance between aggressive and elegant.

Max orido the legend, may be he is one of best stundent from the another legend, DK. Crazy...

I wish Larry could stay in Japan and make videos like this full time. Love the perspective and dialogue from these discussions! So good.

Driving lessons from Max Orido... epic.
I knew who Max was since watching videos over a decade ago, but him repping the US flag just made me a huge fan.
What a champ. Really generous and chilled dude!
A driving lesson from the Man on his personal simulator. Thanks for sharing!
"... nice racing driver...". Great stuff, Larry!

Very nice content Larry! Keep up the good work! Your such an inspiration👌🏻👍🏻👊🏻
nice taste Mr Orido. He got Advan GT’s on most his car. I love them 😍
Max’s simulator has EDIRB seats?! That’s crazy!!

This is one of them smile inducing videos ❤❤❤
We were also at that JGTC event also. In the VIP section. Love the video !
